Well he was good in Jacksonville, bust he was a bust in San Diego and got cut from a 4 yr/$20 Mil deal. Vikings had him in earlier this year and didn't sign him too

I read he was good in Jax, but he's got too many injuries happening to him all the time. Would have to imagine this means the Ravens are still actively looking for a deal or the trade market is shutdown

I like the move.  He was certainly a bust in San Diego but had some good years before that.  He's not that number 1/2 CB that San Diego thought he could be, but he could be some solid veteran depth.  He's about the best we're going to get without giving something up of value.

This has always been my thought.  This by no means is the end of it either.  We'll continue to try and upgrade.

Cox isn't a very good player.  He's proven serviceable at times.  He wasn't haven't a bad preseason.  But we could certainly use the experienced depth.

Good thing I didn't put in my team picks yet lol!

Don't know much about him but I hope he can be solid.

At one point the Ravens made a move, but it's also for an injury prone player at a position riddled by injury

Is he any good or should I still be hoping for a trade?

He was terrible last year for The Chargers to the point he was benched. He recently was on the Vikings team but they released him and most of The Viking fans were shocked. I don't know what happen to Cox but he does have alot of experience as a starting cornerback and maybe The Ravens can get him back to his 2012 form.

Something tells me no since most of his problems stem from injury

I don't know if he makes the final roster. He's going to compete with Franks IMO for the 5th and final DB spot. It's going to be hard for him to make it, if he's going to be dressed and play the last preseason game for us without truly knowing the defensive play book. He has a day and a half to learn the plybook and calls. They may just put him on an island along with Franks on the other and let them play man and see who plays better.

Yeah he does have a problem with stay healthy at times. I don't know if Cox was telling the truth or anything but he mention the reason why he had a bad year last year with the chargers was because he wasn't a good fit in their defensive scheme. if you want more details you can go here http://espn.go.com/blog/minnesota-vikings/post/_/id/7093/derek-cox-looking-for-restart-with-vikings

Low risk at the price, possible high reward.  I want to see how much he plays on thursday since he won't really get much or any practice time with the team.  Nevertheless, welcome to Baltimore.

Sounds like he thought he was a good fit in Minnesota, and still got cut. That's not a good sign and tells me the scheme excuse probably isn't the best.

It also said he was dealing with nagging injuries. Go figure

Remember 2011 when the Jags shut our offense down? This man was largely responsible for that.

Hope he can regain that form this season.

I thought he's been out of the league? Well in the very least it's solid competition to what we already have.

When I go "who?" I don't like it.

Yes, just like we all went "who" when we signed Josh Wilson or Corey Graham. Or even when we brought up Cary Williams from the PS.

It is a solid signing. The Raven's system seems to fish potential out of anyone they bring in, so lets hope they can get the potential Cox showed in 2010 through 2012.

I think the organization is comfortable with Webb, Smith and Asa; so I am not expecting a blockbuster signing/trade. Franks, Brown and Cox will compete for the 4 and 5 backup roles (we barely put 4 CBs on the field at once), and may compete for starting time as well.

wow, this is underwhelming. Maybe he has a revival in Bmore?

If he becomes the next Cary Williams, Josh Wilson, or Corey Graham I'd be content with that.

I'm just now seeing this after I made the comment above about the exact same players. Exactly. Ozzie has a habit of finding underperforming DB's throughout the league who then thrive in our system.

Why do we NEED to be looking for a trade?  We have 3 quality corners and the guys behind them have showed in the Redskins game that they are able to cover for them.  I doubt all 3 go down consecutively again.

Webb and Jimmy are top corners in the league while Asa looks solid along with Brooks.  Chykie Brown seems to be coming along and has improved greatly since his first couple game.

Do we have 3 quality CBs though?  Despite Asa looking pretty good for the most part, he's never played a defensive snap in the regular season.
