Pats trade Mankins to Tampa

Interesting move. Maybe New England found out their backup G is capable. That TE will def help the Pats and Logan strengthens TB's running game now.

Bucs desperately needed a G. Oniel Cousins was set to start for them. Pats get a good joker TE to compliment Gronkowski. Belichick isn't afraid to trade older players. Moss, Seymour and now Mankins.

So does this mean Ingognito didn't seem to be a fit for them? Just funny they brought him in as a guard then trade for Mankins.

I saw somewhere that Incognito was a ploy to get the Pats to do the trade.

Plus they get a 4th round pick in 2015 as well.

Well to be frank, their whole interior needs improving. So Mankins improves their LG spot by a ton, but guessing they still could sign Richie to play Right Guard.

Its mindblowing this guy is still in the league.

They should still sign him imo. They could go from dumpster fire to country paradise.

A slightly psychotic country paradise, but a country paradise no less. :P

This drastically improves the Buccaneers. Mankins is a good G and that's a great boon to their OL, though I imagine chemistry will be affected by this with Collins | Mankins | Dietrich-Smith | Some Guy | Dotson

Unless they want good old boy Oniel "The EZ Pass" Cousins.

Yeah getting Mankins AND Ingognito would be a major improvement to the interior of that line, especially with a savvy vet like McCown behind it

I wonder if they started feeling the heat from the public when they found out about a possible deal, because Tampa is the closest landing spot from Miami. Anyway, just a thought.

Tommy Boy seems to be upset by that this move.

According to Jason Cole of Bleacher Report, Brady was “very upset” with the trade of Logan Mankins, adding that “he was not happy with the move.”

But then again, since when does PFT cite Bleacher Report?

If Oneil Cousins were cut from Tampa would you guys prefer him to Shipley? I honestly think i would.

I really don't know. Sounds like a lateral move to me. I wouldn't mind Chester if we're bringing guys back, because I thought he looked good as a zone blocker. I have bad memories of Cousins.

I do too I just think Cousins can at least get some push on running plays but he was just as bad or worse on pass protection if I remember correctly. I'll try and be open minded while watching tonights game to see if I get any glimmer of hope for Shipley as the backup.

I've argued this already in the Hurst thread. I know people know my stance on Shipley. I actually think Shipley makes the team even though I don't think he deserves it. I hope and believe we're watching for a better option..
