John Harbaugh Ranked #9 Among NFL Head Coaches

34 posts in this topic

This ranking is somewhat 'too' scientific. The 'Top Coaches' should always and only be ranked after retirement. There's no 'real' way to rank coaching and/or their legacy until history steps in. For example right now (in my humble opinion based on 'non-scientific' evaluations) Harb is 2nd and Carroll is 1st and whomever wins the next Super Bowl is now 1st. Will this hold-up in time? Only time will tell. Remember there was a time when most thought Shula was just a sub-Top Ten Coaching 'Hack' in Baltimore until he also won in Miami.

Sorry.

First of all, Andy Reid..good coach but he's the Marty Schottenheimer of his time..playoff failures every year. 0-1 Super Bowl record.

Jim Harbaugh has had a good run, but hasn't won the Super Bowl. That's AT LEAST #7 right there.

Here's how mine would go-

1.Bellicheck

2.Coughlin

3. Peyton

4.JOHN Harbaugh

5. McCarthy

6. Tomlin

7. Carrol

8. Reid

9. Jim Harbaugh

I was about to try and discredit Coughlin but realized what he was also able to do with the Jags.  I'd put Carrol top 5 and probably ahead of John.  He's been able to do it at the college and pro levels, that deserves something.  He's also turned that franchise into a power house.  Just think back when everyone laughed at the 7-9 Seahawks and how far they've come since then.  Harbaugh (Jim) deserves some credit as well for making it to 3 NFCCGs and a SB.  On your Andy would be #8 no doubt, move Jim up and Tomlin down a little, even though I guess he deserves some praise for fielding a playoff caliber team with high school o line talent.  Maybe he's actually a better coach than I give Tomlin credit for because I've been waiting for the wheels to fall off those Steelers teams, but he manages to keep them competing.

John would still be starting Boller if hadn't been injured.

there is zero point zero percent chance that would have ever happened.
