All-Time NBA Draft: Discussion

751 posts in this topic

I went the wrong order. All of a sudden people are going back to the good old days. I thought Inqui was gonna steal my guy, but it was Truth. Archibald this late may be the steal of the draft.

Thank you. I thought he may have somewhat slipped through the cracks with the recent greats being selected. He was undersized but he carried himself bigger than his height, taking pride in routinely driving to the rim against the biggest opponents. Was arguably one of the originators of the play-making style of play for PGs.

I can think of another guy who's still in play that'd be a legit case for the biggest steal..

And now he's gone.

Monroe is tremendous value. You got your best sixth man with the last pick in the eighth round. Very nice.

Top end of my board is being seriously damaged lately. Richmond gone, too.

Not a fun feeling. But now it's time for the back end to start doing their worst.

Chuffed to have Debusschere on the bench. I wanted a couple of good defenders to bring on and a six-time All-Defensive first teamer is a solid place to start looking.

Time to rejig my board based on who and what I want, and to see who falls.

I have some homework to do I guess. No idea who debusschere is.

He was pretty great D player from Walt Frazier, Monroe, Bradly days for Knicks. Won couple rings there in early 70s.

Archibald, Richmond... Debusschere was the highest on my board for a long time, but I figured I had time because defense has been underrated in this draft. I vote the last two picks get voided because the GMs are doo-doo heads.

Took one of the more underrated players in the history of the league. Although defense was his calling card, Sidney Moncrief did everything at a high level. He was a consummate pro and a terrific teammate. Moncrief was arguably the best SG in the early-to-mid 80's before Michael Jordan's arrival. Sadly, a degenerative knee issue shortened his prime and career. We're bound to have high scoring backcourts, so pairing him with Dumars at the One and Two when facing the upper tier ones should help level the playing field.

Cheers. I think the days of guys like us sitting back and letting the old-school players fall to us are more or less over.

I went Big D over Moncrief because I figured that tier of PG was deeper and I'd get another guy I liked come round 10. At this rate I'm not so sure.

I watched a lot of my guys I wanted later go, but I was also targeting Hardaway in this round. One of my all-time favorites, very underrated. A finalist the last couple years, and he's sure to get in the Hall of Fame this year, and well-deserved. I'll take his GS years of 23/10 to come off the bench and spell Magic every now and then, and if you were worried about me losing speed and ball-handling skills when I took out Magic, worry no more.

I don't know much about Hal Greer, but supposedly he was real consistent basically every night. 7x All NBA Second team, 10x All Star, 1x All Star MVP and 1x NBA Champion. Supposedly he brought a solid, workman like approach every day, whether it was practice or a game. He put up real solid numbers throughout his career as well. I don't mind snagging a Hall of Famer this late.

Another solid outside weapon for me with Peja. He was pretty decent on defensive boards, too.

Steve Francis is my heart-driven pick. On talent, I place him in top 10-20 players of all time. For this team, he is great tempo off the bench and a ball hog / highlight reel when I need one. In reality, I just wanted to get him up on this list of great players so we can remember him for what he used to be.

And I really hate Jeff Van Gundy.

Russel Westbrook is a reach.. But I have my reasons.

1. Not many dudes are as athletic as he is.

2. UCLA player

3. Gabe doesn't get him.

4. Good defender..
