All-Time NBA Draft: Discussion

Anthony was a tough pick, but after looking at the available players it was hard to find anyone that stood up to his overall offensive game.

Ha. These teams are ridiculous when you have the luxury of drafting Carmelo as a sixth man. There are a bunch of current players that have already gone who shouldn't have been picked before Melo.

I guess that's what happens when you have 11 people doing an All-Time NBA draft though haha. So many options. I've always liked Carmelo personally, and thought the amount of criticism he receives is a little unfair. It's true that he gives little effort on defense, but in terms of offense he has an incredible ability to score. His game is actually getting better too as he improves his 3 PT shooting and rebounding.

Up until last year when KD was ridiculous, I thought Melo was the best pure scorer in the league. I actually think this is right about the perfect spot in the draft to take him, but the value looks a lot better when you consider all that went before him too high.

Have you seen a recent pic of him?

He's cut down a bunch. Should be unstoppable this year

Yeah,I think he is poised for a monster year. I guess losing a bunch of weight is the cool thing to do if you are an NBA superstar. My only concern with Melo is if he becomes less effective down low, but with his shooting he should be able to beat most defenders off the dribble.

Agreed but I think a quicker first step does more for him than what he would lose in the paint

The Smokesters select
Paul Pierce

He went with the 50th pick. Which is a shame because he was on my shortlist.

I was wondering what would happen in a draft when contemporary bias takes all the studs from the last 20 years off the board so early... And we're only halfway done.

Wait really? I thought he picked someone else. No worries

The initial pick was Dwyane Wade, but the board hasn't been updated to show the Pierce pick yet.

Continuing the recent trend of taking current NBA players. I could use a dominant defensive force to give Kareem a break every now and then.

Happy to land Nate Thurmond at this point. He was spoken of highly by some of the all-time greats including Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, mostly because he was one of the few to give the aforementioned pair issues on the offensive end. Thurmond was a defensive stalwart and arguably one of the best rebounders in the sport. He also had a mid-range jumper in his repertoire which should help with spacing. He was a high character player and, unfortunately, one of the more consistently underrated notable players.

I hope he's not taken yet.

No, he was available. Good pick and you get a bonus point for not picking my target!

BTW, you can check all the players selected on the "Draft" thread, page 1 at the top.

It wasn't updated so I had to look up for the recent picks to make sure that he wasn't picked yet.

Literally took him right out of my hands. Bummer.

Took the league by storm, winning MVP as a rookie. Talk about a guy that lifted his game for the playoffs, Wes Unseld once averaged 24 rebounds/game in a playoff series.

Great pick with Wes Unseld though. Arguably the best outlet passer and his impact in the game is definitely more than what his stats say.

For missing some picks and having to catch up, those were 3 great picks

Shawn kemp was a beast

Gotta say, of the four or five owners who believe the NBA started in the 1990s, his team is not the worst. Grant Hill was a superstar when he could stay healthy.

Haven't checked rosters in awhile but to ER20's defense he's from across the pond so I doubt he knows the history of the league as most of the others drafting
