All-Time NBA Draft: Discussion

With other versions of these games, if someone gets skipped they're usually on autoskip until they make their picks.

This is correct.

Any of you guys happen to work for EA Sports so we could see simulated versions of what might happen with these teams if they actually played each other?

Unbelievable team. Legends falling to you every time with the clear and unpredictable (for me at least) contemporary bias taking place in this draft.

Cheers. Although more or less old-timers, I think I have guys who really transcend different periods and whose skills are portable to any given point in time.

I agree. You had the old-timers fall, though, because almost everyone else is drafting players who entered the league late-80s or later since the first round.

That would be an epic job (although kinda no-win given you'd be guaranteed to upset some people with the stats players are given).

My company was recently engaged by EA Games for a small project in Australia. Once we roll this out, I don't mind talking to my boss to see whether we can get in touch with someone at EA who'd be willing to consider this. Definitely a long shot but doesn't cost anything to ask.

Alright, delete the quote. I felt it was borderline but I don't want it up if it's that obvious

Fair play. It's gone, just like Jason Kidd. :(

Went with McHale here, as I wanted a power forward. McHale scored the ball with tremendous efficiency, as some say he's the best offensive post player of all time. He was also stout on defense, 3x all defense 1st team and 3x all defense 2nd team. Some knock his rebounding numbers, but Parish and Bird were both great rebounders. With McHale and Olajuwon, I have a very crafty front court, and still very solid defensively.

You are somehow building a killer squad without grabbing anyone from the pre-Nike era. Impressive.

It's called taking players(well, 3 of em) with fundamentally sound games or skills(in Kobe's case both). Not to mention 3 great defenders.

Wow, I was gonna pick Kevin  :229031_rant:

Great pick, probably the best post player ever and a great defender too.

You are up.

I hit the time machine big time here. The values certainly lie with the old school players. I'll go small to counteract all the big teams.  Doesn't hurt that he wears my favorite number.

You might win a ton of games with this team based on the tenacity, defense and rebounding. It's like early 21st C. Detroit Pistons, except with megastars. Hard to score, not exciting for a casual fan, but wins will come regardless. I'd love to see what would happen if my team faced yours since we have basically gone in exactly opposite directions thus far.

Yes, I believe that we do.

If we're taking it to public opinion, I don't have a problem with it either.

Don't have much else to add. :P

Great pick with Barry. He was on the top of my list, but I would argue that Lebron and Pippen would both be considered Point Forwards.

Also you chose your picture wisely.

Thanks. Was considering Pettit over McHale. I like my teams balance thru 4 rounds, still have a lot of the draft left which gives me flexibility. Playing your team would be interesting for sure. Might put Pippen on Magic, McHale on Dr J, Wade on AI, and Hakeem on Pettit.

I'm here. The pick will be in shortly. Just for clarification purposes though, we are looking at the best stretches of these players' careers as what we're judging them by, correct? Admittedly, I have a player whose stretch may put him over players who are considered to potentially have better careers.

MJ was not a Forward though.

Not full time. But he was more than capable of playing it... So he could be classified as a point forward

Edit: He shifted there. He was more of a power forward who happened to have the skillset of a pg

Whether he was capable of playing SF isn't the question, however. Magic played mostly at the Point, and considering that a Point Forward position is characterized as a Forward whose characteristics differ from the norms of the Forward position, then Magic does not qualify.
