All-Time NBA Draft: Discussion

751 posts in this topic

Please use this thread for the discussions pertaining to the DaF NBA Draft, including the teams, the players, the strategies, etc.

There is always the unwritten/now written rule that we don't speak about the players who are still available so please adhere to this request. Thank you.

I suggest we start the draft with Baltimoreflacco and 23 out of play. That pick is the definition of a rubber stamp.

He might not take Jordan. You could make a case for the value of building around a dominant big man.

We're going to pick 132 players in this game. However it turns out, there should be 11 extremely happy GMs at the end.

Talk about deep draft...

Good point.

When does the draft start? I'll need a bit of time to go over the first part of my board.

Even though I'm not participating I'm interested in following this game. I just feel like the timing was bad. I'd love to do this next year.

I'm interested in seeing where two current players and the baddest bad boy from the 80's end up.

Just curious, when drafting, the assumption is that everyone is in their best career year?

I was thinking of it as a franchise thing were you get the players for their careers (otherwise for the all-time NBA one I'd be looking at Marcus Dupree or Bo Jackson). And it's assumed that the older-style players have access to today's medicine and training programs, correct?

That's how I'm looking at it. For example, if I was drafting Wade, it would be the Wade we saw from the '08 Olympics to June '09.

A franchise with our teams would be great in theory but there's no guarantee a lot of players would develop the same way if they were surrounded by equally or even greater HoF talents.

Maybe change the list in the draft thread so it matches the draft order?

Can't wait to be on the bottom I see.

I'm assuming that we're drafting these players for the best stretch of their careers. I wasn't the creator of the process, however, so I'd take Ed_Reed20's opinion more at face value.

Pick seven, interesting. I'm not even gonna bother with strategy until I see what the early trends are. I really hope Detlef Schrempf is still there, though.

I hope this is because of Parks and Rec.
