Trades? What do you want to happen?

72 posts in this topic

As I said I doubt we make a trade but if we do I'd expect it to include one of our ILB because it's a position where we're still relatively deep. Brown, Mosley, Smith are all starting calibre imo. Bynes and McClellan are both solid in their roles. Both are also very good on ST.

We recently re-signed McClellan and he's probably the definition of what we like in depth ILB, that being position versatility, decent in rotation as well as talented on ST.

Perhaps we'd entertain trading Bynes for a team needing an ILB with talent at CB. It might explain why Bynes has received a lot of snaps in preseason when the Ravens staff were lauding Arthur Brown before.

The only other position I think we could trade would be at WR. Perhaps Thompson, Aiken or Butler if we wanted to go that route. I think the only one who remotely has value of that group is Thompson.

I agree with this. I also think if we make a trade or pick up anyone in FA it will be depth at OL. I have said it again and again, that IF Smith, Webb and Asa are healthy from day 1, then we will be fine at CB. Franks is starting to look like a good option at 4. The Ravens only played 39 snaps last year when they used 4 CBs in the dime, therefore we only need 3 good/healthy corners and 1 to give some rest every once and a while.

You think OL? I might be alone but I think our depth is adequate. I actually have liked what I've seen from Reid when he was out there. He actually played nastier than I've ever seen him. I think Gradkowski could be good as a LG, personally, though if Zuttah was injured we'd have greater issues regardless of who we have behind him. I think Shipley sticks around because I think he could be good as a reserve guard, at least he's more experienced now lol. I think having Zuttah next to him would help too. Then you have Urschel, who I don't think is ready to really make a big impact but I think he could be serviceable if called upon for a few snaps.

I actually think CB is fine but the depth is lacking, yes. FS is a position that concerns me more from a starter perspective but there are legitimate concerns surrounding the health of our starting CB.

Teams know that Thompson is probably gonna be a cut so they wouldn't trade anything of value if anything at all. It would be nice to trade them for CB/OL depth.

You could trade Thompson in a player swap because that team might want to get him without risking him to waivers.

Regardless, I doubt we even conduct a trade. I'm just saying if we did, those would be our best courses of action.

A player swap is the only thing I can see happening, and as you said, that'll likely be at WR or ILB, if anything at all.

We could add Jimenez to the deal. :-)

I don't think we have much to give away. My dream of course is for us to grab Fitz in a year or two once its clear the Cardinals are ready to move on to their younger receivers. He would continue the trend of us grabbing veteran receivers who are great leaders, with the added bonus of Fitz's even greater activism which I think would do the City some good. I always dream of my favorite players on the Ravens but after McGahee,Sanders and Steve Smith ended up here at certain points, I figure nothing is too far fetched for the specific type of players I love, the Ravens love em too.

If it has to be right at the moment i guess I would love to see us go after some troubled corners who still have great potential but might not be working out in other schemes or are becoming increasingly irrelevant. If Dre Kickpatrick can't get close to the grandpa CBs this year maybe Cincy forgets they're in our division and ships him over. EJ Biggers and David Amerson were both guys I wanted to try previously but now both have secured big roles in the Washington secondary. Would like big strong corners to develop and ease in as well, Tommie Campbell and Robert Steeples come to mind.

As for the guys I listed above like Amerson, I would like the physical press coverage zone corners like we had in Corey Graham and Cary Williams, I'm sure there are some guys like that we can snag for mid to late picks during the middle of the season when teams understand they aren't making the playoffs. That's what I believe we miss most right now in the secondary, guys who blitz and can do damage in run defense as well as zone aware enough for us to do more complex schemes and get creative. I really hoped Marc Anthony would be that guy for us but now he's moved from team to team and now resides on the Titans. Maybe we could find a way to get him back, maybe he gets cut and we pick him back up.

Would also love Bruce Campbell as a developmental piece as he seems ideal for ZBS. Also love the idea of trading for Pagano but demoting him back to DC after that would be awkward.

Deonte for Micheal Thomas , Dolphins.

Micheal Thomas has played little but he stepped on the field vs the patriots due to injuries. He didn't know the playbook or even where the stadium was.

He swatted a pass to Amendola and then picked off Tom Brady in the endzone in the final seconds to win the game.

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/shutdown-corner/dolphins-hero-michael-thomas-picked-off-tom-brady-181302302--nfl.html

Dolphins are stacked at CB and Deonte might not make the roster. His stock is as high as it will ever be and the dolphins love deep threats.

Only because I think the pool of cut OL players is typically pretty strong relative to other positions, namely interior lineman. I am not sure there will be any CB worth picking up and no team will trade a CB of value for what we are willing to trade.

Another possibility is a DE 5 tech guy. I still do not like Canty for some reason. I just think he screams mediocrity. I hope McPhee excels here. Maybe McPhee on passing downs and Tyson on running downs.

Tyrod Taylor for Richard Sherman please

Why not convert Tyrod from a quarter- to a cornerback.  Seems that would a better use for his speed and vertical jump.

Seriously, right now a trade for corner depth is not a bad idea and you wouldn't have to give up more than a 6th to get a journeyman they can polish, but they gave that away to draft Campanaro.  I'm not sold on Franks or a bunch of developmental rookies.  I'm not confident in Chykie Brown for that matter.

I would be for trading Daryl Smith in a year or two if Arthur Brown can emerge.

It would be extremely hard to get much for Daryl Smith considering he's 32 and if we traded him he'd be 33 or 34. Better just to keep him and let him retire a Raven. Were not going to ship away a guy we just nominated to our leadership council either.

Anquan Boldin. Lol.

We also need a pass rusher. And I'm not sure Maxwell is nothing more than a product of the awesome Seattle system

we have mcphee/upshaw/suggs/simon/. i think cb is a much bigger need then a pass rusher.

is trading someone like doom/mcphee for a decent CB a reasonable thought?

Definitely not Dumervil because it would be a negative effect on our cap.  McPhee is a possibility, but I don't see us trading pass rush at all.  That would only leave us with John Simon as a true pass rushing backup, and he hasn't exactly done much in camp.

I could see it be McPhee honestly although ILB or a draft pick is more likely. Maybe we find a guy midseason in a contract year and can get them for cheap.

AQ Shiply for Batman. No one will mess with our line with Batman on it!

We won't find a good corner unless we give up a high pick. Id rather bring in Danny Gorrer

I always liked Danny Gorrer. I find it weird that we got rid of him.

I don't think we plan on trading McPhee because I can't imagine us getting a third round pick for him nor even a fourth. While it's not necessarily likely we'll get a third round compensatory pick for McPhee, you never know how much teams will spend in free agency and you have no idea how good he'll look. Perhaps he could be our Paul Kruger.

If it means a good CB in return I would be fine giving up a late 3rd or more likely a late 4th for them. All depends on player and price however

I much as I love McPhee, Upshaw is looking really good, so we cou;d deal him for a CB.

Apparently the Ravens have a scout at the Pats/Panthers game tonight.  Scouting the Pats plethora of CBs?
