Ouch, Williams suffered a hamstring injury on that pick 6. :( I hope he heals up, before the regular season.

Shame, at least he suffered it during a big play and not a play that didn't matter.

You know... Cary does have a point.

"I give them all credit. But 1 fact still remains: They haven’t won a SB since they got caught." - Cary Williams, who just picked off Brady

Sure, but they also made the SB twice since then. The problem is that switch in how the team was run. They lost their great D and made it all about Brady. Hard to control the pace of the game with just the passing game. Brady turned into Peyton: Great stats, but consistently leaving the outcome of the game in the other teams hands and making crucial mistakes, because it's all in his hands. Tends to happen with every QB.

Joe Flacco had one of the, if not THE greatest playoff run in NFL history, but we still needed some plays to be made by our secondary (Cary Williams included :) ).

If you needed any more proof Brady is a system QB, just look at the success Garoppolo is having. When Brady went down, Cassel looked like a great QB.

I hope it's more watchable than this flag fest.

That's what Bill Belichick drafted Garoppolo for. Bill will be the HC, after Tom retires and he wants the same level of success. Just so everyone will know, that Bill made Tom and not the other way around.

Just saw this ugly stat....

There were 11 penalties in the first quarter of Pats-Eagles, 7 accepted. That's a pace of 44 penalties for the game, 28 accepted

Jimmy "All About Me" Graham has put the NFL to the test. After scoring a TD, he proceeded to dunk, which well we all know is now a penalty. Sean Payton didn't say anything on the sidelines but I'd imagine if Graham keeps doing it and giving up 15 yards in games that count, Payton won't be happy.

Is it enforced on the kickoff or just the extra point?

I imagine it is enforced on the kickoff. I hate that's a rule but rules are rules.

So many flags being thrown and it's only week two of the preseason. All because the NFL wants to emphasize illegal contact beyond five yards. The NFL is behind in the times. Not saying there should be contact all the time between a WR/DB but the game has gotten so much faster that five yards isn't enough anymore. I would want the NFL to change it so that any contact beyond 10 yards is considered "illegal" contact. It gives DBs a chance to play defense and actually jam the receiver at the line.

Yeah that penalty has gotten ridiculous with the flags in the preseason. As for the dunking, they call it the No Fun League for a reason

Illegal contact has gotten ridiculous this preseason

Yeah and guess what, the SD offense just benefited and scored. That wasn't even illegal contact, it was a good defensive play, a corner jamming the receiver. I can tell, the playoffs will be decided by illegal contact where someone will get a stop, flag comes out and the other team wins because of it. Then that alters the playoff picture.

Ok, even the announcers are saying to let them play. That should be a sign the rules have gotten out of hand, when the announcers are bashing it, you know it's gone too far.

If they call it like that in the regular season, I don't care what happens I am not going to watch the NFL games. It has really gotten out of hand this entire preseason. You can't tell me touching the guy after 5 yards really affects the route that much to be an automatic first down. It is football, it is supposed to be a physical game. Hopefully they are just emphasizing it for only the preseason and they will lay back a bit in the regular season but it takes away from the game for sure.

The fact that nothing has changed about the illegal contact rule to adapt to the speed of today's game is a lot of what's wrong with the rule. The acceleration of receivers and DBs in today's games is so much faster that five yards is too little. I would like to see them expand it to where illegal contact should only be called after 10 yards. Anything after 10. This allows DBs to jam the receiver and lets them play defense. It also means WRs have to work to get open and break away.

Yet Goodell would never let that happen.

Yeah 10 yards would help a lot more but heaven forbid the NFL actually help the defense out.

Look at these tweets regarding penalties, and there is a hashtag #ImpeachGoodell on Twitter right now.

Payton: "It's painful for a fan to sit through...a preseason game like that. Listen, that was ugly"

If games are gonna be called like this -- and I didn't think it'd be nearly this bad a month ago -- a 6,000-yard passer might not be far off

These bogus illegal contact penalties are a disgrace. @t_simon24 deserves that pick-six

These calls are becoming comical!!! Are we still playing football!?

The final tally: 22 penalties for #Saints (and at least 4 more declined). And Payton was peeved about 10 penalties last week.

Albert Breer ‏@AlbertBreer  37m

There were 29 called penalties tonight in Foxboro. 21 accepted. 11 came in the first quarter. Players noticed. Especially defensive players.

Back to the game... Seahawks are just picking up where they left off in the Super Bowl. They will be the first back to back Super Bowl Champions since the 2003/2004 Patriots.

Don't always believe what you see in preseason. Case in point: the 0-16 lions were 4-0 in preseason.

I only watched the 1st half of the Eagles/Pats game and the game actually bored me from all the stoppage. The defense rises and wins the SB over the #1 offense in NFL history and the NFL cries foul. NO!! NO!! WE CAN"T KEEP THE CASUAL FAN INTERESTED WITH ALL THIS DEFENSE

Sanchez threw over 60% ??

Was he playing against the 9th string?

A change of scenery and less pressure could just be the antidote.

Zach Mettenberger played well in New Orleans btw, 20/25 for 269 yards although he had an int and lost a fumble. Justin Hunter looked good with 2 TDs as well.
