Pre-Season 2014 Week 2

Bortles looked pretty good in his pre-season debut. Gus Bradley was decent hire, too. Could it be? Could the Jags become...good?

I love what they are doing down there. Bradley is going to be a great coach.

Very big fan of Bradley, that is part of the reason I got Telvin Smith in DAF. He seemed like a pretty cool guy at the senior bowl as well

I've heard good things about Bortles, I'm excited to get a look at him tonight.

Is he starting with the 1sts or do I have to sit through yet another half of Henne again?

Nevermind, I got my disappointing answer. -_-

Yeah their pass defense didn't look great but their run D looked nice. Probably because the Jags have a reshuffled O-line. I did like what I saw from Lee as well

Jags are going to have a pretty nice D this year. I love what they did in FA & the draft to address the front 7. Secondary is hella suspect but Cyprien should further develop.

...Sleeper D

Johnny Football and RG3 on the same field. Two over-hyped players with two obnoxious nicknames.

Henne trips over his own feet. Ofcourse. For the love of god, BENCH THIS GUY ALREADY!

Lee gets a TD. I feel like he'll do great in the NFL.

JAX looks great. Everyone seems really motivated. Indy won't have it easy anymore against them.

Come on Gruden, I like you dude but we've already hit on the Bortles-Roethlisberger comparison.  And it's only a half truth, he has the size and mobility to extend plays but he has kind of a weak arm.

You know how it is. Extend the play + white = Ben Roethlisberger. Extend the play + black = Mike Vick. Extend the play + short = Fran Tarkenton. You hear it every time it happens.

I really wish we had Marqise Lee. It kills me when I see him do so well. I think he'll be one of the best of the bunch from this year's class.

Bortles is looking good.  Seems like he's getting through his reads and throwing the ball pretty well.  Level of competition isn't great, but still this is what you want to see.

I know Gus Bradley wants to take him down the Aaron Rodgers route but Bortles has looked way better than Henne and deserves to be the starter in week one.

Not surprisingly, Henne doesn't exactly look like Bret Favre, either. I know, it's shocking! Just like you I wonder, what's the hold up? There is nothing in football, that Bortles can't learn faster on the field, actually playing the game, than standing on the sideline, holding a clipboard. It worked with Joe and we basically got lucky and were forced to start him.

Gus Bradley has said Bortles will play a full quarter with the starters against the Lions. It seems to me the Jaguars knew what they were doing when they drafted him. I still have the Draft on my DVR and the shock of him being taken is now laughable considering how well he has done. The expectation of everyone was Johnny Football or Khalil Mack.

Yet it seems Manziel can't beat out Hoyer(not yet at least) and Bridgewater can't get past Matt Cassel to be the Vikings starter. For once the Jaguars out smarted everyone else and found their franchise quarterback.

A franchise QB is, in my opinion at least, a QB around whom your franchise can build a consistently successful team around (feel like that's too many arounds...sry for my English :) ). I still don't think Dalton has proven that, because he never won a playoff game and despite all of the hype I'm still sceptic, that RG3 has proven to be a franchise guy either.

Bortles shows promise, like the aforementioned QBs, but you have to prove you're a franchise QB over a long period of time. A couple pre-season games, will obviously not do.

I agree with you, though, that Bortles certainly loooks like the best QB picked in the draft (for now). I still believe in Teddy and I think Garoppolo does have the highest upside, even if his competition on his team is a tad better than Chad Henne. But, just a little. ;)

Good defense, strong running game. Looks like Pats of old...you know the ones who were winning Sbs before they went Brady or bust. I'm kinda scared, that Brady could get his 4th ring and than we go back to the Brady vs Montana debate. -_-

Ridley is looking strong. The Pats OL is rock solid (no surprise there).

Well as long as two things don't happen...

1) The Giants somehow make the SB again and Eli plays spoil to Brady and Belichick again.

2) Flacco and the Ravens not only play spoil to Brady/Belichick but to the media hoping for the Patriots to win another (Voted Most Likely To Happen)   :)

Cary Williams with a nice 77 yard interception returned for a TD to put the Eagles on the board.

Improving the defense and run game. Seems like almost every team tries to do this, this season. We're not the only ones, who paid attention, when the Seahawks won, I guess. THe NFL is such a ME-TOO-league!

Lol, Tom Terrific got intercepted. Way to go Carey!!!

He's not calling himself "the greatest CB" for no reason. j/k :D

Ouch, Williams suffered a hamstring injury on that pick 6. :( I hope he heals up, before the regular season. Not the biggest fan of his, but can't deny his role in our SB run. Dude's talented. He just has a "slightly" overblown ego.
