Tyrod Taylor

242 posts in this topic

i don't know why the ravens keep this guy. he has not progressed in the 3 years he has been with the ravens. he still wants to run first and throw second which with his accuracy isn't a bad idea. if Joe goes down the season is over because tyrod could never be an effective starter. he is worse then troy smith.

the ravens should have given the guy from ball state more reps thursday night. they need to try to identify a qualified back up QB because Tyros ain't it.

Oh dear god. An ANTI Tyrod Thread.

Barren the hatches! All men to their battle stations. This could get ugly.

Why? Cause I couldn't agree with you more. I think Ozzie and Harbs agree as well(why Keith was drafted). We won't resign him after this year.

If most qbs go down the season is over, but I don't like Tyrod as a backup. Weining will be the full time backup by next year.... Book it

You're stuck with him for 1 more year unless something better pops onto the FA market.  Keith isn't ready to handle the job yet.

I  think Tyrod is doing fine so far atleast that's what training camps reports seem to lead to. He had some ups and downs in our first preseason game but i don't  think he was terrible at all in that game and I  wish our second  string o-line was alot better with pass protection ..

The second team oline definitely didn't have a strong gam pass blocking, but a good portion of that was on Tyrod as well. He continually stares down his first read and rarely goes to his second read before running. He isn't really quick with his decision making(other then running) and has a slower release then both Joe and Keith. I'm not sure why Wenning didn't get any snaps, but I definitely expect to see lots of him over the next 3 games.

every second string qb plays well in a garbage time prevent defense. its those types of situations that start qb controversies. last year against the patriots in a garbage time session taylor gave up 14 points on an INT and fumble. for that showing alone i would not carry him into the next year.

people say he will leave after his rookie contract. who do you think would want him? he'll be lucky to end up in the CFL.

I think if The Ravens really felt like Tyrod Taylor was a terrible quarterback than they most likely wouldn't have waited until the sixth round to draft a quarterback and probably  would have had a veteran quarterback sign to the team by now.

I'm not saying you wrong but I didn't see that and I probably should had payed alot more attention lol . I think Wenning may  get the Hunter Caldwell treatment and eventually be put on practice squad.

Tyrod needs to get first team reps. we know flacco. I want to see tyrod behind the first team OL with first team WRs... Theres a reason he is still here. there is a reason all of steve smiths highlights are from tyrod. we don't see everything. he hasn't even played in a real game yet. How are you all so quick to judge. Almost any team will be done contending after the starter goes out.

I think the only time the Ravens could have still done well if Flacco went down was that one year Marc Bulger was the back up.

Pretty sure 2 years ago we started him in a "real game" Week 17 (because we clinched the division) vs the Bengals starters and he was subpar..

I was never a fan of Troy Smith and Tyrod has the same accuracy problems as him. I figured when a team drafted a backup QB they would try to find one with similar skills as their starter as not to have a complete drop off in the game plan. I still do not know why he is on the team and feel that if Flacco was hurt for a month the Ravens would go 0-4 maybe 1-3. Backup QBs should be expected to try and go at least 2-2 if the starter is out for a month.

I don't think the issue people have with Tyrod is that he isn't better than Joe.  The concern stems from Joe going down and Tyrod not being good enough period.

There may be backups who could come in and win some games for teams, but I don't believe the Ravens have one of them.

Oh, and as someone brought up earlier in the thread,  I've been watching Troy Smith in the CFL.  Not good.  Not good.

How much was Marc Bulger btw?

How much are typical 'adequate' back up nowadays?

I believe we paid him something like $4M that year to never take one snap.  It was good insurance, but it was expensive insurance.

I like Tyrod. He should do well with Kubiaks offense. Offers a different wrinkle. Has never had a chance really. Great athelete, players say best on the team.

We signed him in the uncapped year.  So he was out little overage with a 6million dollar one season, and 2 mil the next year.  he chose to walk away and retire.  Which no one can blame him.  Bulger got abused his career, back before they changed the rules Defensive tackles broke him.

He is probably our only option right now so we will stick with him this year. Hopefully Joe stay healthy. He has accuracy problems and his arm is not the strongest, but he is not horrible either. Athletically he his a beast.

We Dont have the luxury to get a good QB. I think the only occasion where you throw a bank on a back up QB:

1. Young starting QB

2. Injures w/ starting QB

3. "All-In" year for SB

I know we've discussed this option before, but maybe after TC is over a guy like Kyle Orton might be in play. He's a guy that fits what Kubes likes to do and would be a much better backup then Tyrod. I thought the guy quit and was ready to retire but some reports say he's still weighing his options.

This thread is just funny. Nothing more. What do you expect from a backup Qb that only gets reps in preseason?

The guy literally plays with players that might not make the team.

Tyrod should play with the starters, with the same play book as our starter.  That means passing plays for both no more specialized playbook for his skill set.  Call the same plays no matter  who's in the game.  If he can't perform then we should get a more suitable backup for this offense.
