Suggested Name Change for the Redskins

I was thinking of the Federals, whose coach was a legend in Canada, but not here, so put me down for the Federals.

The people of Washington DC don't want to go through another loss of history with a major league team. They already went through it once with the Bullets. I actually feel for them because it seems they are in a no win situation. I hate how Baltimore was robbed of the Colts history. It just is not fair to the city to take all that tradition away. They even have to travel to Maryland now to see them play.

The Generals have a solid tradition too. :D

Unfortunately, I think they actually broke that tradition once against the Globetrotters with an overtime win if my memory is serves me correct.

They should change their name to the Braves. They could keep the same LOGO and everything. Washington Braves

They actually were the Braves when they were in Boston and played at Braves Field in the early 30s where the baseball Braves played.  Then they moved to Fenway and got their current name which they took to Washington.

So it seems like they already have history there. That could appeal to Snyder.

They should not change their name period I think the native americans who hate the idea of them changing their name Like myself should get a Class action against Congress,  I am a ravens fan through and through but what next is PETA going to sue us over our name ?

That would be the most ironic name in sports history if they were named the braves after caving into politically correct demand.

I hope Dan continues to win this fight. Don't like the redskins or DC but I stand with him on this.

I think they should change their name because simply put, keeping a name that's an outdated term for a race of people is just kinda stupid. It wouldn't be ok for a team to be called the Detroit Negros nor would it be ok for a team to be called the Denver Honkies.

Didn't Cowboys kill Indians in the Wild West? Or am I just imagining that? I don't know, but couldn't Native Americans find that offensive as well? Lol

I was thinking of the Federals, whose coach was a legend in Canada, but not here, so put me down for the Federals.

In their second year they fired Ray Jauch after going 0-2, because the owner thought they were playing like untrained gerbils.  Jauch then coached in the Arena League, later High School before going back to the CFL.

I got a better one, "Brand X"!

The answer is in your post!  The Washington Gerbils!!

How about the Warriors?  The logo on the helmet would not need a change and the brand name fits the true proud identity of the first common sense honest Americans.  The words have rhythm.

After all they did not screw up the enviornment and waste animals as our cowboy culture had done in the past  200 years.     Have Snyder call me......

How bought the DC Comics?

Excellent choice but as usual the social media would consider that politically incorrect.   Your Suggs graphic reminds me of the famous Wild Bill Hicock who said "Are you satisfied"?

I posted that the Suggs Helmet has a good luck charm to it.

I suggested the flag dudes wear these helmets so the NFL would not penalize a Raven player.  These days, if Ray Lewis  played, the NFL would penalize him for excess celebration although the game did not officially start.

How about..."the OTHER team, that plays in Maryland"? Would that fit on a helmet?

Exactly what I was thinking, glad I went through the post first

There is only one way their name is going to be changed and that is if the NFL forces them. Their ownership feels that changing their name and the loss of tradition and irritation to their true fan base would be far more detrimental to their brand that any flack they get for keeping it.

IF this happens, then I believe the team would at move to a tribal name (such as Algonquians, also suggested above) so that they could at least retain their logo and the basic spirit of their team's identity.

In all serious though, the name is never going to change. Why in the world would it change if 5 or 6 Native American reservations are using Redskins for their own school nickname. This has a completely different meaning in Native American culture than it does in white society. They consider the name an honor and it would be detrimental to change the name.

Now that being said, Dan Snyder bought the trademark to the Warriors hen he was planning on having a dc arena football team than never happened. The trademark expired but I feel warriors is probably what the name would be if it had to be changed.

Go Ravens!

HTTR also stands for Here's to those Ravens!

I got an idea for a nickname, one that reminds us of their fans and is like a fish:
The Washington Largemouths
