Future NFL team relocations

Id like to see Raiders go back to L.A. If Chargers cant work it out in San Diego they should go to San Antonio. It makes sense San Antonio Chargers.

Had Modell not moved here, Al Davis was waiting in the wings and we'd be Baltimore Raiders fans right now.

Who wants Al Davis in Baltimore? He's just as bad like Irsay was. Im glad we had Modell instead. I wouldn't trade those 2 Super Bowl championships for anything.

Wow Los Angeles, unbelievable.

la-billboard.jpg

The irony in the "Popular Demand" wording. If it was "Popular Demand" why did the city lose the Rams in the first place and then lose the Raiders AND be without a NFL team for 20 years. Either way, what a classless move by the city.

I felt St. Louis was "too little, too late" in keeping the Rams.  They should have first offered an extension of the current lease while it was fixed instead of when it went year to year.   The stadium they offered would have not been in the top tier and they sort of violated the one on the Edward Jones Dome by not keeping in the top tier.

LA has a really bad track record with supporting NFL teams. Odd, since it's such a big city. I guess they are more into College Football. The Rams might have a hard time competing with UCLA and USC for attention.

Popular demand is a clothing store, I only that because of this billboard and a Google search. Advertising works, especially if it's the type to get posted elsewhere.

Imagine if we did this when the Ravens came to Baltimore, the Baltimore Browns Backers would be mad as hell.  Still there was a Snickers ad that got them mad.  I can't find it on YouTube but it had two football fans in a empty stadium talking about no one was here, they said it was 4:00 game and they showed one endzone that said "Cleveland" back in 1996.

Hmmmm..... Las Vegas Raiders anyone? Raiders Owner Mark Davis and Las Vegas Sands Chairman/CEO Sheldon Adelson are scheduled to meet tomorrow to discuss stadium details.

Oh I can see it now.... "Welcome to Draft Kings/Fan Duel Stadium in beautiful Las Vegas Nevada where the Las Vegas Raiders will be hosting the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football!"

Didn't know where else to put this but I thought that this would be a good update on the Raiders. Apparently, the Nevada senate has passed the Las Vegas Stadium Bill 16-5 in which the bill would contribute $750M in public money toward the new stadium. Of course the Raiders need 24 votes from the Owners to officially move the team. Have to admit, this would suck for the Oakland fans as the Raiders are on the rise and they could be moving just after they put behind the bad years.

P.S. Can we rename this thread "The Relocation Thread: Rams to LA, Chargers Stay Put, Raiders to Vegas?" or something similar. This way if anymore news breaks or we have an official move of the Raiders or Chargers we can use this thread.

The Raiders fans will find their way to Vegas and just as easily get locked up there too.

I had to deal with an Idiot on YouTube who said "enjoy the Ravens, they;ll move soon too, St, Louis needs a team".   He also said even the Browns will move again. they have about 70 years on their lease there. Maybe I should have asked him if the Packers would move, the fans own the team in a mutual fund arrangement, with a managing partner. .I blocked him.  If St. Louis really wanted the NFL back, they'd go after the Chargers.

I"ve renamed it to "Future NFL team relocation"

And here's the rebuttal to the Super Bowl Commercial" "Slam Stan"
Since when is owning a NFL team supposed to be a charity?  About the low beer prices, probably has to do with St. Louis being the home of Anheiser-Busch.

Remember Colts had 2 years left on lease at Memorial Stadium and they moved to Indy. And theres nothing the courts could do. Theres an old saying. Leases and Contracts are made to be broken. Browns can move to St Louis anytime they want. It was this Supreme Court justice to allow Irsay to do whatever he wanted.

The real reason Art Modell moved to Baltimore was to avoid bankruptcy on the his team.   There was a lease on his team too with a year left over, which is why he left the name, colors and history back in Cleveland for the new team, so he could settle the relocation out of court and get out of it.  The first year, he was so broke he couldn't afford a practice squad for the Ravens.

There were rumors later that he sold PSLs at a bulk discount to brokers to raise funds, that why the NFL stepped in and had him either sell or get a partner which is where Steve Bisciotti comes in.  Bisciotti had offers to buy the Vikings and the Florida Marlins, but chose the Ravens possibly because he lived in nearby Anne Arundel County.  He made his wealth through Aerotek, and when he took over majority ownership, he kept Modell as a consultant until he passed away.  Mike Preston of the Sun, said "Art was a mom and pop, type of owner"  Steve is more corporate.

Fans are worried? Really? Worried about the Chargers leaving San Diego, they in fact beg to differ. By they I mean the people of San Diego. Comic-Con got a 2 year extension through 2018 but had an opt out clause to move Comic Con out of San Diego after 2016. The San Diego Union-Tribune polled their readers(July 2015 Poll) on who they rather keep, Comic-Con or the Chargers. There were 5,299 votes. 61% said they prefer to keep Comic-Con over the Chargers who only had 38% of the vote. When a 4 day event that is held once a year feels more of a priority to people than having a NFL team, something is wrong.

http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/polls/2015/jul/whats-more-important-san-diego-comic-con-or-charge/results/

Had to dig this up because this is more relevant to the results of the election last night. A stadium measure that people were allowed to vote for couldn't even get 50% of the vote, which is line to the fact they only had 38% of the vote up against Comic Con.

The Chargers have a lease until 2020, they can make another push towards a stadium around that time, if it doesn't work, they can move into Kroenke's new stadium in Inglewood which will be ready by then.   They're still on the clock until 2021..

It is kind of sad to see a team with that much history move. Though I think Las Vegas is the perfect fit for them.

They've moved from Oakland to LA to Oakland again.   Although the first two years of the AFL, they played home games in San Francisco sharing Kezar Stadium with the 49ers and Candlestick Park.   Their first stadium in Oakland, Frank Youell Field was a temporary location that held 20,000 and was named after an Undertaker and local Sports Booster.

The Raiders to Las Vegas isn't done yet.

The NFL desperately wants the Raiders to stay put in Oakland. With how on the rise they are, I think this is a real possibility.

I would love to see the silver-and-black stay in Oakland - preferably, in a new stadium, which could be named in honor of Al Davis.

I'd bet that Mexico would be happy to build a stadium for the Chargers to come there and I doubt the NFL would oppose the move.

Oakland needs a new stadium. That place is a health hazard with the sewage backing up constantly.

Yeah Oakland should not be forced to stay in that stadium. If the city can't get them a new stadium then I am for them going somewhere that will.

I will say it's pretty BS that the people of the city have to pay for the new stadiums. Maybe if the owners who are worth well over a few billion dollars paid for them, there wouldn't be so many stadium disputes when it came time for a new one.

Then why couldn't raiders move to Sacremento? Thats a better place for them. Its a 2 hour drive from bay area. Build an 80,000 seat retractable roof stadium so that way they get the super bowl there too.

It's because the stadiums belong to the city and are used for numerous events, not just for that one team.

Rams are already in LA, Raiders are expected to go to Vegas and now the third team in the equation has finally made a decision. The San Diego Chargers are expected to exercise their option of moving to LA in 2017. The NFL had given the Chargers a deadline of Jan 15th on whether to move to LA or not for next season. So the Relocation Saga is over, the Rams and Chargers are going to occupy Los Angeles and the Raiders to Las Vegas.

It's now official. The San Diego Chargers are announcing tomorrow that they will be moving to Los Angeles for the 2017 season. The Chargers had been in SD for 55 years.

Update: Chargers plan to play at the Stubhub Center for 2017 and 2018 before joining the Rams in their new stadium in 2019.

Eww, LA doesn't have a good fanbase for the rams, now the chargers are joining them. Well at least when they merge they can become a 8-8 team :)
