Future NFL team relocations

Just like the posts above me, I too know someone who's a Rams fan who's pretty ticked off. So Kroenke (or however you spell his name) basically lied to the fans in St. Louis, huh? Hmmm.....

Feel bad for the rams fans. Glad that LA is inheriting the mediocrity that is Jeff fisher.

Would honestly rather see the raiders or chargers out here

It is hard to know what to want. In some way, it feels better that the Rams are going, since that's where the Rams started out. I'd hate to see SD go, because they've got a long history - as do the Raiders (their ridiculous temporary LA move not withstanding).

The problem is - that, even though the Rams are returning to their old home, the STL fans are left holding the bag .. again. The NFL perpetuated this stupidity back when they denied the 2 franchises most deserving of an expansion (Baltimore and St. Louis) and cause the moves of the Browns and the Rams in the first place.

So now, the STL fans are 2 time losers in terms of their history lost. Not that the Cards had an illustrious history there, but it was something. The Rams did have their moment of glory and now to be lost in the franchise swapping that the NFL seems to experience more than any other sport.

We'll see how this goes ... LA just doesn't seem to have the ability to honestly support a football team - despite having a billion citizens. Everyone is already a fan of somebody else.

i mean i dont really care what teams come out here but i know way more raider fans than rams fans in L.A, but i do know the rams started here so its like St louis kind of borrowed the team. And san diegoi dont care about they never have home field advantage and it seems their local fans  do not care so maybe going to LA would slightly help for them.

I suppose this move qualifies as a fait accompli, since it seemed to be in the works for some time.  At least, that's what it looked like from my vantage point.

Next relocation rumor I hear is Mark Davis is using San Antonio as leverage, he owns a large piece of

land there to build a stadium, while using the Alamodome in the interim. He is trying to force

Oakland to give an agreement on a new stadium or he might move this year.

Bingo! We have a winner.

What a 30-2 vote by owners tells me is the NFL could give two cents about fans. It's become a greedy billionaires club, and now this Kroenke has moved into the lead as biggest shmuck.

Kroenke hasn't done boo with the Nuggets or Avalanche either.

He owns different franchizes in Colo. I didn't even know that was allowed. It didn't use to be.

And why is the NFL wanting to put 2 teams in LA. Criminys they the only city that lost 2 franchizes in the same year. They should see how the Rams do before even thinking of allowing another team to move there.

As for the San Antonio thing Mark Davis should use the leverage cuz the coliseum is a garbage dump.

Rams didn't start in LA, they moved from Cleveland after the AAFC Browns kicked them out.

Now I hear rumors that Mark Davis may move the Raiders to San Antonio.  He owns  some land where a stadium can be built there.  His lease in Oakland expired, so either he'll have to renew there, or move to Santa Clara and share Levis Stadium with the 49ers until something can be solved there, or there's that option in Texas where Red McCombs says there's 15 sponsors ready to go and  they can play at the Alamodome, until a new stadium is ready there.

Yeah, I guess I was looking at it, not so much as to which team would be most welcomed by those in LA, but which team has the longest history and best fan support in the city the team is leaving.

The history and fan support for the Raiders in Oakland is legendary. The history of the Chargers in SD is long, but you say the fans aren't very supportive - perhaps, I don't know. The fans in STL ... still have to feel for them, but there is still something romantic about the Rams back in LA - at least for those of us who remember Roman Gabriel and Jack Snow.

While this is true...can you blame the owners for not caring about the fans when it comes to franchise relocation?

The money is in television and creating a sports venue, not just a football stadium.

They've already got the fans permanently for the most part...they ain't going nowhere, because television isn't going anywhere.

Who cares if you upset a few hundred thousand people in a small market...that's a fraction of the new revenue they'll get from arguably the biggest market of them all.

Exactly!

I use to live in California way back in the day when the Rams were in L.A. and we absolutely loved them.  I still have quite a few family members and friends in L.A. and the surrounding areas that are extremely excited about the Rams returning to that region.  And, in all honesty, they couldn't care less about how the fans in St. Louis feel at the moment cause they've been through that type of loss as well.

Well, in the grand scheme of things, they aren't moving to LA for their fans either, because LA football fans are generally as fair weather as it gets.

LA is a destination city. They can have countless events both football and non football related at a new venue like the one Kroenke is building.

I already knew that they aren't moving there because of the L.A. fans...fair weather or not but I agree with you that L.A. is a major market but that really goes without saying.  My family members and friends that live in L.A. and the surrounding areas are excited about the Rams return and they really couldn't care less about the NFL's reasoning behind it.  They're just glad that since 94' football has once again returned to that region.

Hmmm.....that's a weird statement coming from a Baltimore fan. Weren't you anti-NFL when the Colts bolted? Ask any Browns fan, Oiler fan, LA Ram Fan, St. Louis Cardinal fan....you get the drift.

We cared plenty when Irsay bolted, got slapped in the face when Jax & Carolina got expansion teams over Baltimore. Damn, I can't believe I just read that on a Baltimore forum.

I think he's looking at it strictly from a cold, business perspective

The Chargers have applied a trade mark for the term "Los Angeles Chargers". If they did this, I imagine discussions with the Rams about sharing a stadium is going well.

Someone tell Dean Spaons the reason the Chargers drew 25 per cent of their fans from the LA area is simple, there was no NFL team up there, they will lose those fans because the Rams are back in LA and they have a team to root for.  Similar to DC baseball fans who rooted for the Orioles, which was helped by a former Redskins owner Edward Bennett Williams buying the team.

In Baltimore almost nobody rooted for the Redskins when the Colts left.  Jack Kent Cooke didn't bother marketing the team there, he had a miles long waiting list for tickets at the time.

Well this is interesting. St. Louis PSL Owners are suing the Rams organization.

- First Lawsuit is basically suing them for violating Missouri's Merchandising Practices Act and that they lied when they said they had no intention to move.

- Second Lawsuit says the fans who purchased PSLs in St. Louis retain the rights to those seats in Los Angeles. They argue that they have the right to buy season tickets for the assigned seats for every season through 2025.

Hmmmm..... Las Vegas Raiders anyone? Raiders Owner Mark Davis and Las Vegas Sands Chairman/CEO Sheldon Adelson are scheduled to meet tomorrow to discuss stadium details.

Quote

“We are moving forward with the stadium concept with or without an NFL team,” Sands’ senior vice president of government relations and community development Andy Abboud said Thursday. “We see a lot more opportunities — conference championships, bowl games, NFL exhibition football, boxing, soccer, neutral site games, and music festivals. There is an entire segment out there.”

Oh I can see it now.... "Welcome to Draft Kings/Fan Duel Stadium in beautiful Las Vegas Nevada where the Las Vegas Raiders will be hosting the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football!"
