Catastrophic if significant.

Like I said, his contract was a mistake. He's good when healthy but made of glass.

Welp time for Asa to step it up big time.

If Webb was/is hurt worse than thought and missed significant time, it would be trade time more so, than Asa time.

Just being hopelessly optimistic, though I'm not sure who we could trade for. I really want Asa to do well, I like his playmaking skills but if he can't cut it as a cover guy he's kinda done here. Fortunately he's seeing a lot of action as the number 2 corner right now in camp and hopefully he can really pick things up development wise.

Jeff Zrebiec@jeffzrebiecsun 3m

Webb is getting further tests on back. Obviously back injury a little more significant than what was originally thought.

I thought he had issue w/ his butt. Guess the spasm crawled through his back. I had that issue before and I was diagnosed w/ a fractured L4. Painful and slow recovery.

I was there in person tonight. As I am a veteran of OIF I sat with my brethren. I cannot believe the amount of respect that John Harbaugh has for service members. To see him in person, that guy is in phenomenal condition!!! Not your typical coach look.

As for the practice. Torrey Smith made an amazing one handed snatch out of the air that Joe launched at him. If this was in a reg season game, it's be #1 on SC top plays. He looks as if he's stepped up big time.

Another impressive wideout was Aiken. On back to back plays he made fine catches, and he WOULD NOT go down. He fought hard for yardage!

Laquan caught a 40yd bomb but dropped a TD in double coverage. He should have come down with it. Ball hit his hands.

Justin Forsett is FAST! He was definitely the best RB on the field IMO. Rice looked amazing catching the ball and running with it. Very shifty and looks a lot quicker than last year.

I was really impressed with Seamster, he played really well defending quite a few passes.

Honestly the one that impressed me the most was Flacco, he scanned the entire field, even in blitz drills, he was looking everywhere. He made a nice vet move too as he was almost run OB for a loss. He realized how close he was to the sideline, knew he wouldn't be ably to draw back and throw it out without stepping out. Quick shovel for incomplete pass. He was very very accurate. Had one or two old Flacco plays but he's getting better. A lot better!

Daniels and Gilmore really showed their ability to catch the ball.

That's all for now. Our Ravens look damn good!

If Webbs out for ANY significant time, we need to trade for a CB. Otherwise, if Asa and Chykie are our #2 and #3, the season is lost.

I also wouldn't be opposed to bringing in Asante Samuel as veteran insurance. He's a guy who has been around a long time and could provide some upside.

Russelstreet seems impressed with how Joe is improving and the offense with him.

My favorite quote: "Two days removed from what appeared to be some communication issues that resulted in a few bad snaps, the chemistry between Joe Flacco and new center Jeremy Zuttah is getting better day by day. Flacco has the offense operating at an increasingly faster tempo than ever before."

I know right! I was in the end zone and it happened in front of me. Butts jumped out of those seats when he came down with if. He plucked that thing right out of the air.

Edit - And I don't even talk like that.

This has been discussed several times this offseason. Samuel is not a good fit for us. He is an outside zone corner. He's never done well in man. He's wasn't agile enough to play the slot even in his prime. He offers little to nothing for us. If we add another CB (and I think we will) it will come after cuts or be a trade. There are no FAs out there that we would have interest in.

And we said he had no hands coming out of MD

Catch like that compares to a huge dunk or alley oop at nba game...

Split second of suspense when you see what's about to happen and then erupting when it actually happens

was there last night....

the running game looks BAD

it's either that the stretch running scheme still isn't working, or that our defense is great.

it's not all terrible though, some RBs do burst through holes occasionally, but mostly I see a pile of bodies and the backs getting stopped for little, no, or negative gain.

am I just being pessimistic? or is it the preseason understanding that the defense is usually ahead of the offense?

My guess would be yes, and yes.

I also forgot, Campanaro looked awesome in KR duties. He outshined everyone else.

I don't understand the colored tips they place on the helmets though

Since ST is a mix of offense and defense, the colored caps denote teams. One color is the punt/kick team and the other (if any) is the return team.

I think Asa could be a capable slot CB, he's instinctual and that helps, but I agree wholeheartedly with this....

As a matter of fact, I'd trade for an outside CB and move Webby inside

Apparently we just signed DB Mario Norman. Don't think he's the answer, but it shows that were not content with the secondary.
