Training Camp Comments, Questions and Concerns

Steve Smith and Flacco seem to have already connected. In passes and friend ship.

Asa has been on my radar since he was a preseason standout last year. I like him for #3 corner ATM I also like him as punt returner.

I really hope Flacco moves and uses his feet more. I remember some of his best throws last year being on the run. Not to mention when he burned the viking for 22 Yards after stiff arming some limemen .

Also I thought Reid had run out of chances especially after his arrest. Glad to see him doing well ; he is great depth.

He's definitely using his feet more.  Obviously I'm still basing this off of the one practice I've seen, but he showed good awareness of pressure and when to run/step up in the pocket.  Designed rollouts are also a huge part of Kubiak's offense.

I wasnt sure about Campanaro and GIlmore picks but I love reading this :

TODAY’S ROOKIE STANDOUTS

OFFENSE: WR Michael Campanaro

The receiver from Wake Forest continues to impress during training camp, and his acceleration was on display during individual receiver drills. When it came to running double moves, Campanaro looked fluid, and his cuts were biting coming in and out of his breaks. He simply flies out of his release off the line.

Campanaro also showed off his body control on a diving catch near the sideline during live action. He was able to find a soft spot in coverage and got behind the underneath defender.

On another play, the rookie caught a short, underneath square-in pass and dashed past defenders in the open field, ripping off some serious yards after the catch (YAC).

and this :

  •
  • Tight end Crockett Gilmore looked outstanding in run blocking situations, consistently moving his man off the ball.

Kapron Lewis-Moore: Lewis-Moore got rave reviews during OTAs for his pursuit and lateral agility. The second-year player was very active today with his hands and was constantly working to get off blocks. On one of his better plays, he was able to take on a block and then wheel off of the blocker’s outside shoulder to tackle the ball carrier.

Lewis’ worst moment came when he was handled one-on-one by tight end Crockett Gilmore on a running play.

Also there were two scuffles that I remember. I couldn't really tell who was involved. The first may have been Pierce and someone else. The second looked like Jah Reid at the bottom of the pile. Can anyone else confirm who was involved?

Never mind:

The first fight of camp occurred when linebacker Josh Bynes pushed offensive tackle Kelechi Osemele twice after a play. It looked like Osemele was trying not to get provoked but he took Bynes to the ground after the second hit. There was a pileup, which included mostly defensive players, and order was quickly restored.

Yeah I don't remember seeing who was in the first but I don't think the first one was too serious. The second one is probably the one with Bynes and Osemele.

A bit off topic, but are you allowed to bring phones or cameras to the open practices or can you only use them outside?

I feel something special in the air this year about the team. I also love that we want to get back to our aggressive ways and on top of that we're very healthy besides the CB position

Interesting, and gratifying, to see the fans cheer Ray Rice.

Did you catch the national anthem? I think it's in good hands.

At the open practices at M&T and Annapolis, yes you can use your cameras. However, if you're invited to the closed practices at the Under Armour facility in Owings Mills, no cameras or cell phones allowed.
