Worst Present Ever

41 posts in this topic

Since the holidays are coming up, I thought it'd be amusing to retell some of the worst presents you've ever received. These can be any presents, not just Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza, etc.

Mine isn't too bad:
When me and my twin sister turned 16, my mom had bought us luggage. We complained about that one enough so that our dad bought us a new head unit for our car.

Actually, I've gotten THREE presents that were horrible.

The worst, IMO, was a wallet that I was given. Not so bad, right? Problem was, 1) I already had a wallet (a nice one, at that); 2) it had velcro, which I'm not too fond of since it reminds me of kids' wallets; and 3) I noticed that it came in a tin case...and on the case, it said the wallet was a free complementary gift with the purchase of a pair of jeans. Jeans that the person just so happened to be wearing at that particular moment. With the tag still on. <_<

The second-worst was a watch from the same person. Again, not so bad, right? Problem was, it was too small for my wrist. Why? Because not only was it not adjustable to my size, but upon closer inspection (and an embarassing remark the next day), it was actually a girls' watch. Oh, and it came free with the purchase of something else, too. -_-
The least of them, however, was a pair of boxers. Much, much better...or so it would seem. They were already tight to begin with (weird for a pair of boxers), but after the first wash, the color got on some of my other clothes and they had shrank to where I was waddling when I walked. I was literally busting at the seams, to where I practically wore them as briefs that day.

"Briefs" with a huge hole in the front. And it wasn't 'cause of me.

I really like the sound of that person. Getting someone a free gift is like openly telling someone you don't like them: funny for people watching.

I'm sending my girlfriend's brother a bunch of DVD that both of us had when we moved in together. That was her idea because he's the worst gifter ever. He's also getting my old computer monitor (it's a flat screen, so it's not all bad)

Generic "containers" like for baked goods, broke the first time I used it and discolored in the sun I have gotten so many stupid gifts to even remember, I've been told its because I'm picky. My parents started giving me money at 14.

I always recieved a lot of regifted nuts and candy from my birth father, he's a jerk, he's on his fourth marriage after cheating on every wife....I no longer speak to him... anyway...the worst present I ever received, was from him of course...personal pong. It was like a slab of wood colored like a ping pong table green the size of a shoebox with a white line in the middle, no net, with a dowell in the middle to balance it. ping pong ping pong ping pong. What do I win? <_<

Last year for my birthday, my aunt gave me a safe. Not only did, I not need or want it, she opened before she gave it to me and lost the combination.

A book to hold business cards. Because I know so many people and have so many business cards sitting around. (Sarcasm intended)

I got a complete DVD set of the history of the Pittsburgh Steelers from a buddy of mine last Christmas who is Steelers fan. And to top it all off my buddy also threw in a Terrible towel which I use on my car and other numerous things, I wish he would have giving me Ravens stuff instead. <_<

I got a rubbermaid "hope chest" filled with cookbooks and baking sheets....

... on my 21st birthday.

I'm almost 30 now and still resent my aunt and uncle for being so lame.

I have to admit...I find fruitcake the all time worse gift !
When I buy a gift I really try to buy something that I KNOW the person likes, not just a quick fix....put some thought & care into it. :)

If its that hickory farms stuff all packaged up its not a bad gift..However, if it's just one piece of Sausage that is just like giving a pound of meat....

Lol at the Peruvian goat being named for you. My worst give was from my aunt, who gave me a blue sweat shirt. Blue is one of my favorite colors, but upon closer inspection, it was a female sweat shirt. My mom wears it now. Oh yeah, just in case you have diabetic friends, sugar-free candy is an absolutely awful gift. For type 1 diabetics (such as myself) we still need to take insulin to eat sugar-free candy just like regular candy, it's more expensive, and it tastes like ****. So second worst gift I recieved was sugar-free candy.
