Pat Bowlen

In really sad news, Denver Broncos owner Bowlen has stepped down, putting the team in trust for his children, after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Apparently, he's been having symptoms since 2009.

As much as I can't stand Elway, Bowlen has always been a class act, and they love him in Denver.

Condolences to his family.

Sad circumstances, that is not a kind disease. All the best to him and his family, I've heard that they will retain the ownership.

He brought a great deal of success and respectability to a team who was a doormat for the entire tenure of the AFL and into the merger.

There is a book by Ravens radio play by play announcer Gerry Sandusky called "Forgotten Sundays" which deals with his relationship with his father John who played and coached for various teams in the NFL, he was even once an interim head coach for the Baltimore Colts. There is a chapter about John's unsuccessful struggles with Alzheimer's. It's a great book, you won't regret buying it.
