How do I change the size of a photo?

Hi,

 

I took a picture I want to use as my avatar.

 

Unfortunately I can't figure out how to get it sized properly to use as my avatar.  Can anyone help me to do this, or point me towards how to do it.

 

I just don't know how to keep all the essential elements (ravens hat and facade in the background) while still reducing the size to the appropriate limit.

If you open it in Microsoft Paint (always save a copy so you have the original) there is a re-size option that will let you put it to whatever size you want, and keep the aspect ratio.

You could also consider using it as your signature, our Board Basics rules for it are:

10. Avatars should be no larger than 100x100px and 15KB. Signatures should be no larger than 550x200px and 200KB.

Also, all content rules apply as well. Write back if you have any other questions

Depending on the picture, I'm pretty sure the system resizes avatars that are too big anyway. Should be able to play around with the crop if it's too big too.

 

And there are a load of resizing sites you can use for free. I've never used this one, but it was the first to come up in a Google search and it looks reliable enough:

Hi,

Thank you both of you. I should have done more to use the search engine. I'm pretty high functioning when it comes to computers, but with pictures/graphics, it all seems to go out the window. I fell off the SOTA curve sometime around Win95 and never got back with it.

I'll use your suggestions and work on this this weekend.
