Jimmy smith arrested

203 posts in this topic

According to a source on WNST, Jimmy wasn't even drinking. He probably just felt like he was being inappropriately strong-armed by the police and spoke up. He should have listened to the cops, and just stepped away, but in the end it's really just a very minor transgression.

'@GlennClarkWNST: "In regards to the scene on Saturday night, Jimmy Smith was not under the influence of substance or alcohol."

Glenn: To clear up previous Tweet, source told me Jimmy Smith was not DRUNK Saturday night.

And the incident continues to look even more and more minor

Yeah, I was there.  He just seemed really raw, and freaked out.

For gods sake, no more Ravens arrest anymore!

And the sad thing about this is that SportsCenter has a segment called; "Ravens Arrests" about to come up in a few minutes. SMH!

Look at the bright side, at least they're covering us for in once.

I want the Ravens to have coverage but from how awesome the offense and defense is playing in games week in and week out and not for all of this foolishness that we're constantly seeing from a few of our guys lately!

Man, will somebody just hire Lewis as a coach so these guys got somebody to keep them in line and have someone to look up to.

You know, the more I think about this, the less concerned I become. I don't think this had anything to do with Jimmy being some arrogant human being. She was probably really drunk and she had cocaine on her. He was probably really nervous and scared and didn't know what to say in the heat of the moment. I doubt he said any of it with a level head, and it shows when he's taken away and doesn't feel obligated to try to remedy the situation. Most likely just very nervous, not sure what to do, and said some wrong things.

I can't believe some of the over reactions on this site

So he thought that he could help the woman better than the paramedics? If that's true than Jimmy was being pretty stupid. When the police tell you to step out of the way you'd better step out of the way. I know that this probably isn't the full story but I still feel very frustrated with Jimmy after reading the Sun article.

"Sir please step aside so we can hold her hair back"....I'd like to imagine that is how it went.  She is DRUNK.  Holy crap.  She didn't have a heart attack with her life in danger.   She was throwing up.  Happens at college almost every night.

Tell me though.  What were the paramedics going to do that was so important.  She was a little bit woozy and throwing up.  It's not like she was passed out on the floor about to die.  I'd like to have seen a cop bust down my door and arrest my mom for trying to give me chicken soup when I was sick saying the paramedics need to do their thing...Dumb story.

I don't think anyone is overreacting, everyone recognizes how minor the incident is. But we're just sick of hearing about a new player getting arrested every week. John Harbaugh worked pretty hard to get rid of the "criminal" reputation and one offseason has managed to erase that.

I wish I could know more about a situation than paramedics without being on the scene. Would be a useful talent I imagine.

No matter what anyone makes of these 5 recent arrests, Ravens got to get back to football! We had a bad season last year, and now a down offseason with these mishaps with the law. Only way out of this is to have a phenominal season with big stats on defense and offense. Also some big wins! Give the media positive things to talk about so this fades away! It's seems like the world is against us again as usual..... Go Ravens!

Also I agree with this. Take out Ray Rice and my opinion hasn't been lowered of any of these guys (Jah Reid doesn't count at this point). If our arrests tally stood at Taliaferro breaking a taxi window (and paying for it after), Jimmy being a well-meaning dope and getting into a yelling match with a cop and Deonte carrying marijuana then this would be a pretty uninteresting offseason all up.

But factor in the Ray Rice incident and all these other guys have suddenly started a "death by a thousand cuts" thing for our reputation. We're getting that criminals tag back and it's getting to the point where I think everyone's just sick of the arrests - no matter how big or small they are.

From now on I think they should just get together and play Scrabble every night until the preseason starts. ^_^

You know what he meant.

Well, if he knows there's a door, and I'm pretty nobody guards the bathroom doors to make sure only the one gender enters....seems like a real silly question to me

Wonder how Jimmy got in the girls bathroom....??Just doesn't add up to me.

I don't believe Jimmy did anything wrong here...  and to your discussion about a guy in the women's bathroom...  Well, Back in my hay-days...  I have to admit that I did get somewhat intoxicated one evening...  and I actually did have a good friend (who was a male) who came into the ladies room and helped me out.  Very glad it was him.  Been grateful to him ever since...  and he is actually now my best friend's husband....  Was a really good guy.  I would trust him with just about anything...  Just sayin....  I don't think Jimmy did anything wrong, other than try to help a lady... he wanted to hang with her to make sure that everything was OK...  and maybe got a little "into himself" about it...  and that's about it.

Do you mean why?

As in did he help her into the bathroom

Or did he bust the door down like some super hero saving a damsel in distress

I think someone said on the first pages people were calling for him to be made into an example and suspended and some people are saying how this will affect his new contract.

Notice how I said this SITE. Go into the news section and people are calling for his suspension, saying he should be cut because these players need to be taught a lesson, saying he won't get a contract. I mean, hell, I've seen people reference his past issues (which, I believe, were from his freshman and sophomore year) and saying we should have known his past would come out, as if this is anything big.

I didn't say you or everyone, but the articles I've seen written lately in response to this most recent arrest and the ESPN segment on our arrests is people overreacting.

Ìf anyone needs an example made of them its ray rice, not jimmy smith

I wouldn't mind that, honestly, because he is the highest profile player and isn't likely to be a great schematic fit in this new offense...

Absolutely....  Check out Mike Preston's article...  blown out of proportion too.
