Merged: Andre Johnson asking for a Trade?

56 posts in this topic

the kitchen sink? The state of Texas? My entire Guitar collection).

Again. Ngata is the only one id consider trading for him cause it'd be a win win. We become instant SB contenders. We get an UNSTOPPABLE WR corps of Andre-Torrey-Steve in the slot along with Pitta and Daniels at TE. If the rumors are true and Ray rice returns to form or Pierce breaks out. We have a loaded offense.

We lose a stud DT, but over the past 3 drafts we've spent 5 picks on Dlinemen. So we have the depth to compensate. They'll never be as good as Ngata but they won't be so bad that they'll falter.

They'd have one of the better front sevens in football.

Ngata-Nix-Watt

Clowney-Mays-Cushing-Whitney M

As compensation we could throw in a Marlon Brown, so that way Hopkins isn't the only one there. But all in all, it would be a win win.

Ngata and Marlon Brown for Andre and a late rounder

It's what I'd do. It's not happening. With my scenario we can't afford it but my gut tells me NE

Wow, you must really want AJ?

Would you trade a 2 and a 5? I've heard that as rumored compensation. Personally I question the likelihood of him being moved. But it's mid July. Why not wild speculation.

I'd give a 3rd and a 4th. Not a 2nd. Not at this point. You can now double cover him (but not single cover him) at this point in his career. But they won't in our offense so maybe a 2nd and a 5th.

We are a #1 WR away from being a SB team. We have two very good #2 WRs in Smith and Smith Sr. A hell of a #4 in Jacoby and an unknown in Marlon. I'm confident that between Wagner and Hurst we have our RT(could be wrong). And we have two good TEs as spent an entire draft on defense. If we could somehow get Andre without losing anyone AND the running game gets going again this could be our year

I think he's going to Cinci actually. They have so much money and with that supporting cast (Green, Andre, Marvin, Sanu, Eifert, Gresham, Gio, Hill) I'd bet my money on them even with Dalton

No way mike brown makes a move like that. 0% chance. It makes sense. But that type of move has never been their mo.

I guess old habits do die Hard. But they'd have nothing to lose.

We have to be one of the four though. Kubiak knows him better than anyone

That wouldn't do them any favours when they have to pay Lolton and Green in particular. And isn't Geno Atkins still on his rookie contract? They have money now, but they'll need it during the next couple of years.

money is the problem here, im sure our FO would be ecstatic to have him but his cap hit for the next three years is absolutely ridiculous, we'd have to sacrifice multiple players (whether that be cap casualties or through the trade itself) to bring him in and I'd rather not give up young talent to try and get him (i.e. Marlon Brown). We arent the kind of team to sacrifice the future for one or two seasons, thats why we are a great franchise and, apart from last year, have been the model for consistency because we have players ready for that "next man up" philosophy and we didnt have to break the bank to get them

We would sign him to a new contract and structure it best for the team. That's not that difficult.

you're assuming he would want to do that. If it were easy we'd sign a ton of big names and just restructure, it takes two parties to restructure, thats not that difficult

He already stated he would. He's the one that wants out of Houston forcacreason. Any contender is going to have to sign him to a new deal.

before reading a single post, id like to request this thread get locked. zero chance we get johnson, the odds that ozzie has even had a sliver of a thought about johnson are slim to none. move this to "other nfl teams"

I was hyping Ngata for AJ since February... We have the depth, lets do it man, they have a young D-Line Ngata would make them beastly(er).. Seriously

Andre
Torrey
Steve
Jacoby
Owen
Pitta

Who is stopping that, nobody thats who.

How can you be so sure he hasn't at least looked at the situation. The Chances are slim yes, but Ozzie would do a disservice to himself to not look at a HOF WR on the market.

Merged this with the other since Andre is still under contract with the Texans

Good call. One thread is enough.

Be nice if we could bring him in, but the thought's just a little on the optimistic side. If we had to dramatically restructure a deal, that'd bury us down the line cap-wise. Fun thought, but I can't see him in Ravens colours (unless jersey swapping's a thing in the NFL...).

at this point in his career, im more than certain that most, if not all teams interested, he has got to realize that whoever he may go with, the deal will have to be restructured. He must realize that time in the NFL is fleeting and short, therefore he is looking to go to a contending team that's vying for the Superbowl rather than a rebuilding one. So that eliminates a few teams off the bat. When you talk about Superbowl Contenders , one cant ignore the Ravens whom seem to have rebuilt their team to be a much capable force than it was a year before, Couple that with Kubiak's history with Andre, and THATS where this Dre'-Ravens idea is coming from.... he has at least thought of the idea. Patriots are hit and miss, their glory days of '01, '03, '04 are gone, and im not sure Johnson would like to go to a team that's been up and down at best in recent years, rather than a steady force. Bronco's and 9ers could be a option with both of them on the cusp of making it big, But again, the Ravens have the personal connection and they're not a team that's rebuilding ( more or less) they look to be a team this year that could be a strong force and make it back to the promise land

so in my mind at least........and Dre's desire not to go to a rebuilding team, his options are potentially: Ravens, Broncos, 49ers, Seahawks. Packers. Patriots.

when it comes to actually making the move for the Ravens, it all comes down to money. and If Ozzie sees that we can, we surely will. with a restructuring, everyone knows from an outside source looking in, that no team will take on a 33 year old WR with a 10 million figure.

at this point in time however, it looks as though, no team will get him as the Texans have come out and said they are not trading him. http://www.rotoworld.com/headlines/nfl/289954/report-texans-wont-trade-andre-johnson

From that link it said the Texans would still be on the hook for $12M if they traded Andre Johnson. That's crazy and also means he's not going anywhere, imo.

If Cleveland wants to keep making more noise and since they do need a receiver. Plus they do have the cap room, I can see them doing it. Takes away from the negative that is Johnny Celebrity plus with Lebron returning, and if they get Andre, there would be hope for all sports in Cleveland for once lol.

Well - I'm not holding my breath but I wouldn't complain if Ozzie managed to snag him.

How ..just awesome would that be?

Wow Texans would eat 12m by trading him and the acquiring team would take on 16m cap hit? Case closed. Sorry Andre, but you sir, are not going anywhere. Enjoy Houston.
