For a 6th and we give them McClain and a 7th. Good trade for both teams IMO.

I think we robbed them to be honest.

Sweet, free pick in the exact middle of the sixth. Not a bad pickup after all that.

So Ozzie got the pick back, that he traded to Cleveland to get Campanaro in this years draft. Nice.

Dallas has been 8-8 the past three seasons, if they do worst and end up in the top ten, it's almost like a 5th round pick for us and say we win the Super Bowl, they gained a UDFA. One positive way to look at it.

Does anyone know what year the picks in the trade are? I assume we sent our 7th in 2015 and we gained Dallas' 6th in 2015. I haven't read any specifics other than a 6th and 7th round picks.

No way.  McClain plans to play and with how weak their ILB core is just the fact that he is playing will make this a good trade for them.

We win as well since we upgraded our 7th to a 6th by trading a player from our most talented position who probably would have never seen the field.

Great trade for both sides.

Did he unretire again? I thought I read he had re-retired after coming back for like, three days?

It's ok. He'll never see the field in Dallas anyway bc he's so out of football shape it's not even funny. We just traded a 7th rounder for a 6th rounder...

Do what that what you will

I think he kept his butt home and didn't show up for us because he knew he would have to compete with a lot of top level talent at ILB. Dallas doesn't have that talent so he may get some real playing time if he can get it together. He might end up being the best player on their D which ain't really saying much

I honestly don't get it? There is so many better cheaper free agents on the market. But whatever not my team.

"What's with this McClain guy retiring, then un-retiring, then retiring again only to change his mind and un-retire a second time?

Doesn't he know you're supposed to only talk about retiring over and over, not actually do it? Kids these days..."

6th (via Dallas for Rolando McClain)

lol more like great trade for us and AWFUL trade for Dallas. The odds are higher of Lebron playing in China next year than Rolando salvaging his NFL career at this point. We all saw first hand what a mental case this kid is, between the off field issues and mental issues he's proven himself to be one of the least reliable and unstable players you could possibly sign to your team much less trade for.

Absolute desperation move by Dallas to try to compensate for Sean Lee. Rolando at any given time could just decide he's not feeling football right now and he's done, if those are the kinds of players you would invest valuable future draft picks in then your not a very good NFL GM.

Don't forget that Rolando will be heading back to the 4-3 D in Dallas, where he doesn't really fit.

Your right but Rolando is so far gone that's pretty much irrelevant at this point. When you have the kind of mental issues with the arrests and retiring and un-retiring it goes far beyond football. If Rolando can ever get the point in his NFL career again where things like what formation he's playing in can out weigh things like "Is he going to retire this week?" "Is he going to get arrested this weekend?" than he will have come a very long way.

A GM would have to be out of their mind to invest ANY pick in a player with the issues Rolando has, like I said it goes way beyond football with him, it's a matter of his mental stability and maturity. Thankfully for us we had just the idiot for the job, thanks Jerreh!

Well at least Rolando will get to play and cowboys will find a way to get extra press. Meanwhile we get a higher draft pick. Different team, different agenda. Win-win!

Agreed. So I guess this means he wants to resume his career, but not with us. I find that... interesting.

I think he realized that he'd actually have to try here, and he was probably having second thoughts about coming back, but us drafting Mosley ruined all of his chances of playing here.  In Dallas, he's got a wide open shot at the starting job.

So if he decides he wants to retire again before the season starts, is that 6th round pick protected?

We traded the rights to his contract and the Cowboys officially picked it up, so I'd assume so.

my thinking is that it must be. Or maybe we'd get our 7th round pick back in that case. I can't see agreement happening unless it's one of the two.

What if Oz, using his Alabama connections, told him to do something good for us and act like he's interested in playing again? :P

The cowboys are giving up a late-round pick and taking on a 700k contract. That is very little risk to take a chance on a player that could potentially help fill a huge hole. They need all the LB's they can get as they are extremely thin there and honestly the chances of that late round pick making an impact for them aren't that much greater than McClain doing so IMO. Also they wouldn't have done the deal if they don't think he'll play. Either way I don't get how this is an "AWFUL" trade with the very little risk it brings.

Can we throw in Jah Reid?

Or keep Gino (to see how he develops as a backup) and just trade Reid?

I don't see how any team would want to deal with this guy, let alone trade for him but I'm glad we got something in return. I don't know how Ozzie continues to do it, but to get a 6th for this guy is great. I'll definitely be on the look out for what or who that pick will turn in to.

I'll gladly take it.  We managed to get something out of a guy that clearly wasn't in our plans.  That's always a win.

I'm ecstatic to get a 6th rounder. Shucks wish we could swap a 6th and him for a 5th lol.

I think Ozzie shoulda put a performance clause in. Like if he starts 50% of games, reaches 70 tackles pick escalates to a 5th. ( that way if the kid does actually play we could luck up )

of course its a win. I'm just amazed at how Ozzie continues to do it. We give up a 7th for a 6th and a guy we neither want nor need. We are almost assured to get a couple Comp picks between Graham, Digg and Art. I'm sure Steward will cancel one of those picks out but we should still get at least 2. So maybe we'll 4th and 5th or 6th. Right now I'm not sure what positions will be deep in next years draft but I'll definitely follow that 6th round pick we just got.

Oher too, so we should get 3.  I'd be happy with 9 total picks.

Dallas Cowboys are run by idiots buff said.

Good riddance. Rolando squandered all my good will toward him after the second retirement. It's kind of a joke at this point

Jerry Jones trading with Ozzie Newsome is like Kwame Brown playing basketball against Lebron James. Bad idea.

To be fair, as much as I like to laugh at Dallas expense, they were desperate for this trade ever since Sean Lee went down, than again Lee has a history with injury, so it shouldn't have come to them as a surprise. I'm just glad, we managed to get rip of all that added drama that comes with McClain. We had enough of that already.

WOW it's crazy how quickly I've forgotten about Oher. I was actually a fan of the guy, but I will not miss his inconsistency.

Yea 9 picks would be great, it'd give us enough flexibility to move around if needed. Of course you can't trade the comps, but we have more then enough tradable picks imo. I love how the Ravens put so much value on the late round picks and I think with the switch to the new offense, we'll start to see some late round offensive players blossom like we typically see with defensive guys.

I wonder if other fan bases get excited about a 6th round pick as much as we do?
