Destiny

I didn't see this topic started sorry it was already. I want to know if anyone is excited for this game besides me? I want to get a PS4 just so I can play this game. Hopefully by the time it comes out I will have saved up enough to buy one if not I will be playing on the x1.

I actually just preordered the PS4 Destiny bundle because it has a limited edition white PS4 that will fit perfectly with my limited edition white PS3, haha. I know, I know but a black PS4 wouldn't look right next to it...

As far as the game goes, I'm just as excited as you are for it!

Not long now...less than two weeks.

Sorry Perfekt, I will be playing on my shiny new white Destiny-edition PS4. It will look nice next to my white PS3 :)

If I get the game it won't be for a while, but I have to say those commercials for this game are some of the greatest I've ever seen for a game.

The game does look beautiful and is very polished. The controls are smooth and the shooting feels natural. I like the RPG elements too. The game however is repetitive and offers the most basic storyline I've ever seen with not many memorable characters. I've found myself backtracking a lot on NEW missions. I've been in the same buildings over and over. It's like the developers were like "Eh, it looks beautiful. The players only care about graphics. They won't mind that the game literally offers nothing else." Even COD games offers more variety. Even the most basic free to play MMO is done better. When you're in a mission and you see another dude playing too, there is no game chat. You can't talk to him. He's just there. It's still fun to play, but not for too long. I'm just expecting a true next gen experience when a game like this is hyped so much. People say it gets more fun after level 20, so I'll keep playing it. I do also like the multiplayer. It just feels like an incomplete game that had a ton of promise.

This game looks epic. Everyone that I've asked who has played it says it's awesome.

The game is getting a lot of mediocre reviews. The story is non existent and the gameplay is repetitive.

However, I'm loving every minute of it. People allowed themselves to get overhyped yet again. I suggest reading reviews and deciding for yourself but the bottom line is the game is a lot of fun to play.

You are right. It is fun to play and I even enjoyed the beta. I allowed myself to get overhyped. I just feel like it could be so much more coming from Bungie and Activision.

My issue with a lot of the negativity is, while not a perfect comparison, Diablo 3 is very similar. The story is presented better but nobody cares Diablo 3's story. That game end up being the exact thing as Destiny which is a repetitive level grind for loot. And I love both games because of it.

It I wanted a compelling story I would have waited and bought Dragon Age Inquisition or The Witcher 3. I wanted to shoot aliens in the face and Destiny gives me that in spade. haha

Edit: The one thing that does bug me is what they did with the Grimoire cards. They are essentially journals that you find in other games that fill in the backstory of the game except someone in Bungie thought it would be a good idea to separate them from the game itself and instead make it something you have to look up separately online. That was so stupid. Sucker Punch did the same thing with Infamous Second Son but that was for 1 free piece of DLC not core story elements of a brand new IP.

Just got to lvl 24. Just playing the crucible right now trying to legendary loot. Despite all its flaws I do really like the game. The Crucible(multiplayer) is really fun as is playing strikes with friends. I have a feeling the expansions will offer more story than the actual game.

I like this game alot, i guess i just love grinding out the same stuff over and over haha, played diablo 2 LoD online for a long time, ive noticed they used the same levels, but ive also noticed when you go in the same cave or so, you usually go deeper into it

I have been MIA here because of this game. All of the people complaining about it assumed it would be like Halo and are coming from a military First Person Shooter background in gaming, they don't comprehend loot based RPGs/MMOs that require you to grind which is what this game is, it just happened to come in a FPS-style shell, kind of like the only other FPS series I actually enjoy: Borderlands. They think everything should be handed to them because "I came in 1st in my Crucible match and I didn't get anything!" Sorry but the Crucible is just a side area created by Bungie in an attempt to sate these neanderthals.

I've been grinding and farming loot in games since I was 12 trying to get parts off of enemies for ultimate weapons in Final Fantasy VIII so the grind doesn't bother me. The story could have been a little more in depth but that is literally my only complaint about the game because I do love story-driven games, especially sci-fi ones. I give it a very solid 9/10, my main character is a level 27 Hunter and I and my friends still find plenty to keep us entertained with this game.

I don't come from a military first person shooter background. I just like a solid game with immersive story and freedom. This feels like a game with a good shell and a bad core. When you have been a gamer for so long, played it all and seen it all, it just becomes tiring to see games hyped up only to realize the developers were lazy. With all the stuff you like about this game, you have to admit there is a part of you that knows they could've done so much more. That's fine if you love this game, but I'm tired of settling for what the gaming industry puts out. I wanna be blown away. Yeah, the gameplay and graphics are fantastic and it's good for people that like to grind, but it doesn't feel next gen to me. I don't like going to the same areas over and over and facing dumb AI. It just feels mindless. Good game that could've been better.

Glad to hear they patched the Cryptarch and R.I.P. loot cave exploit :( . Probably the most frustrating aspect of this game's loot system is the damn cryptarch and that everything is completely random(in a bad way). Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor will probably keep me away from this for quite a while.

I generally do agree with you actually but you must understand that the main reason the game may feel that way to you is not because of the developer but the publisher. I'm not absolving Bungie of any flaws here but Activision is the primary proponent of "dumbing" the game down.

I read an AMA on reddit last week from an anonymous Bungie employee who said they wanted the game to be along the lines of an MMO Mass Effect which would have been absolutely amazing for me and many others. Unfortunately, Activision with their Call of Duty - revolving minds didn't feel like something like that would sell as well so they ordered them to "casual it up" and as a result the story got hacked to ribbons. Now this could have been someone just trolling, but so much of what was said in the AMA makes sense that it is difficult to see that.

In conclusion, yes I agree this game could have been so much better if publishers would just let developers...um develop. As it is, I still have a lot of fun with this game and will continue to do so. It's not as though this is the first, or last, time a AAA game has been hindered by money hungry publishing giant.
