I didn't realize that market was the determining factor in HoF decisions, not the play of the players. And rings also will not be a deciding factor for a guard.

He's going to have to return to form and keep it up for five or more years, but he could make it

human beings picking, everything Is a factor in the decision even though it shouldn't be

Yeah they will. Russ Grimm only has four pro bowls, but his four Superbowls got him in.

He won one as a coach, three as a player.

Was he not just a good player? Because I'm pretty sure Charles Haley and his five rings haven't gotten in

I was saying Yanda having one won't stop him from getting in if he deserves it

That's exactly right. How many SBs did Dan Marino win? It was his stellar play alone that got him to Canton. I know it's much tougher for a guard to get to the HOF, but winning a SB is a product of playing on a team capable of winning, and not necessarily your individual play.

And the one as a coach was with the steelers, not the skins.

I'm not saying rings can't make an impact for certain positions, but a guard?

I think it's tough for OL to make it in unless they are undisputed among the best at their position for a long stretch of time, like 8-10 years. The issue comes from what makes an OLineman the best. Pro Bowls and All Pro teams are certainly two of the things that gets a player recognized by the media. Championships will certainly help, but I think it's further down the totem pole. Someone like Russ Grimm gets in because he was probably the best player of a very recognizable unit that was highly successful and key to the teams success.

That's the word I was looking for... Recognition

Superbowls pro bowls all pro brings recognition

Obviously didn't mean player needs a certain amount of those to make it into HOF
