2015 Draft a Franchise (NBA): Discussion.

Love is the best PF in the nba and it's not close imho

Mr. Refuses to play defense, and most overrated player in basketball right now? Yeah. Griffin force makes good commercials and is a good player but Aldrige has a better game. He's excellent in the post and has range far exceeding Griffin's. Griffin may have improved his mid ranger, Aldrige is automatic. He's a meh defender but is a monster on the glass, while the leading rebounder does most of the dirty work on Griffin force's team.

You're from Cali and hate everyone who lives there, so stop hating lol. Blake averaged 9.5 rebounds last season which isn't bad in his own right.

How they compare among the league leaders:

Blake: 4th in field goals made. 9th in attempts.

LA: T6th in field goals made. 3rd in attempts.

Blake: 2nd in FT attempts, 5th in free throws made.

LA: N/A (not in top 20)

Blake: total rebounds: 757 (12th)

LA: total rebounds: 765 (10th)

Blake: 9th in PER

LA: 15th

Blake: Higher win offensive/defensive/win share %, (kind've equivalent to WAR in baseball)

Yeah I know, It's not all about stats and LA missed some games, but Blake is far from overrated at this point in his career. 3 years ago I would agree with you.

Wow, just saw you grabbed Noah. Great pick.

I don't know why but I had hope he would fall to me and I could pair him and Blake up to form a great duo of passing bigs. Just hope you don't run into Neńe. ;)

Anyone who's followed DeMarcus Cousins knows how good he is. He was one of my favorite players coming out of college and has rapidly improved every year. He is now the best scoring center in the NBA and is improving his defense greatly. He's also one of the best rebounders in the NBA but the scariest part? He's only 23

We're referring to the same player. No, the other is the same age as Griffin.

Griffin is more athletic and is the better distributor between the two, but the other was a better rebounder, is more polished as a post scorer with a better repertoire, and is a better mid-range shooter. He was simply unguardable in the Postseason. That's coming from someone who watched both teams closely this season. Griffin has been terrific as a P&R roll man and has finally begun developing as a low post scorer, but I believe that he's also benefited from the passing abilities of Chris Paul. Can't argue much about the development, though Griffin could be near his ceiling offensively as it stands.

It may be a matter of opinion, but beyond the stats, he was better than Griffin last season.

Curiously enough Griffin's best numbers this year was when Paul was hurt

Fantastic pick, he was top 5 in dbl-dbl's too.

Give him a better supporting cast or put him in a big market and he will be a big time star

Leonard is one of the best two way players in the league and only 22 so I can understand the pick but i wouldn't have made it

I love Leonard as a player, but there are so many better players on the board. I think the last two NBA finals performances have made him look way better than he is. He's a great defender and a solid third, maybe second option at best on offense. He is very efficient when he's on the floor, but I also think that a lot of it is owed to the Spurs' system. Maybe in a few years I'll be proved wrong but that's my opinion.

Aldridge also benefited playing with his beast of a PG. I agree he's better at those 3 attributes, but not by much. You're right though, he was unguardable against Houston in the playoffs. He became human again once they met up with SA, but still had an overall great performance.

I think it's apples & oranges. But I think we both agree they're not far apart from another and Blake is younger so I think it makes him the best option for building a franchise. Blake's shooting development these last two years have been no joke. I think he'll keep progressing and get better the more polished he gets.

Lillard is far more of a scoring PG. He's a solid distributor, but there's perhaps one PG in the NBA who is on Paul's level when it comes to distributing. Agreed there.

Perhaps so. Although you did just compare the two directly in a reply to SecretAgentMan. We certainly do agree that they're not far apart. Can't argue much about the age. But although he's improved his mid-range jumper this season, I'm not sold on how much further it will develop. He may hover at about 40% next season, which is more than serviceable, but I'd be surprised at anything significantly higher. I was more impressed by his development and confidence in the paint. He routinely powered his way inside, put the ball on the deck more, and had a very effective spin move. I thought the hook shot was his outstanding. He proved to be more than just a slasher and a P&R roll man this year.

Seeing where Rose would get drafted was the most interesting for me. I think it's a round too early to be honest. I'm a huge fan of his but there's no telling if he'll ever play at his high level again.

I don't hate the warriors

893 and 467. Those are the amounts of shots that Aldridge and Griffin took from the mid-range, respectively. 459 and 809 are what they shot in the paint. Therefore, Aldridge's FG numbers are more impressive. The huge discrepancy between their numbers in the paint is why Aldridge didn't rank as a volume FT shooter, though he was significantly more efficient on the line(81% shooter, which for a big man is pretty good).

FG percentage plays into the PER calculation. The fact that Aldridge isn't far behind despite taking what is likely to be the most amount of perimeter shots among all big men is indication of how well he played.

I just couldn't pass on Rose. Was going back and forth between him and the you all know who and decided to bite a bullet. Huge risk but my hope is that he's done with his share of bad luck. We'll see. I do have a backup in mind but not just yet.

Ok. But how is Blake the most overrated player in the league?

I'm exaggerating in that regard. I think he's overrated but not the most overrated. If I had to seriously think about it'd be Kobe at this point in his career bc ppl think he'll come back

Was hoping that Drummond would fall a bit. Terrific classic Center. Rebounds and protects the rim at a top tier level.

I'm expecting Kobe to come back strong and have a good year. Not a good year for him, but still play like a top 5 SG. (Which isn't saying much).

Interesting question though. I think Harden is overrated but I don't know if I'd call him the most. A lot of people think of him as the best SG in the game right now. I have trouble saying that because of how poorly he is on defense. The best is supposed to be the best all around IMO. He's the best offensive SG but the guy on Memphis is still the best defensively. Best all around though? I don't know. It's a weak position so Harden's skill on offense puts him on top even though he's so bad on the other end.
