2015 Draft a Franchise (NBA): Discussion.

Knew that my pick would get some hate. And I understand it. So many good and proven players left on the board, but I don't think he would've lasted until my next pick. Embiid reminds me too much on Olajuwon. The Dream was the reason I started watching Basketball, so I just had to take him.

Interesting pick because he drafted Curry first round.

He listed curry as a SG remember

Yatagarasu did the same thing last year and tbh I'm not a fan. I say he's a PG

The pick is in. Passed on one of my highest rated players twice. But I couldn't let Al Horford by. The reoccurring pectoral injury is a significant concern. However, he sounded confident and determined an interview on the update that he would return to form. I know it's a different sport, but Brian Orakpo's ability to put two pectoral tears on the same side behind him does add some reason for optimism considering that he plays a contact sport. That being said, I consider Horford to be a quality player on both sides of the floor. I will likely move him to Power Forward, a position he's been vocal about wanting to play permanently, and where he was very effective in Atlanta's last Playoff trip with him in the line up. Offensively, he's a very good perimeter shooter for a big man, a solid rebounder, and somebody who scores well in the paint. Above all, he's very efficient and is comfortable with being a Beta scorer, so I like the fit. It hurts to pass up the other player, but I'll live with Horford.

DAMN U TRUTH

Big Al was my next pick

Sorry about that. Definitely makes me feel better about the selection. Good taste on your end.

I don't think these rookies should be going so early.

I concur.  It usually takes some time in the NBA.

I'm so mad I really thought I'd steal Horford at my next pick

I'm relieved to hear that since I considered passing on him.

Solid pick in Greg Monroe, stm85.

Thanks. I think he pairs well with Bosh in my front court. Neither is fantastic rim protector so that's something I'll have to take care of later but at the end of the day Bosh is a pretty good defender and Monroe is improving there. What I really like is his ability to pass the ball out of the high post, something the Pistons didn't take advantage of enough this past year. He is one of the best passing big men in the NBA so it could give Chris Paul a sorely needed chance to work off the ball every now and again and attack defenses from another angle. Plus he's a gifted offensive player and a great rebounder. With Monroe, CP3, and Bosh, I should have one of the best passing teams out there.

I'd pause before calling Chris Bosh a pretty good defender. That's coming from somebody who's been watching Miami at a very high volume. I think he's highly underrated in P&R situations, but his post defense hasn't been there, and he's failed to close out on spot up shooters more than I could count. His defense is so-so.

Perhaps it's an effort thing. I've seen him play very well defensively and I've also witnessed him play very poorly. Edited by NFLfan123

He can play better than he plays on average defensively. I'm not exactly sure what to attribute the inconsistency to.

That's fair, although I'd think he'd be a better post defender playing against 4s than 5s. Monroe is considerably better at C so I plan on keeping Bosh mostly at PF where his athletic but lean frame will match up better.

Regardless, I'm excited about the possibilties that Monroe's passing opens up. With him and CP3 there will be a lot of cutters found for easy baskets. CP3, as well as the rest of my players, can become a weapon on frequent backdoor cuts, which only adds to the already nightmarish task of defending him.

That's fair to assume. He did switch to PF with Chris Andersen on the floor so Center wasn't his permanent position, and I preferred him better at PF.

Monroe is a very good passer so between him and Paul, you have a dependable facilitator in the backcourt and the front court.

Only concern for me is his injury, but he's still one of the top offensive and very very good defensive centers in the league.

My whole board got wiped out, but I really really wanted Horford
