2014-2015 NBA Season

Yeah, I gathered that would be the case - especially with the tanktastic job your FO's doing atm. Apparently it's a very different atmosphere to Eagles or Flyers games.

Is there anywhere with decent food (and preferably beer) near the stadium? Or any specialty Philadelphia meal to recommend? Wherever I go I like to make a habit of trying out that place's signature dish - it's kinda depressing to see people go to McDonald's or Starbucks when they travel.

Well, our signature dish is certainly the cheesesteak. My favorite cheesesteak in the city, however, is nowhere near the stadium. You really can't go wrong at any of the top spots, though. If you want to get the true "experience" of a Philly cheesesteak joint, try Pat's or Geno's (right across the street from each other on 9th & Passyunk or Tony Luke's on Oregon Ave under I-95 (all of these are just a few minutes from the stadiums). If all you want is the actual cheesesteak, Campo's in the arena is just fine.

As far as local bars, most in South Philly are pretty "South Philly". Not meaning that in a negative connotation, just saying you might not feel super comfortable with the regulars. One exception is Chickie & Pete's. They have a large beer selection, no entrees, but a big variety of appetizers and munchies (I recommend the crab fries). If you're a gamer, they have booths at the bar to go in a play all kinds of games on almost any console you can think of to kill time before the game. Then, you can ride the shuttle right from the restaurant to the stadium and back and come back after for more refreshments. I also like the bars and clubs in the actual arena, and the Xfinity Live right in the parking lot is built for sports fans looking to drink and eat (many bars, one place). You might find yourself wanting to stay there for the game, as it's nearly like watching it live in that atmosphere.

Appreciate the tips, it looks like the stadium's in a nice little area. Looking forward to it already.

Have to say though, with that most recent Ravens result the NBA can't come soon enough

My Blazers beat the Cavs last night and they've been talking about the negatives of the Cavs non stop instead of giving the Blazers credit for kicking butt. Somehow I feel like I've heard a similar script to this. Just can't put my finger on it.................

The game itself was a lot of fun to watch, especially for two sides who are pretty much at rock bottom and moving their way up - and the Tobias Harris buzzer beater to win was sweet to watch :D . I thought the crowd was really charged up too, which was great to see for a team that's winless to date. Moments like that are what make the glorious return to the top even sweeter imo (similar story with the team in my avatar, but I digress).

I hoped to spend a bit more time around the Philly area, but I really only had time to swing by the Liberty Bell on the way to Geno's for a pre-match feed. I can see why cheese steaks are a big deal, and it's nice to have gotten the real thing in South Philly.

Don't look now, but my Blazers held the Cavs and Mavs to under 90 points. Heck yes!

Holding the mavs under 90 was impressive. Cavs are a train wreck right now

Don't remind me. Should the Cavs lose to Denver tonight, we'll hear all about it.

We're getting pretty lucky but I'll most definitely take it

I was a little worried when they lost Trevor but they seem to be ok without him.

Cool!

Great start for both teams. I don't think the Rockets have the depth to contend. But they have looked awesome so far. Shocked at how much better Ariza has become from his first stint with the Rockets. Perfect fit.

Houston vs Memphis will be a great matchup this year. Inside-out with an emphasis on D for both teams and the two best centers in the game. Reminds of the good old days. Harden has actually made a complete u-turn with his D, hopefully he can keep it up and step up as a leader.

Could be wrong.. Haven't watched barely any of Houston this year yet (didn't have money to get league pass this year... Sigh) but

Seems like if you can get dwight in early foul trouble and hope to control harden you could control Houston because of depth as you mentioned.. But

Harden averaging 26/7/7 is just ridiculous and if Beverly keeps scoring double digits and shooting anywhere near 50% they are gonna be real tough

Sure, controlling the one star and getting the other star in foul trouble gets you along way. Especially since Houston don't have depth.

But is just seems like a different ballclub this year. More focused. Everybody is playing their role. Emphasis on D. And it seems like everyone is buying it. Ariza's D is so much better that Parsons, and he's lights out from long range, so I actually think he's a better fit. Parsons is the better offensive player, but Houston needed that perimeter defender, and a player that knows his role like Ariza, so it's looking real good.

Same with Dwight, he looks better than last year. Stronger, fitter and looks more confident and focused. His presence on defense have been incredible.

Yeah they're looking good...When Ariza is hot, he's HOT. He had about 5 sprees like this on the Wiz last year.

I don't hate em I just don't believe they can get by the better teams in postseason....Harden has been ridiculous with getting to the line. Is he still averaging double figures from free throws?

Haven't been following the stats, but I think he is.

The real difference is in his defense though.

I hate how Wittman goes with the whole bench at a time instead of sprinkling them in. It's a pretty bad second 5 to rely on for minutes on in

Miller, Otto, butler, Gooden and serafin. Yuck

Was just at the Orlando-Wolves game, and it was an absolute cracker. :D

Elfrid Payton is a candidate for Rookie of the Year imo, and Aaron Gordon was great tonight - much better than I thought he'd be at this point in his career. Really interested to see what Harris can do for us this season.

Oh no, he missed one assignment... Probably can't find one of these on any other players in the league.

The Rockets and Harden included have played fantastic defense so far and are 7-1 with a point differencial of 11+ points.

If Harden reverts to the way he played defense last year. Have a go at him. But highlighting that play right there is just plain stupid.
