We could ask them to throw in a toaster to sweeten the deal.

A brave little toaster?

This video disagrees...

Sorry that it is such a common song on youtube videos and the quality but this was the best video I saw of Reed's hits, enjoy

thank you! reed at a young age was a straight up missile. he came in for hits so fast you would see receivers running into a blur and then they be on their back.

people really forget this about ed, he was one of the hardest hitting db's of his time before the injuries began piling up

He can play! But he hits harder than Ed ever did!

Then you haven't seen how Ed Reed use to play in his 1st 3years. I would argue Ed was a MUCH better SS in Ed's 1st 3 year then Troy Polamalu 1st 3years.

Actually troy wouldn't even sniff what Reed did in any category on Troy's rookie contract. SS or FS..

I remember how upset steelers fans were when Troy didn't make the top 100 players of all time and Ed did.

And to compare Berry to Reed should be a crime

I'm just thinking worst case scenario!

Nothing wrong with such thinking but Terrence Brooks can't really be a bust after his first year in The NFl.  Darian Stewart really isn't a bad player at all and The Ravens were said to be pretty high on him before he was signed.Stewart just needs to stay healthy .

Because Bery is already devloped starting over I meant developing a player, which will take at least 3 years to do so. I want a safety ready to play now!

I'm not saying that Brooks will be an immediate starter but he can develop in under 3 years. He is ready to play now, maybe not as a full-time starter but in a situational role. In looking for a veteran we picked up Stewart.

I'm concerned about the safety position as well, but this is just not realisitic in any way. We don't need a SS anyway.

I wish we had been able to keep Ihedigbo, but his loss is not catastrophic.

Yeah Reed had his share of big hits, even back in 2009 when he blew up Moreno or in the playoffs the 2010 year when he blew up McCluster.

Dude I know Ed Reed is the Greatest Safety to ever play the game and yes even better than Ronnie Lott! No questions asked.

You guy are mising my point. I want a saftey that is as close to Ed Reed in his prime as possible!

I am using Ed Reed as a Measuring Point to the calibur of Safety we should have!

Why expend an invaluable first round draft choice for Berry who, despite being a very good player, will also minimize the return value of younger players like Elam and Brooks?

While you're at it, why don't you ask for a LB that is as close to Ray Lewis in his prime as well.  A left tackle like Jonathan Ogden and we'll be set FOREVER.

/sarcasm.

Nothing wrong with wanting a playmaking safety but I don't  think  we should use Ed Reed as a measuring point  towards the expectations of our rookie safety or starting safety. i think doing that will constantly leave you disappointed even if the safety  is pretty solid.
