Ray Rice Suspended 2 Games

886 posts in this topic

Gordon got busted for marijuana again last night. That's the 100th time this off season. If he was busted once and got a year long suspension I would understand, but eventually it gets to the point where you can't even defend the guy.And this is coming from a pot smoker.

It was Blackmon who got busted last night.

Don't know if I'm glad to be a ravens fan and happy it's only two games or wish I wasn't a ravens fan so I could cry about it only being two games..

It was never gonna be more than 4. Rice is a first time offender and he was never convicted.

Personally, I think it should've been more, but the precedent had been set. Goodell had a chance to make an example out of Rice and decided not to.

Didn't hear about Gordon. He was busted about a month ago iirc. It was announced he was appealing the year long suspension then he gets a DUI that night

I was honestly expecting more.  I thought maybe the 6-8 some were reporting was pushing it way too far, but I was thinking it was going to be 4 the entire time.  This is the best case scenario for Ray Rice and the Ravens, because, let's be real, he wasn't going to get away with no suspension.  I'm sure his past history of being a genuinely good guy helped with the situation.

With all of that being said, I do hope the NFL begins to amend the length of suspension for such crimes.  Despite you having to be a knucklehead and get caught multiple times with substances, it still shouldn't be a larger suspension than offenses like this.  As a Ravens fan, it's good to see him only get a 2 game suspension.  If I put aside my fandom, I do think it should have been more.

Along with the decision not to prosecute, I guess this proves that this whole thing was blown way out of proportion by the media and the folks that listened to them. It would seem that the 2 game suspension is commensurate with bringing all of the bad press upon the NFL brand, and is not a punishment for any alleged crime. In other words, if it could be proven that RR had cold cocked his wife and knocked her out, the suspension most certainly would have been much longer.

Honestly haven't been following this (cause I really don't care), but when/where did he admit to punching her in the face and knocking her out?

Wow only 2 games,  I guess meeting with Goodell took the edge off. I was really thinking it was going to be more like 4 or 5.

Doesn't really matter though, BP is going to carve out a bigger role in his absence.

This is exactly what I was suspecting. Let's hope he's ready to go week 3.

I think he'll come out like a well rested thoroughbred, chomping at the bit and running like his hair is on fire!

But all is water under the bridge, lets move on. I'm happy for the organization and Rice.

Didn't see it in there, can you quote it?

yeah, so where is the link to the info that says RR admits cold cocking her and knocking her out?  smh

It is all water under the bridge, but you shouldn't make false statements based on hypothetical scenarios spread in the media.

I do wonder if he attempts to appeal in order to get back for the Pittsburgh game.  I don't think it would be wise, as 2 games seems to be fair, and the court of public opinion would surely be against him if he did decide to appeal.  But it would also be nice to have him there, on the short week, against our bitter enemy.

It wouldn't even be worth it.  He should be thankful he only got 2 games.  I don't think there's any way that they'd reduce it.

It ain't happenin'.  I'm sure the FO and RR want to just move on and be done with it.

For all the people who think this is lenient, the two games are both big AFC North ones that will most likely effect the outcome of our playoff hopes in January.

Thank goodness. I guess Roger Goodell can be lenient at times.  Take back all the bad things I ever said. Hope Ray's ready to go for the Browns.

If Pierce is healthy I think we can make due for two games without Ray.

As for if the punishment is just or not, I really don't care. I care about Ray's family being healthy and safe as long as he and his wife and daughter are in a healthy safe environment I feel better that should be first and foremost. If the court found him guilty and he had to serve time fine. I understand the NFL has a personal conduct policy so the suspension is a moot point and I won't try to argue against it. Still I feel that this was really just a situation the courts and/or the Ravens should have the final say on.  If a player is on PED or a team/coach or player is found guilty of cheating or unnecessary violence on the field than I think the NFL can step in and administer a punishment.

Anyway I digress. I'm just slightly relieved because I was honestly expecting more than 2 games. Here's hoping Ray is a better person because of this and will rededicate himself to his family and team even more than before.

Lastly, Ravens players need to stop the excessive drinking. Jimmy Smith, Jah Reid, Ray and our rookie running back whose name I won't bother knowing till he contributes on the field. This off seasons was a little out of hand.

Yep, I'm pretty much in agreement with both of you.

I think we will be good with BP and our new passing game. I also think RR having to watch those two games from the stands will harden his resolve to get back to beast mode. Look at the bright side, it's two less games of wear and tear.

edit; bye the bye........nice pic!
