Ray Rice Suspended 2 Games

Honestly... If there's a video of him punching his lady in the face, yes... He'll be suspended but if not... No I don't think he will be. He's been an exemplary citizen from everything prior to this incident.

If such a video existed, I don't think it'd be taking this long

I think that you and I are on the same page.  I think this is becoming much ado about nothing..  The longer we wait, the more I believe the above.

I don't think it was nothing, considering he was still charged with assault by prosecutors who were also privy to the video footage. It's probably not as bad as some were making out to be though.

Word. A diversion like the one Rice got was a discretionary thing that takes into account stuff like his prior record, his conduct and how his partner was dealing with it all (she had to sign off on it all, for example). Doesn't mean it didn't happen or that the video isn't out there - his lawyer's comments after the fact were interesting.

Yeah, I don't think there is any question that the 2nd video exists.  If it didn't, then they wouldn't have changed the charges in the first place.

The diversion program is something that anyone in his situation would have gotten, so I don't see how that is any indication that the video doesn't exist.

That's my thought too..

From what I understand there is, and I saw this on twitter and can't find it so take it with a grain of salt.  But they got in a fight in the elevator and she struck him repeatedly, he hit her twice, she lost balance and hit her head on the railing.  So it was bad, but maybe not as bad as shoryokening her into a coma

Other than seeing RR drag his wife out of the elevator and the police report, all of the other accusations and "info" are based on assumptions. And you know how the saying goes, when you assume, you make an [butt] of you and me.

I think the NFL just forgot that they're supposed to suspend him

Roger Goodell's too busy showering in the dollar bills he gets as a commission for the Johnny Autograph jerseys that it's slipped his mind.

When the heck is Goodell going to make a decision on this!?!?! Ridiculous.....

Does anyone know if Goodell is on Vacation? I know I said that the way it's taking so long that a suspension may not happen but this is way too long.

Announce either your not suspending him, or you are, it's that simple Roger.

Apparently so. They keep suspending other players but have seemingly forgotten Ray Rice.

He might be on vacation..lol Im assuming no one really wants to rush them also. If you rush them, they might say ok we'll rule that Ray Rice will get the max suspension..... But geeeez, it shouldn't take this long.

The simple fact that the suspension didn't come immediately after his court date is encouraging.  I don't know if it will happen at all now.

Has Gordon been officially suspended yet?

Technically he has been suspended officially, its just that he is appealing it. At which this rate, his appeal may be heard before Rice gets any suspension news.

If he's appealing, good luck to him. He'll need it. In droves.

The latest from ESPN today.

Hopefully by the second pre season game. The team needs to know so they can prepare for the first few games.

Would a reporter just make up information? He said he's hearing these things from sources. He isn't making it up. It's not a guess.

Also, the NFL headquarters is in New York. This is the man who first reported Rice's visit with Goodell the other day.

So.... I'm putting a lot of credibility here.

Yeah "sources". I could say a lot of things and back it up by saying "I have word from sources" or "A few sources just told me". Doesn't make it anymore true, just because they added they got it from sources. Hasn't there been many tweets an articles from reporters claiming they know or heard something from sources, and it ended up being not true?

To me, an article has no credibility if there isn't anything concrete. and to me, this article has nothing concrete. Unless an article has a direct link or quote from a direct link, I take it with a grain of salt.

People distrusting the media has gotten to the point where they're not even smart about it: it's almost always unbridled cynicism and distrust. Sources remain anonymous because it could mean losing their job if their name gets out. I've even used a source who didn't want to be named because he was sketchy about being put on a Government blacklist. Name your source and risk losing them.

And like you say, a reporter's reputation is gold dust in this era. Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport are two who particularly value theirs. Look where that got them.

Or it could be there have been articles before that haven't been true that have claimed to be "from sources". If you think about it, if the "source" wants to make something up, what better way than to remain anonymous so know one finds out who it is? People lie all the time about crap, some article or report isn't going to change that. Some people like myself just like concrete evidence instead of some person "claiming" he knows something from an anonymous source. Wouldn't you rather read something factual or concrete over something you have no idea where the source is from?

I just think this is a very complicated case and it's taking time to decide what to do. Based on his previous stellar reputation and his proper actions since the incident, there would normally be no suspension (and there's plenty of precedent for that). BUT that video was shown over and over and "no suspension" would enrage most non-Ravens fans.

I wonder if the Greg Hardy situation is influencing the delay.

Harbaugh alluded to that, I think so. Also the Irsay situation, they are held to a "higher standard".
