2 corners don't start anymore, it's a 3 corner league now. That being said, I think he is more of a slot guy at this point and that would be Webbys area of expertise. But, Im sure one of them could bump outside. Right player, Right price is what it would come down to.

That's what got him cut from Kansas City...

Lets sign him with our magical expanding cap space.

Well, the Ravens have a little over $4 million available right now, and it's a fairly big possibility that Koch, Ngata, and Canty are gone next year. With the cap set to continue escalating, it's not out of the question.

Do you really think we're going to get in a bidding war for a zone corner on the decline? right player right price for which he is neither. Lets put this pipe dream in the trash with all the others.

He's an off man coverage corner who was a top 10 for the previous couple years before being asked to cover the slot, a position he was unfamiliar with and apparently dislikes. Let's also not leave out the nagging injures.

I'm not saying the Ravens will get him, but let's not act like he's a bad player.

I said he's neither the right player or price, declining production, can't play slot, can't press, wasn't worth his 5 something mill pricetag. You don't pay a guy based off what he did years ago.

Oh, so because you said it, it must be true? I'm finally understanding how this is working...

You can't just base it off of one injury plagued year where he was used in a different scheme that didn't fit his skill set. I will take previous years where he was healthy and in the correct scheme over one year where he was injured and in the wrong position for him.

You can base it off what he did years ago when it was just two years ago that he was top 10, easily, and top 10 for a few years prior as well.

Dean Pees uses quite a bit of off man, anyway, and it's a very popular NFL scheme. Not being able to play press man is hardly a concern, which he actually can play, despite his smaller size.

$5 million for a top cornerback? Pfft, I'd take that any day.

Flowers reportedly disliked playing in the slot last season, so Webb could stay in the slot. Jimmy could play press man outside, Flowers would play off coverage on the other side, and Webb would man the slot. Sounds wonderful to me. If only there was a way.

Webb Is Definitely Better In The Slot All We Need To Do Is Sign Brandon Flowers

...ok? You still need slot corners. I wouldn't pay him like a number 1 but I would bring him in and see how much he wants.

Exactly. People don't seem to be understanding this. He didn't like the slot, and he struggled in the heavy press man scheme. We wouldn't play him in the slot, we'd play him outside and a couple yards off his man.

What do you think Webb plays?

He's actually not bad in press, but given his size, can't do it all game

Well try telling him that. That's our viewpoint, that's our plan. It's better than being out of a job, out of the NFL, sure. But he will have way better options, it's not like nobody wants him. Why would he do that if there's 20 other teams offering him a #1 or #2 job and a way bigger contract? Why would he accept being demoted, take less money? He's not gonna do that, let's be realistic here.

You really think there are 20 teams in the NFL that would offer him a starting CB job? I can't think of many at all. Most teams are pretty set at starting CB at this juncture of the offseason.

Our secondary would be unstoppable with Flowers, but he is too expensive.

I think that's an exaggeration for a team without a proven FS, but if Flowers could come in on 3 CB sets and push Webb inside, combined with the team revitalized speed and depth up front, we'd be very difficult to pass the ball against.

That all may well be true, but every one of the Ravens present contracts goes up too, so it's kind of hard to say that we'll have plenty of room because of this, this and that, without recognizing that there are a ton of other factors as well.

Exactly, we're already invested heavily in Webb and appear poised to invest heavily in Jimmy Smith soon.  I'm not sure where they would be able to come up with the Cap dollars to outbid others for Flowers' services - teams that are going to pay him as a #1 or 2 - without robbing Cap space needed for other spots.

I'd love to have him, but I just don't see them going for Flowers.  I do think they will bring in a veteran CB at some point.  A guy like Drayton Florence, for instance, who would come for the vet minimum and provide some competition and protection for Asa and Chyckie.

I like the idea of Florence. He's a guy that can be an adequate #3 for us, but also a guy that you don't have to guarantee playing time to if Chykie or Asa step up. He'd be good insurance for us.

I don't know alot about Florence but Dominque Franks kinda interests me as possible signing or we could even bring back Chris Johnson.  I don't think we going to be able to sign Brandon Flowers but anything is possible.
