Brandon Flowers should have a contract sent to him tonight!

Come on Ozzie.. This guy is in his prime.. Sign him to a 3/4 year incentive laden deal and make it happen.

Flowers is only 28, he can make a big contribution to the Ravens. If he still has decent speed, it's a no brainer. The only thing is, MONEY--how much would he cost to bring in.

1) Please increase your font size. Thanks.

2) We probably wouldn't have to pay him for than 2-3 million dollars a year.  According to rmw10 we have $4.3 million in cap space, and so we should be able to afford him unless it comes down to a bidding war with a team that has room to burn.

3) Here are 7 teams that NFL.com has listed as the most likely landing spots for Flowers. The Ravens aren't on the list, but I still think we can make it work.

Wouldn't mind potentially having a lot of money invested in 3 CB's if we resign The Jimmy. Would give us a great trio of CB's for years. I'm all for it, I hope Ozzie jumps at this.

You don't want to take that list at face value because nfl.com's building a B/R kind of reputation, but I was going to post something similar in that it does show we're not close to the only potential suitors for him.

If we offer a two-year contract with $10 million guaranteed (just pulling numbers out of [nowhere] here), then the Texans also come along with a two-year $10 million contract we'll likely be number two on his priorities just because of the Crennel connection. Chuck in the Jets offering a two-year, $11 million one and we're number three.

If we want him, we can absolutely make it happen. The reason I'm not getting too hopeful is that he can go somewhere else and be the CB1, or there could well be someone else willing to do a Jeff (f)Ireland and pay more than us.

Agree re the font size too. That post was hard to read.

You all might be convincing me. Still, Webb's contract dollars say he should be on the field pretty much every snap.

Signing Flowers wouldn't  change the number of snaps Webb is on the field. He and Jimmy will still be the #1 and #2 barring injury, but with the number of sub-packages used in today's NFL the nickel corner is essentially a 12th starter.

We technically run the same type of scheme the cheifs run. We asked our cornerbacks to play more man coverage since we have such great pass rushers in Suggs and Dumervil.

We played a lot of zone last year. I don't know the percentages, but I would think we are close to 50% if not greater than that in some type of zone coverage.

Well that would be a dream secondary, but not a single one of those will be comfortable in a back up role. That will propably be the problem

But the Oz signed Dumervil he can surely do it with Flowers too!!

I don't think there's such thing as a back up CB anymore unless it's the 4th.. we typically line up with 3 CBs anyways considering the amount of time Graham got per game.

Jimmy/Flowers/Webb/Asa/Chykie would be crazy good

Still not sure why the Chiefs cut him, decent corners don't fall out of trees. I am not convinced he was cut because he doesn't fit their scheme.

They do if they were expensive.....

That's exactly why he got cut.  He didn't do so hot in Reid's scheme last year.  They asked him to play a lot of press man in the slot and he's best as an outside corner in off man.  He can play slot, but they tried using him there as his primary role and it just didn't work out.  More than half of his snaps were in the slot.  He did well on the outside, but got burned on the inside.

There could be another hidden reason in them wanting to open up some space for a possible Alex Smith extension as well.

Okay, let's see what happens over the weekend.  I seriously doubt we are making any immediate moves on Flowers or anyone else right now.  Let the guys put on the pads and hope no one gets hurt.

One team already been reported to show interest. The Falcons seem to be interested as they have been monitoring his situation in KC. As some have aluded to, the Texans could be one to watch with Crennel over in Houston, of course the man who signed Flowers to a $50M contract, former GM Scott Pioli is now in Atlanta.

Come on Brandon, they may have your former GM and DC but we got your former HC in Kubiak, go get him Ozzie!

When was Kubiak his HC?

...But Houston & Atlanta does make the most sense. For some reason I can see him in a Jets jersey though.

Hell yeah I would want us to sign him. Why not? Nothing to lose here. No draft picks traded. This is a great move IMO and I'm going we're looking into it. He could revitalize his image here and possibly leave next year and get us a compensatory pick.

And I highly doubt that they'll be as good as Flowers was before his scheme change... If we could get THAT Brandon Flowers then our defense would be a top 5 one.

I'm all for this guy coming to town. Is he going to be really expensive? I feel like he's going to be one of the most sought after Free Agents still available.

Maybe he wants to come to a winner though. OH wait, the Chiefs killed it last year. Damn you, Andy Reid.

Considering the chiefs still have to eat some of that contract(I think. Not familiar with the rules) probably will warrant some Dumervil esq deal imo

I saw the Romeo thing and for some reason I guess because he is on the Texans now, I linked Kubiak to him.

I say about a 2 year 5 million deal and see what happens.

He would be our nickel corner, meaning he's on the field for about 60% of the snaps. That's nothing to sniff at.

I would do everything I could to sign him.

Well try telling him that. That's our viewpoint, that's our plan. It's better than being out of a job, out of the NFL, sure. But he will have way better options, it's not like nobody wants him. Why would he do that if there's 20 other teams offering him a #1 or #2 job and a way bigger contract? Why would he accept being demoted, take less money? He's not gonna do that, let's be realistic here.

I would love this. A top CB that would give us one of the best trios of corners and some much needed depth. We've neglected the position all offseason and don't have much behind Webb and Jimmy. We're an injury away from having chykie brown being the number 2 CB. That's scary to think about. You should have like 4 good ones too so for me he's a no brainer if you can make it work. We could definitely afford him by structuring the contract so, it just depends if we're willing to pay him and if he's okay with being a nickel guy.

I can't trust webb either. Those two knee injuries, he could easily just drop of a cliff or do one again

Given Jimmy's injury history, betting on him doesn't seem like a lock either.

I think if we really bring him in, I can't see him being our nickel corner. He will be one of the two starters in my opinion

He would most likely be our number 3 cornerback if we signed him. The Ravens could ask him to play on the outside along with Jimmy Smith when opposing teams decide to go 3 wr sets or more and of course have Webb cover in the slot. I just don't see him starting over   Smith or Webb since there's so much invested in them and I can only imagine how upset it would make either player if that would happen.

2 corners don't start anymore, it's a 3 corner league now. That being said, I think he is more of a slot guy at this point and that would be Webbys area of expertise. But, Im sure one of them could bump outside. Right player, Right price is what it would come down to.

It's funny to me a thread about a FA we haven't seemed to show interest in is still breathing but Brandons "moves to help the team" got double tapped almost at birth.

I've come to love the off season on these boards.

On topic wouldn't mind him. Him and Jimmy on the outside and Webb at nickel. ..mmmmmmm defense. That is of course if he's willing to come for a reduced rate and actually try. I've heard he got a little arrogant after he began to get noticed.

Wow you beat me to the punch with this topic. Yes we should/need to sign him. Webb has fragile knees so I don't know if he will hold up for an entire season. Regardless we may need Flowers to help out in that secondary if Brooks is not up to snub.

Flowers reportedly disliked playing in the slot last season, so Webb could stay in the slot. Jimmy could play press man outside, Flowers would play off coverage on the other side, and Webb would man the slot. Sounds wonderful to me. If only there was a way.
