Seven Nation Army Chant-merged threads

That was an awesome night. It was loud in the stadium, but that chant REALLY carried. Had no idea how loud we were until I saw the video.

One of the few games I got to attend and one of the greatest. Didn't have my son with me so I could really let loose, it was the loudest chant I ever heard in the games I went to

The BEST part of the manure chant is it lasted through a commercial break. It was amazing!

Al Michaels:

"We're trying to behave ourselves I gotta tell you."

The only problem with Michaels and Collinsworth in that episode was that they talked through the chant. I just watched it on Youtube and I wanted to tell them to be quiet!

Whens the nfl just going to get a game vault already. I'd pay to go back and watch some old games. 09 @ Dallas, 07 vs Pats, '11 vs Steelers, game last year you mentioned.

The BS chant is the #1 reason I always list for the Ravens having some of the best fans in the NFL.  We may not have the largest fan base, but we have one of the best and most passionate.

I couldn't have picked a better game to make the trek to Baltimore

They really need to do it. They could make so much money selling the games on DVD, maybe some issue with the networks wanting a bit of the money but a deal could be reached fairly easily.

Which is why we should have a patent!

If it's not ours than how can we have a patent?

Piece of advice for you: Don't start any more threads for at least a few months. Most of the ones you've made so far turned out to be disasters.

Who's started the 7 Nation Army chant if it's not Our fans? Enlighten me please!

It's been a part of soccer for a LONG time, but I dunno who started it.  I think Harbaugh admitted to stealing it from that.

Ravens fans started the White Stripes Seven Nation Army chant after it was adopted as the teams theme song....Now everyone seems to be doing it....during the World Cup game yesterday you could clearly hear the Seven Nation Army chant, (and of course the U-S-A! chant)....how cool is that that the Ravens theme song has been adopted as a USA chant?   :) Pretty awesome in my book!

What an awesome win and such an auspicious start to the World Cup! Less than a min in, and we score!

We didnt start this chant. Its been used in soccer for years before we started. Also in college ball. We were actually pretty late to the party with the chant.

We might have been the first NFL team to start doing it though.

You're correct. It's been used by European futbol fans for years... But I do believe we were the first professional american sports franchise to adopt it. Now everybody uses it. I heard it being chanted during the NBA finals by both sides.

I think the Heat started doing it in 13 and I think the Spurs did it just to mock them.

Haha this is FUNNY - that chant has been around since the song was released in 2003. It started in Milan and then caught on in Europe in none other than, soccer stadiums. Then, after a couple years it made its way to my Alma Mater, Penn State which sometimes takes on a rabid European like atmosphere with 107,000 singing every song and chanting and then came Seven Nation Army - ""Seven Nation Army" made a beachhead in American sports in State College" according to sports writers. It started with one student (usually senior) leading the chant solo and then it caught on section by section it wasn't an organized thing until 2007 when PSU made it official and encouraged it (a little faster). This is why I think it's so cool the Ravens started doing it, I was used to it! It has since been copied by other pro teams but other pro teams can't match our intensity and togetherness when we do it. I LOVED hearing it at the O's playoff games, THAT was awesome and I like that we adopted it for all Baltimore teams.

So to recap > Milan > Europe > Penn State > Other Colleges > Ravens > Pro Copycats

is the lineage of the Seven Nation Army chant.

Circa 2007 -

We weren't even remotely close to being the first ones to do it. In fact we aren't even the first to do it in the US. We just copied someone else.
