Spreading Out The Passing Attack

5 posts in this topic

i know we dont have much depth or experience at the WR position especially since williams went to IR. but i have noticed that since he has been out the passing attack has been limited to mason, clayton, heap, or the backs. the only exception being the figurs touchdown bomb. i think we rarely ever use more then a 2 WR formation. i think spreading the offense out every once in a while would be a beneficial especially against defenses like the steelers.

I've said something similar earlier in the season but they have to some extent tried too. They now have Marcus Smith out there a lot (although he has nothing to show for it). The key here is spreading out the defense. They have been doing that but since they're short on wide receivers they have been forced to do it with tight ends and running backs. Several time last week they moved McGahee or McClain out to the reciever position in an attempt to open things up and we saw the result. Drops by McGahee and McClain is a great running back but not quick and agile enough to turn those short passes into long gains like Hines Ward can.

I forgot about him. But I shouldn't say it doesn't surprise me. The guy got cut from his previous team for a reason. Sure there are exceptions but its very rare for a guy to be cut by one team and them be signed by another the same year and make any sort of impact.

He's been injured. He was hurt on a special teams play a few weeks back and hasn't been back on the field since. He'll probably be released eventually to make room for a roster spot. He's really not that great of a receiver. I don't think he was "cut" from the Saints. From what I remember they tried to pass him through waivers and he never made it past the Ravens.
