Worst player of all time?

32 posts in this topic

So we all have seen thr "greatest ever" lists but what about the worst ever? This is nfl wide by the way. Not just us. For me it would be Ryan Leaf. Lots of hype but a terrible player at the most important position.

Wrong area of the forum, but likely the worst of the best (I mean, they did all make the NFL) would be an UDFA that was cut and never had a second chance in another league either.

Just a thought.

If most of us have herd of him, he is probably not the worst ever.

Unless the only reason we heard of him was due to how bad he was

Boller was not the only  man on the field.

I know Boller had far more than his share of problems, but any one who claims he is the worst Raven ever is completely ignorant and uneducated.

yeah I said that.

JaMarcus Russell

Stole my vote. I think it's worse to fail so thoroughly when you're a first overall pick rather than an UDFA...

That's why I went with Travis Taylor.  Drafted after Jamal Lewis in the first-round (tenth overall), but still... a first rounder... not sure what we ever saw in the guy.

Oh, I have another.

Anyone remember Todd Marinovich? Never saw him play, but he didn't just crash and burn, he fell into the NFL black hole.

Pun was not intended. But it worked out nicely.

Nothing worse than pickin a bust with HoF players picked right after said bust. I think that was the Deion draft.

It was. Next players taken were Barry Sanders, Derrick Thomas and Deion Sanders. Great pick...

Worst player... hmm. Jamarcus seems like a good answer, but it was a senile Al Davis help making the decision so that takes a little sting. I could say Leaf as well but the Chargers needed a qb and kinda got stuck. This is harder than trying to pick the best players.

You're right. He's the most disappointing raven ever......

If he ever panned out we would've had a few rings.

If you go strictly by talent, Boller ain't the worst nor would any player that was a starter or even made it on the field (kindle). as the other member said... "most disappointing" would better describe Boller. But didn't think OP wanted a list of players that never hit the field

It's basically impossible for us to assign to a specific person the role of being the worst player that the NFL or even one team has ever seen, so most of this must be done in context. That being said, I'm somewhat torn between Dan Cody and Sergio Kindle as the worst Ravens. Their stat lines are nearly identical. They each spent three seasons with the team, played in three games over their last two seasons with Baltimore, and recorded one assisted tackle. But Kindle was selected slightly higher than Cody (43 overall compared with 53) so I think I'm going to chose him.

Rolando McClain

I think a lot of us feel like that now. But in all seriousness he was pretty bad. He showed some potential in his first 2 NFL seasons (what stands out most are his 5 sacks as a sophomore) but after that he just seemed to fall apart.
