3 Ravens kicked out of bar for being too drunk ?

So apparently Harbaugh doesn't want our guys drinking at all. Will have to find the link to his comments, but I'm sure it's on the main site by now.

After every single arrest this off-season being alcohol or drug related, and now this 'story', can't say I blame him.

im pretty sure he can't ban them, but telling them he'd rather them avoid it is no issue. An outright ban is bound to be breaking some employment law

yeah he didn't say or imply the team would create and enforce any rules, he was just saying that they shouldn't be out there drinking in the first place

He's got a point.

“To me if you look at everything that happens, it seems that it’s 90 percent alcohol and another percent is marijuana. One of those two things is going to be involved,” Harbaugh said.

“You don’t do the right thing just because you call a cab. I’d rather have you do that than get in a car and get behind the wheel. But how about we start off with the idea that we’re not going to go out and drink. How about we start out with that? The other side of the coin is that we’re all supposed to be world-class athletes. That is not what I would call an effective training method right there, when you drink too much. It starts with that. We expect those guys to chase a high standard.”

People/players will still over-consume, though.

He does have a point, but its a far fetched reality.  If its guys boozing a couple nights before the game then that's an issue.  But you're not going to win telling mid to late 20 year old males they can't go out and booze.  And if you do is it a 100% abstain order or is ok to have a couple drinks after a "W"?

Agree with you on that but going out shouldn't become media fodder. That's probably when he has an issue, when he has to get involved.

Yep, I am usually totally against employers imposing on their employees personal lives, but that certainly doesn't mean he can't or shouldnt make it known what he thinks about it

I drink to intoxication, as does everyine I know when we go out.

Clearly we walk in different circles.

Four of my closest friends have fully stocked bars in their houses. Three friends brew their own beer and belong to brewing clubs. About a dozen or so friends are what I would call beer snobs.

None of these people drink till intoxication.

In all I only know one or two people who drink to get drunk.

I'm trying to be realistic here, pretty much EVERYONE has gone through the partying phase (aka college LOL) of their lives. But truth be told, the people who are in their mid to late 20s who are still in that phase are more often than not total screwups...not passing judgment on anyone, just making the observation that a lot of those people are underachievers (or worse). I should also clarify that the 'party phase' implies either alcohol or drugs.

So that we aren't making it sound personal, just look at our team for example....Flacco was married with a child at that age. Torrey doesn't drink at all. Many other examples as well, but the point is simply that when you have the money these guys do, there are much better ways to enjoy life...I always felt like drugs and drinking were a way for people to let loose who don't have the means (money) to enjoy the better things in life.

Not saying that a few drinks is bad or anything, but if a person's idea of fun is hanging out at a bar or club regularly it says a lot about their mindset

heck yeah, I consider myself quite the beer / liquor snob. But I stop after 3-5 drinks. I like that warm toasty feeling lol, not the head spinning, nausea feeling you get after crushing a bottle of Patron

Well, there brings up another topic. Each persons definition of drunk. I throw down (I think we all know that), but I dont get to the head spinning, nausea feeling point where I want to die. I'm 32 and that was sooooo 10 year ago ;)

It was reported Torrey Smith was one of them and this disproves that rumor:

@TorreySmithWR: People are telling me that they heard I was crazy drunk in Ocean City this weekend....that's impossible...1. I don't drink 2. I was home smh [Twitter]

Recopied from LFW 5/27

http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/Late-For-Work-527-Jacoby-Jones-Shoe-Coming-Soon/230460e4-3c0c-46f5-a68b-3ff392b9b0de

Who hasn't or knows someone that has, we are not 'famous' and there was no TMZ. I tended to do my drinking on the beach-- it was cheaper lol

I'd rather hear about Torrey not getting in trouble.  Jacoby said that he only had a few beers before climbing on the tables to show them his dance moves.  LOL.  Just joking.  I know that you are the dancing star of the Ravens.  Let's see you score a few TDs this year and no one will remember this article.

Don't know why but the first thing I thought of was comedian Ron White's joke about getting thrown out of a bar.

"They threw me out of the bar for being drunk in public. No, I was drunk in a bar, they threw me into the public".

Crazy how we have 4 pages on a non-story like this.

"Leave my friend alone officer he's LEGALLY drunk." - George Carlin.  I just wonder why you can get thrown out of a bar for drinking too much but can't get thrown out of a restaurant for eating too much.  It seems like a double standard to me.

I didn't realize that being an athlete meant they couldn't be a normal human being

They aren't normal human beings and people are foolish if they believe that. The fortune and fame comes with a price; you are a role model. Thats why they have these Play 60 commercials, charity events, etc. I have no problem if they want to drink a beer or 2, but when you are 30 years old and you are still getting bombed in the middle of the day, you need to grow the hell up.

ugh, I remember my early 20's. well, not so much remember it as I remember what people said I did...the only good part is that I built up a tolerance to it, so even a smallish guy like me who weighs 195 can drink with the big lummoxes that I hang out with

No, they are not role models by virtue of the job. They are role models by choice.

They did it on a holiday weekend, allegedly. Apparently they didn't actually get thrown out, but you people are ridiculous when you act like they aren't human beings as well

The Ravens should make a Break room that can become a lounge after hours at the castle so players can have a few under supervision and a bus ride home. They make enough to hire a dj or band or whatnot. Would keep them out of the news for sure

I gave that up when I was pregnant with my first biological child-- 22 years ago. I had no idea I was pregnant apparently 2 went to the Keys and 3 came home in November lol. I had a New Years Eve party, wanted to use all my pretty crystal and stuff, and my roommate and I used to mix Blue Hawaiians in the Tupperware pasta tubes and put them in the freezer-- it would take a week to get to slush with loving shaking several times a day. I did not drink too much I thought, but I puked blue for hours, learned the meaning of driving the ' bus'. It was my bodies way of saving the baby I guess. I was in my house so no public anything but the story still lives

These guys are a little younger then I was but not much, they are allowed to have fun, they just can afford to do it out. I can't lol

I have fully stocked wine fridge with the 5 to 30 dollar stuff plus my Boones Farm

Rubs me the wrong way that a steelers fan posted this.

All the more reason to Crush that pitiful organization. To drive them from the field in shame and to hear the lamentation of their fanbase.
