NFL top 10 shortest players all time - Rice snubbed?

87 posts in this topic

with a criteria of most talented players 5'9" or shorter, modern day players such as darren sproles, warrick dunn, MOJO drew, and bob sanders make the list. do you think its a robbery that ray rice isn't on there? i for sure think if darren sproles is there at 10, and ray rice is nowhere on the list, then its just a robbery, darren sproles has been a great weapon, ray has been a great player. aside from last season, ray has been one of the best PLAYERS in the entire league since the day he became the starter, not just a top 3 RB, a top 20 player league wide, year after year, darren sproles who is the same height as ray, has never even been considered in the same league, and has never been more than an explosive luxury addition, certainly not a player who can carry an offense like ray has done for years.

this list is absolutely criminal for this.

What's the full list?

And, if this is the one they air on NFLN from time to time it's outdated. That "Top 10" aired mid-season 2010, Rice had just one starting season under his belt by then and they don't update those things.

I do think Sproles is overrated. Nice luxury weapon but, meh.

no its been updated since then. they have darren sproles footage from what i believe is 2012 forward(pretty sure he joined the saints in 2012) in which case ray was a 3 year starter, 4 year player at the least from the last time they updated.

Oh really? I was wrong then. Rice should be on the list, then, no doubt about it.

if the first five players on the list isn't Barry Sanders, it is worthless

He should be occupying the 1-11 spot on that top 10 list.

Stole this from a Saints forum. It's from 2011 and I can't vouch for accuracy but seems right

#1 Barry Sanders

#2 Darrell Green

#3 Sam Mills

#4 Bob Sanders

#5 Maurice Jones-Drew

#6 Doug Flutie

#7 Buddy Young

#8 Warrick Dunn

#9 Joe Morris

#10 Darren Sproles

Flutie flakes?!? No way he belongs on that list. He was a decent player, but he was much better in Canada then the NFL. Iirc, most of his awards were college or CFL. I'm not saying he's terrible, but defiantly not worth of being on this list for NFL players.

Top 10 shortest players or top 10 short players? One of them means you just need a registry with all the players' heights and pick the 10 shortest, and the other is the 10 best short players.

Either way, those NFLN lists need to be taken with a grain of salt imo. I swear half the broadcast is just people getting mad at the rankings anyway.

And just to clarify when I said "seems right" I meant the order I remembered from the show lol

Overrated maybe, but their not a better receiving back in the league, except Charles.

The list was made before Ray became a star.

he became a star in 09, he was considered a top 3 rb in the league by the end of the 2010 season, this list was made at the very earliest midseason 2011. ray rice was beyond established by the time this list was released

Wasn't it made in 2010?

it was updated. sproles first season with the saints was 2011, they had tons of sproles-saints footage on there, so it was at least updated at some point around midseason 2011, at the earliest, otherwise they had crystal balls showing sproles running for the saints a year before he signed with them.

They probably updated the footage, but didn't want to mess with the actual list.

If Steve Smith isn't on that list then it's just not credible ... He had a legit body of work when that list was made and certainly did more than Sproles.

2010-2011 Rice would have been the best receiving back in the league. Hopefully he bounces back to form
