The Flacco's Next Record To Break

516 posts in this topic

Yeah I hated both of those losses but at the same time, I don't know if we would have won it in 2012 without those losses driving us

Agreed. That's why it's hard for me to say we could've won 2 or 3 total. If we won in 2011, a bunch of hypotheticals could've impacted our run 2012. 1 being Ray Ray could've retired afterwards.

Which reminds me of that speech of his after that devastating NE loss. Chills.

That was one of Ray's best moments as a Raven, such a huge speech after that loss

I wasn't even aware of that record. Did they talk about that at all? lol

Is this a combined games won? Post season & regular season? If so - should pass Brady no issues - we'll have to put together another 5 year run I think to pass Peyton.

So what do you think about year 7?

I believe the season after next (2015) will be better than this coming (2014)as it will give more time to adjust to the new offense and scheme.

He will have to play deep into his 30s to approach that career win record. and of course, put up double digit wins pretty much every year.

Let's say these predictions come true. Say he ends up in top 5 wins of all time, wins more postseason games than anyone in history (that is very likely to happen, btw), gets a second SB....That is a HOF resume.

at the rate he is playing at, he could have the record for COMBINED wins at a reasonable age. staying healthy, and being a steady consistent winner like he always has been, he can do it, those extra playoff wins nearly every year do a lot to pad those wins and help him catch up to the peytond and bradys and favres.

im not gonna do any math on it, but with a 15 year career and staying healthy and consistent, i see no reason he won't shatter a combined win record. but then again I've done no math on it

agreed, I'm honestly not expecting much more than what we got last season for 2014. i think it will be a learning curve and our 2nd and final year of rebuilding before we come back and dominate the league harder than we ever have, i think this mediocrity is required, it will pay off very soon, maybe as soon as this year, but I'm setting the bar low for now, I'm expecting 2015 to a be the greatest team the ravens have ever fielded, i am expecting a 14-2 15-1 type season in the near future, and i am not exaggerating, thats how close i think this team is to being absolutely dominant, just 1 star WR, a RT, and a CB3(we may already have 2 out of 3 of those) is all we need to be a #1 seed contender and a legit dynasty contender.

sure I'm aiming high, but at least I'm saying its for the future and I'm not expecting too much for this season lol

Most touchdowns in a postseason: 11 (tied with Joe Montana and Kurt Warner)
Most touchdowns without an interception in a postseason: 11 (tied with Joe Montana)
First quarterback to have a passer rating over 100 in all four games of a single postseason.
Most consecutive playoff games with three passing touchdowns: 3 (tied with Bernie Kosar, Kurt Warner, and Aaron Rodgers)

These are the real ones he has broken or tied. Wins are a team effort. I hate wins being associated with one player. The whole team could of bailed him out and he gets the W? Same with goalies in hockey and pitchers in baseball. It annoys me.

That post season performance during the SB year was outstanding. That should stand for years to come.

A little off topic but I'm curious:

Flacco has never worn a wristband. We all know Cam had like 11 plays so yeah, didn't need one. But with Kubiak and the new scheme - think we'll see one this season?

Flacco is this generation's Troy Aikman. If he can stay healthy he could have a better career.

When he originally put up the stats, thats EXACTLY what I was going to say. Not the best regular season stats but effiecient and when the post season comes he's reliable. Aikman had a better supporting cast though, offensively and defensively.

So we just need to find an emmitt smith and michael Irvin

Like Mom said, we're working on that!

I've heard a ton of people make the Aikman comparison here, but I don't think it's an accurate one....Aikman is the reason "game manager" is now a negative label lol..if the comparison is just in the most general sense that they went Hulk Smash in the postseason, I can kinda see it. Other than that, the two have practically nothing in common

ha, anyone who says that pretty much made your point for you...besides, we can always stick Yanda back over to RT. Monroe /Allen/Zuttah/Newton/Yanda ...wow man, it wouldn't matter who the WR are...

What's crazy is, that OL above still isn't as good as what Dallas had back then. That was back when Dallas knew how to build a team and find great young talent

Rice was almost a carbon copy of Smith, with better hands, for the better part of his career. Maybe he can get back to it.

I don't mind Aikman comparisons. First ballot Hall of Famer who did exactly what he needed to in order to win games and acquire rings. Aikman had a lot more talent and skills than people have him credit for, much like Flacco. He could have lit it up had the team and system been different and asked him to do so. Remember he was a number one pick. He might not have had quite the strength of Joe's arm, but it wasn't weak either. He also had great accuracy and confidence (much like Joe) that he was the best and could do whatever he needed to do to get the wins.

He was only really good in 2009. Our O-line has been poor to average since but Rice never really lived up to that season.

He was amazing in his breakout season but he still produced at a high level from then to 2012. 2011 he had another 2000 all-purpose season. He fell off a cliff this past season and has never done that well in the overall postseason.

I hadn't given that any thought. I think it's something we'll have to wait and see.

My thinking too. They appear to be just a few top player positions shy that could become solid after next years draft and FA but we have to factor in team chemistry. The chemistry can put them ahead or behind in our estimates.

What about the $120 Million Dollar stat? How many QB's have reached that milestone in their first 6 years?

Not sure, but why don't you track that for the next 5 years.  You will find out that $120 mil. will soon be average.

2011 was pretty good, although the line was decent then and that was when we brought over Leach. I'm looking at his stats and he averaged 5.3 and 4.7 ypc in 2009 and 2011, but 4.4, 4.0 and 3.1 the others. Considering 4.4 is average, that's not all that great. Not bad considering the quality of his blockers but there are a lot of other RBs in this league that have probably been better than Rice from 2010 on.

Ah Leach of course good call. He made Rices job much easier.

Rice was abused. He was beaten to the ground in Camerons system. Does anyone have the numbers on Rice snaps or touches a games, rushing and receiving? It wouldn't surprise me if thats taken it's toll on him also considering the wear and tear from Rutgers. From 09-10 it felt like half of our passing offense was the Ray Rice dumpoff.

In 2009 - Rice had 254 total rushing attempts - 15.9 per game. In 2010 he had 307, 19.7 per game.

In 2009 - he had 78 receptions, 2010 - 63 receptions.

In 2009 Flacco had 499 passing attempts and in 2010 he had 489. Without spending an inordinate amount of time to calculate the number of times Rice was actually targeted - he made up 15% of the attempts in 2009 and 12% in 2010. Roughly.

Adjusting for targets - that still would be nowhere near half.
