Do the Ravens utilize gadget plays enough?

I just wish the fans of his own team would support him. I expect the rabble from PITT to spout nonsense about Flacco, they are obligated to.

Amen!

thats true but even as a player if you dont like it , you should put the team first and not your personell reference.

at least that is how i see.

if the coaches think ngata would be a better blocker in the run game on the 1 yard line then any of our TE, i would be really dishearted if ngata lines up and then just stand and let the defender get in the backfield because he feels he should not be out there blocking .

im pretty sure everyone here would feel the same if any player shows this mentality and it kind of suprise me that many are giving the guy that signed the richest deal in ravens history a pass lol.

If I were a cb and I see another teams franchise QB lined up across from me as a receiver I'm gonna do whatever I can (without being blatantly cheap) in that first 5 yards if he runs a route - or -until I hear a whistle blow if he attempts to block me... To put a world of hurt on him in hopes of knocking him out for a couple plays, the game, season, the longer the better.

And that's what would be expected of that cb by his team in that situation; again so long as it's within the rules of the game.

So no, as a QB who plays football as a profession which already has a high enough risk of injury, I wouldn't willingly put that target on my back and risk the livelihood of my wife and kids, just to throw a block in hopes of gaining an extra 2-3 yards or even make a reception for a 1st down just for "the team".....

Especially when that same team wouldn't think twice about cutting my salary off the books as fast as possible if that CB does his job and ends my season or career.

-wouldn't knock any player who would do that for his team and would commend him for it, but at the same time won't fault any QB who wouldn't.

Funny thing is people really think the coaches told Flacco to do nothing, like as if it was a pre-season game lmao!!

Do YOU really think the coaches told Joe to throw a block on a guy whose intention would obviously be to do his best to hurt him any way possible, in hopes of a 5 yard gain???

In effect you think the coaching staff made a calculated decision to risk the teams season for a couple yard gain in a mid-season game?

I think it's A LOT more likely - or let me rephrase - I sure HOPE it's a lot more likely that when they installed that play in practice they instructed Joe to "stay out of the way and just make sure you don't get hurt."

If that's not what he was told then... Never mind what's the point :/

When I brought up this wildcat play sarcastically on page 1 of this, it was a callback to how ridiculous some people were being about something so insignificant. I really didn't expect to see people getting worked up about it 6 months later.
