In those stats you put up on the previous page, does "pass rush snaps" mean that is how many times they rushed the passer, or how many times they were on the field on pass plays?

How many times they rushed the passer. There's a separate snap count for pass coverage

It's how many times they rushed the passer.

Damn. Suggs was worse than I recall last year, at least as a pass rusher

Suggs plays a lot of snaps, but not all. He gets rotated out, too. He is also to the weak side linebacker, so he goes against right tackles at times. I think all three of his sacks this year against the Dolphins were on the right side.

aint the weak side left side of the oline so LT?

usually TE are next to the RT which makes that the strong side.

thats how i was thought but im in europe so cant say they thought me right lol

Regardless, I don't take PFF seriously. It is mind boggling how they can allegedly watch every snap of a game, and see something completely different than we do. I do like some of their stats though

As an example, if they are going to grade our starters, show some consistency. Here's how I'd personally do it:

For players with 5 or more years experience, you look at their career as a whole and use that to grade the player. If they are at an advanced age where decline may come into play, then factor that in.

For players with 1 - 4 years experience, 90% of their grade should be based on last year, with any career trends comprising of the remaining 10%. For example, Torrey and Jimmy Smith. Torrey hasn't significantly improved over the past three years, so while he is still improving, we can't reasonably grade him out to be much more than average for this coming season. Jimmy on the other hand, has improved exponentially since his rookie year, and was a top tier player last season. No reasonable observer would suggest that he is just a run of the mill CB who is on the same level as a player as Torrey is.

Usually it is the left, but a tight end can stay on the left side to help block, in which case Suggs will rotate. The majority of his snaps were likely on the left, but I'd bet most of his sacks came on the right

I;m going to be honest here.

Been watching a lot of KLM. He's a better player than Jernigan. I think he will be a starter with Ngata.

Couldn't agree more, though they will all be in the rotation. It's good to have solid depth on the D-line to keep them all fresh, and hopefully healthy.

Discuss? About what I expected to be honest, a lot of average-great quality, we just need the coaching to put it all together.

Edit:  Also for those wondering why we had a defensive heavy draft, the bold are the players above 30, offense has 2 (Smith Sr, Daniels) while defense has 5 all in the front 7.

Performance thus far kinda bears out these grades imho. However, Jimmy Smith and Terrell Suggs deserve a better grade and why do we still have the red players on our team? I would rather have an udfa purple than busts in red!

Kapron Lewis Moore isnt even on this.

As I mentioned, from watching all the film between Brandon Williams Timmy Jernigan and KLM. KLM is far better in technique and is well rounded. It would not shock me one iota if he were to be what art jones was last year

He's not on this because this is how the players graded out last season. He didn't play, so hard to have a grade. He'll get enough PT to be on there next year for sure.

I feel flacco should be pegged at below average starter for the 2013 season. The guy generated more turnovers than touchdowns, the passing efficiency was horrible and general numbers across the board when compared to his peers puts him in the horrid category.

Glad to see he's putting all this extra work in to get better this offseason.  Oh yeah that's right the Ravens are the only team that receivers have other obligations...Forgot that one.

Here's hoping Kubiak's the answer.

I agree with your first paragraph. Once again, my only explanation would be that he put up his best numbers in the final minutes.

As for your second paragraph, I guess you missed all the vacation photos abroad and appearances made by your man Brady each offseason, or the 14,000 commercials Peyton does every year. If you think those tapings only take up a few hours of his time, you're sadly mistaken. Everyone has an offseason, except of course Sanchez and his famous Jets West camp each year that led to such spectacular results.

All 3 of these are the same point.

Not like he had a horrible offensive line, injured receivers and tight ends, and a new offensive coordinator who had never called plays before. Yeah, not hurting him at all. Not to mention all the fourth quarter defense collapses.
