Andre Johnson not happy...(merged)

Wait..... Just seen it on espn. Johnson's getting tired of being a Texan! Complaining of only being in the playoffs twice. He wants to make a move. while He still got couple years to play his best.

If we didnt sign steve smith? Sure. Johnson has a much larger contract then smith tho and I can you steve smith wont be happy in a 3rd place role.

If the Texans will eat some of his money, yes. Most definitely would be on board with it. It only makes sense to get the Texans best player ever, we have everything else of theirs lol.

Andre Johnson & Steve Smith could coexist together. He would immediately be our best WR, despite his age. & I know 120 would love throwing to him. Maybe he would shy away from a contender that includes his former coaches though. He'd most likely want to start "fresh-fresh" with a bunch of new faces and system.

Then he would work harder on having a larger role. He'd probably be a 4th option if you include Pitta. I couldn't see him complaining though, he's really matured over the years and winning seems to be his main priority now.

Having 4 options seemed to work ok in Denver last year, and Peyton can barely throw anymore.

More options the better.

Last year was so horrible with only Torrey,Brown,Jacoby,Stokely,Doss,Clark & Dickson... Yuck.

i dont think we have the cap for him nor do we want to loose a pick for an aging expensive player.

If he's willing to bring his cap number down to about $8 million per year then it would be a game changing move that I guarantee would put us in the superbowl.Torrey and Johnson on the outside with Smitty in the slot and Pitta and Daniels at TE would be the greatest thing this league has ever seen. What defense can cover that when they go 5 wide and Rice is in the backfield? But it wont happen tho because Andre Johnson plays offense and Ozzie doesn't do offense.Especially when it comes to wrs.Maybe if we wait a few years when Andre Johnson turns 35 or 36 Ozzie will finally be ready to make a move on him,but Johnson's too young and spry for Ozzie's taste right now.

If the Ravens hadn't of signed Steve Smith and drafted Campanaro, I would for it. But, since they got a high potential receiver (who would have gone much higher than the 7th round if he went to a bigger college) and Marlon Brown, I'd like to see them develop their own talent at receiver for once, instead of just getting other established receivers.

Also, the salary cap issue. Andre Johnson is a top 3 receiver in the league (I'd rank him number 2) and he gets paid like one. Meanwhile the Ravens will be trying to get a deal done with Torrey and Jimmy Smith. Neither of which will likely be cheap. While I would be excited to see him in purple and black, I wouldn't make the trade. Not this off season at least.

That being said, dear jebus I hope he doesn't go to the Seahawks. The combination of him, Russel Wilson, and Lynch could make them a top ten offense. To go along with having the best defense in the league. With a receiver like Johnson, they would have the potential to dominate other teams.

if they go 5 wide and have rice in the backfield we would have 4 guys on the o-line lol.

every team would love that lololol

what happens if torrey smith gets hurt?

...or steve smith pulls a hammy and is out for a month? (he is 35)

...i mean this is football. guys get hurt.

would even make jacoby & pitta better

knows offense, no red flags

positives outweigh negatives.

if the ravens could pull this off, they could possibly be hoisting Lombardi trophy again sooner than later

it could also mean we wont be able to sign anyone anymore and perhaps prevent th ravens from extendin guys like torrey smith and jimmy smith.

i doubt AJ will play for the veteran minimum.

I bet that's what Denver thought last year when they brought in Welker (and are thinking again this year).

Or if AJ, Torrey, Steve and Pitta collide on a jump ball and break each others hips? Then we're really screwed.

But we could always trade for Fitzgerald then. Who gives a crap about salary cap, not me!

If the price is right, it is worth a shot although we would have to extend him and hope Houston pays him some of the money. I think we could be an attractive spot for him since he knows our system and knows we can contend and I think knowing the coaches will be a plus. I certainly wouldn't give Torrey for him like suggested in another thread but a 3rd or 4th rounder could work since we will have 3 comp picks next year. Idealy it would be the 4th but we could go up to the third. I think Houston will want more however.

I doubt Houston is going to give their only franchise player ever away cheaply.

If the player is demanding it they would. Cap strap yourself while rebuilding to a guy who wont be near his prime when you contend again, and pay that much for poor performance either because he wont have his heart in it or simply bc of poor QB play?? Quite frankly AJ is a great player but isn't a part of their long-term solution and they don't have a short-term one with the QB's they have on that roster.

If they can move him, clear the cap space, and net a mid round pick or 2 in the process you bet your bippy they would.

PS- JJ Watt and Jadaveon Clowney probably have something to say about that "only franchise player" comment. Andre is still great but not the face of the franchise. JJ took that from him a year or two ago, and Jadaveon is the second now without even having stepped on the field.

That's their direction and plan going forward and at 33 AJ doesn't fit in with where theyre headed. Bill Obrien needs to get his guy, and trading AJ will net him a mid round that he can use as ammo to move up from whatever 1st rounder they end up with next draft to where they need to be.

Nope nvm. No room. Never accounted for the rookie class.

Did you account for the rule of 51? If we can fit him in under that, it wouldn't be much harder to get him under the final cap as it would be 2 more players on the minimum salary

As much as I would like AJ on the Ravens, I just don't see it happening. I could realistically see him going to either Denver, Seattle, or New England.

If we can make him our 52nd-highest paid player, we'll be fine. :P

He brought up the fact that he didn't account for the rookie class. By the rule of 51, it doesn't really hurt our cap more than 1 or 2 mil iirc

Bringing in Andre could be the best possible thing to this team. Andre, Torrey, and Steve Smith together on the field at the same time? Not to forget Pitta at TE and Ray Ray in the backfield, this offense could potentially be a top 10 for the first time in God knows how long.
