Andre Johnson not happy...(merged)

55 posts in this topic

Andre Johynson is not a happy man.

The Houston Texans' wide receiver sat out of the first team workouts with new coach Bill O'Brien, and now we know why: Johnson is upset with the direction of the franchise following a 2-14 debacle in 2013.

Johnson said he doesn't plan to attend organized team activities and minicamp. He hasn't requested a trade, but wondered at a charity event on Tuesday, "Is this still the place for me?"

"This offseason has been very frustrating for me," Johnson said, via the Houston Chronicle."

Hmmm....lol

I know I'm against patching with vets, but I'd make an exception for a player of Andre Johnson's caliber.

Would be something, but he's owed an awful lot of monies.

True but on the Monroe deal, didn't the Jaguars pay most of his remaining contract? Man if we could manage something like that and make some cap room.

I know. I don't really like it either but for Andre Johnson? I'd be in.

That being said, we have $7 million left over in cap.. His cap hit is $6 million.

We'd have to cut a few strings, but we actually do have the room to pull it off

It would be so worth it.  It's Andre Johnson, he's an actual true number one receiver who perfectly fits and is completely familiar with the offense.

We don't have the ammo unless we give up a third or fourth rounder either.

I doubt we do it.

Just at face value, I think plenty of other teams have more cap space and more to trade for him.  I could see the Browns or Jets making a run at him.  New England also finds ways to make this type of stuff work every year it seems like.

Way too much $$. Ozzie would have to work some serious magic and have Houston eat a lot of that money

I doubt Houston is going to give their only franchise player ever away cheaply.

What was Mario Williams then?  They could have franchised him...

I'm talking about guys who have always been there, you know 10+ years. Their identity and leadership.

JJ Watt right now is the best player on their team......

We actually do have the money but we'd be left with $1 million over. We'd need to make a lot of compromises. Like cutting Koch etc, etc.

J.J.Watt is still on his rookie contract and has only been there since 2011. You're missing my point.

Andre Johnson has expressed his displeasure with the Texans, days after the draft, i think after he expected Houston to come away with a top QB in this years class only for Houston to address their hole at QB with the 135th pick with Tom Savage, he knows that his years left as an elite player are limited and would like to play with a superbowl contender. A trade may be in the cards for him, most are expecting it to be made with the Patriots or Seahawks if one were to be made. I guess my question is should we make a play for him if he opts out of Houston, even though wide receiver is not really as much as a need now post draft, is he worth giving up a pick(s)?

what happens if torrey smith gets hurt?

...or steve smith pulls a hammy and is out for a month? (he is 35)

...i mean this is football. guys get hurt.

would even make jacoby & pitta better

knows offense, no red flags

positives outweigh negatives.

if the ravens could pull this off, they could possibly be hoisting Lombardi trophy again sooner than later

Ya gotta feel sorry for him, only three winning seasons, two 8-8 seasons and only twice in the playoffs in your entire career?  You could read frustration all over his face, his body language was really tense and anxious.  I understand that a lot of players might not even have it that good.  But, I understand it must be extremely disappointing to be at the place he is in his career, at his age, and realizing that he may never get to realize his dream of getting to a SB, due to being hemmed in there for another season by salary issues.  That's frustrating!
