He's got an uphill battle. Obviously our top 4 are settled atop the depth chart.  He'll be in competition with Campanaro, Mellette, and LaQuan for most likely 2 roster spots.  He's probably last out of that group right now.  His arrest certainly didn't help his case.  He has hardly been healthy in his time here as well.

all im hereing about is Mellette, who is one of my favorites and who i think will be mentioned alot this year..but Thompson is the fast wr we got im sure we could use his speed some where...Plus having him learn from Steve Smith is a plus...plus ill take Thompson over a  Campanaro any day..

Why? Because he's fast? He's shown very little in his time here and can hardly stay on the field. Speed isn't everything.

I guess Kamar Aiken and Gerrard Sheppard get no love.

Not much question that they're pretty much camp bodies.

He opened things up for other guys, he really opened things up in Buffalo.  He just had that bad ankle sprain and dropped a pass in preseason.  But I don't see him in practice.  Must be a reason Coaches didn't trust him.

I would think he is on his way out. Thompson has not done anything for us since he got here. Little production and development.

He needs to improve his routw running and hands a lot. I doubt he makes the team this year myself.

Thompson is more experienced but behind Campanaro in development in my opinion. I think Campanaro is more talented besides the speed.

exactly he actually did make some plays the very little he's played also he's been injured and had very lttle chance to show what he can do...so if Ozzie says let them fail on the field then let him fail on the field...he's been behind jacoby and torrea now he is behind jacoby and steve smith but i hope he learns from steve smith..i also think that some of our wide outs needed an veteran route runner to show then how to get open. last year and they didnt have that so lets hope steve smith shows them the ropes this year....

Don't trust him because he can't catch.  The same issues he had at Florida.

Preseason 2 years ago. Thompson looked nice he really attacked passes in the air. ( reminded me of V.Cruz in the preseason but not big yards of production ).

Thompson really missed the perfect opportunity last year, we were thin at WR and TE early ( Boldin traded and pitta injured ) but Thompson got injured and just seemed to never heal.

Should be interesting to see the competition for possible 5th and/or 6th WR spot. If we carry 6 it would seem that Laquan ST play might help him greatly.

Williams

Thompson

T.Smith

S.Smith

Mellette

Brown

Jones

Campanaro

The ones in bold are sure to make the team you dont give up a pick in next years draft just for the heck of it. I just dont see Thompson making the team. Campanaro will replace him as a slot wr and returning. See Campanaro being put in as how brandon was last year for third down receptions. Mellette should be next just to see if he works out, look good in preseason but got injuried. Williams might make the team as a special teams specialist. That leaves Thompson out in my views and thats not counting in any other undrafted/free agents that might try to be added to the team since it was a fairly deep WR class so there should be more WR free agents when cuts start to be made.

I'm I the only one that's excited about Smith, Brown, and Campanaro being our future WRs if they all reach their potential? That could be a dangerous WR core.

Honestly I think Mellette beats out Campanaro.

They just traded a future sixth round pick to get back into the seventh to take Campanaro. No way Malette, who has as much regular season experience as Camaparo, beats him out

If the jags cut or want to trade blackmon do we pounce?

No way. Camponaro is a steal. He offers a unique skillset. Mallette really is just a generic receiver

What about Mallette makes him generic lol. Though I agree Campanaro could be a steal.

Would have to be cut mostly likely or late draft and even then he is suspended indefinltly. If he does get reinstated he will miss at least half of the season. That being said the Ravens would have a true #1 reciever if it works out and he can stay clean.

I was a big advocate for Deonte, but I think with Mellete and Campanaro, there just isn't room for him. Torrey, Steve, Jacoby, Marlon, Mellette and Campanaro is a pretty solid recieving corps. If a 7th WR makes the roster, I think it'll be LaQuan just because of his special teams skill.

Thompson had his good moments when he was on the field last year but for some reason or another we just stop using him.

thats what im sayn he was being used and did pretty good...then all of a sudden he was never used again..all im sayn is let him fail on the field. for some i think its been a depth reson he hasnt been one the field and not talent.. cause the little he played he actually made a few plays.

As much as people like Campanero, he still has a lot of work to do.  He has a high route running ceiling because of his quickness, but he didn't run professional routes in college.   Or many routes, he was more of a free lancer.  he may be further away from contributions than we thought.
