Ravens who could get Cut

144 posts in this topic

Was KLM on IR? I don't see Hopkins getting PT if he makes the roster, and I agree he's better suited for the practice squad, but we'll have to see. It's likely similar to the Furstenberg situation where fans are super hyped up and he doesn't amount to anything

KLM started on the PUP and reverted to IR once PUP eligibility was up.

I agree though.  I don't see him as a guy that's going to garner any playing time with so many guys in front of him, and I don't see him as a guy that's not going to clear waivers.  If he makes it, good for him.  That means he played really well.  I just don't see that being the case considering his skill set and the depth in front of him as it currently stands.

After Taylor's terrible play in garbage time against the patriots last year i would say he will be out of football after his tenure with the ravens.

you would also think his bandwagoners would shut up after seeing that too, but nope, they all blame the line.

safe to say the shocking number of people in baltimore who want tyrod to start are completely clueless about anything football related.

I couldn't remember because he was on the PUP list. I don't think there was ever a hope for him to play.

Yeah, I'd be shocked to not see him on the practice squad come September

Thank you.

People keep saying bring in this guy or that guy but I keep wondering who they want cut to make room. Those depth charts help me. I don't know about others.

Go Ravens

 Quite possiblity

However, the team as a whole would be weaker without McPhee, McClellan, and (from other page - Laquan Williams there for depth and/or ST's.

Jernigan makes McPhee expendable if he can fill his role though.

I will say this... I think this is the year where there could be some surprise cuts and/or stash / phantom IR's. I can see a good number of the previous year's draftees and FAs being hopped in the depth chart by this years crop of players.

An error in my chart, move Pernell McPhee to DE and keep him; Derrick Hopkins ends up on the PS (maybe). lol

I'd be tempted to get a trainer to slap Brent Urban on the wrist and then IR him for the serious pain it would cause.

Either way, options are there. :P

McPhee is playing OLB because he was having knee issue at DE weight. Think Miles stick around for ST.

He's injured right now too so I think were just going to IR him and let him bulk up. I don't see him being good right away, but maybe in a year or two. Probably hoping he can replace Canty, but that's a big expectation for him.

The issue is that IRing him doesn't allow him to practice, which he needs more than bulking up.

True, but I see us using a lot of the practice squad spots for the UDFA we signed. We got plenty and a lot of those guys were projected to get drafted. As much as Urban needs the practice I don't think he's on the 53 man roster and it may be hard to PS him.

I think he almost has to be on the 53 man roster.  He doesn't really need work on his body.  He needs work on his technique and overall skills and he's not going to get that unless he's practicing.  He'd likely be a weekly inactive, but there's no way he makes it to the PS and IRing him only delays his development.

Def won't PS him, hopeful he will heal fast.

Miles has great size and speed; so who would you cut to add him back in?

He's got great size and speed also. Oh crap, a conundrum; gonna leave it to Oz and Harbs to figure out. lol

Miles>for better ST play.

Miles>for better ST play.

I think Miles is a near lock for ST reasons, and they seem to like him as a FS/SS hybrid as well.  The team spoke very highly of him on numerous occasions.  I'd assume that Elam, Brooks, Stewart, and Miles make it.  I see us keeping 5, and whoever out of Trawick, Brown, Levine, and Moody plays the best on ST gets the last spot.  Hell, we had 7 safeties on the roster at one point last year, so we could even keep more lol.

Here's the Ravens I can see being cut, or added to practice squad (I'm not indicated which ones make the PS, I'm just saying which I don't see being on the team):

Tyrod Taylor (Yup), Nick Stephens, Shaun Chapas, Cierre Woods,

Kamar Aiken, Gerrard Sheppard, Jace Davis, Jeremy Butler,

Deonte Thompson (Yup), LaQuan Williams (Yup), Aaron Mellette,

Nathan Overbay, Phillip Supernaw, Parker Graham, Brett Van Sloten,

A.Q Shipley (Yup), David Mims, Reggie Stephens, Derrick Hopkins,

Jamie Meider, Levi Brown, A.J. Patali'i, Xavius Boyd, Adrian Hamilton,

Ryan Jones, Zach Orr, Josh Bynes (Yup, Sorry), Dexter Moody,

Omar Brown (Yup, Sadly), Anthony Levine, Bryndan Trawick, Tramain Jacobs,

Deji Olatyoe, Avery Patterson, Richie Leone

If Rice doesn't get suspended, I could see Justin Forsett getting cut and either another defensive back or offensive lineman kept. If Richie Leone looks good, for all we know, Koch could be out. In this case, I could see Butler, Mellette, Hopkins, Mims, Graham, Boyd, Overbay,  and Patterson headed to the practice squad.

Of course, this is all way too early, in my opinion. I don't think Ozzie is done looking over the free agency pool. There were some really hard decisions in my list of who could be cut (Bynes, Omar, Tyrod to name a few). However, I know the team isn't going to shy away from making the hard decisions, and I think we may keep more defensive and offensive linemen than normal due to the youth and uncertainty of the depth.

Just my early two cents, I'm sure my mind will change.

I don't see Mellette going to PS at all. He is making the roster - or some other team's roster if the Ravens PS him.

Yeah, outside of the main 4 receivers (Torrey, Steve, Marlon, and Jacoby), I think Mellete's spot is the safest. Him and Campanaro will likely be the fifth and sixth receiver.

Trawick probably
