Ravens who could get Cut

144 posts in this topic

I am aware of who we drafted. A project. WENNING will be a number 3 or a PS member. We will not take the chance of a rookie project backing this team up if Joe goes down...

What have you seen in Tyrod that any other QB couldn't do. Without Joe i dont see this team going anywhere so Id rather keep Wenning as our #2 and/or sign a back up. For some reason a lot of fans have an unreasonable amount of faith in tyrod, I dont see it.

We can't assume who on the O-line is going to be cut yet because we're switching systems. The terminology is much simpler but it calls for more athleticism. How our guys will fit into that mold is yet to be seen.

To be fair to Tyrod, we've been more than comfortable with him as our only backup for the last 3 years.  I don't see why that would change now.  If Wenning beats him out, so be it.  I don't think it's fair to say that because Wenning is here, Tyrod is gone.  In fact, when discussing Wenning after the draft, the referred to him as a developmental backup.  Don't be surprised to see us keep 3 on the roster this year.  They've wanted to for the past couple of years but Painter and Hanie didn't have the chops.

Yeah, I can't see them trading or releasing Tyrod and going with Wenning as the back-up.  IMO, unless they are overwhelmed with an offer for Tyrod, he'll be here this year and then allowed to walk as a FA next year (when Wenning is hopefully ready to assume that role).

If Jernigan really shows, he could be. But I'm starting to doubt that.

canty is underrated and disruptive player, and he showed that last year.

The only way I see Tyrod getting cut is if Wenning has an amazing preseason and really shows him up.

flacco is a much better QB then Tyrod and even he sucked it up pretty much the whole season behind that o-line.

who realisticly in their right mind would expect a back up to come in and do better lol.

not to mention he did not exactly come in with ideal circumstances and it did not seem the coaches prepared him and the team for him possibly coming in.

Tyrod has taken a snap in the NFL for one. I'm not willing to say a rookie 6th rounder can be a number 2 right out the gate. And Joe doesn't neccessarily have to be out for the season for a back up to come in. He could miss a game or two, and we need a game manager for that time. I would be surprised if Wenning makes the team as our number 2 qb.

I think his blocking's good enough to chuck him in at backup OG as it is.

What about Ryan Jensen is he out of the picture?

What makes me think Tyrod's days are numbered is the fact that Joe was clearly hurt last season after the Lions' game and yet the team didn't have enough faith in Tyrod to actual fill in for Joe for even one game.

And they'll trust Wenning? There aren't enough starting QBs in the NFL to trust, let alone backup QBs.

Tyrod Taylor gets cut. I think the Ravens have seen enough of Tyrod and are ready to move in a different direction at backup QB. Plus based on the highlight below it looks like Keith Wenning is much more of a pure pocket passer (minus the 1st highlight!) than Tyrod. I never understood why some teams have a backup QB who doesn't resemble the starter.

Shaun Hill like which is better than Tyrod

I wouldn't. James Hurst will be able to provide what Reid does. Reid is trash and easily replaceable.

It's still unknown if Hurst will even be ready for TC. He sustained a major injury late last year and may start the season on the PUB or even IR. I agree that he offers much more than Jah, but we may need him until Hurst is ready.

I think they're far more likely to trust him than Tyrod, since he can throw the ball on target.

Based on what?  College?  The NFL is a whole different animal.  I'm not the biggest fan of Tyrod, but I don't see us handing over the backup reigns to a guy they classified as a developmental rookie.  They've been more than comfortable with Tyrod being the only backup for the last 3 years.  I don't see that changing now just because we added a new guy there.

true, he's height is great for pass deflections and when healthy he can produce. But he has hurt a lot last year and is old.

Oh, I don't think so....He's dealt with doubters before, and he shines in that type of situation. He's dumb like a fox, and meaner than a turpentined tom cat!

They drafted a QB for a reason.

Not really sure where to put this.  Probably not deserving of it's own thread, but since we're talking about guys who might/might not make the team, here you go...

Inerested to see if the Ravens place a waiver claim on Daryl Richardson. They're at least considering it. More NFL talk ahead @1057TheFan

Yes....But are they willing to pay him more when his rookie contract is up?

Wouldn't they get the comp pick for him if they let him walk and let some other side pay him?

I like what we're doing here. We're essentially putting guys like Thompson, Shipley, Reid, and even Gradkowski on notice. We're telling them if they don't beat out guys they're gone. I'm fine with that. I personally think Gino will stick around for at least another year.

I really like our competition at WR. I'm excited for ask the UDFAs, veterans and draft pick to compete for their spots.

I dont think that canty will get cut this year. i do see him fading out throughout the season and the young guys taking over then at the end of the season he will be gone. it all depends on how guys like jernigan, urban, tyson, and KLM do. i think those four are the best prospects. i like the idea of brandon williams, but who knows if it will pan out. Gino, reid and AQ are definitely in competition with each other Zuttah, yanda, and osemele are locks. Jensen seems like he has the favor of the coaches and more than likely isnt going anywhere. Urschel definitely isnt going anywhere as he just got drafted. Urschel really impresses me for some reason. im going to be keeping my eyes on him. ill admit i knew next to nothing when we drafted him but after what ive seem and read he looks like he could be a real contributor. he looks the part of an interior offensive lineman and he's extremely smart. gino and AQ both look soft and boys among men on the offensive line. 2 of the 3 will be cut. as of right now it will probably be reid and AQ, but i wont be surprised to see gino go. he just seems so weak.

So what are you saying? What are the options: 1) carry 3 QBs; 2) cut Wenning & re-sign him to the PS; or just cut him? 2&3 don't make sense, we will have wasted a draft pick, and if we carry 3 QBs, we'd have to cut someone else at a position we traditionally fill.
