Ravens who could get Cut

144 posts in this topic

I wouldn't. James Hurst will be able to provide what Reid does. Reid is trash and easily replaceable.

Hurst's jock strap>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Jah Reid. I think Hurst could start not this year, but the year after.

Maybe. Torrey, Steve, Marlon, Jacoby, and Mellette are lock to make the roster. Maybe a suprise UDFA does too. Thats 5-6 Wrs. We shall see.

I don't see either of them making it.  Simply not enough roster spots.

I'd say Campanaro is pretty near to a lock being that we thought enough of him to give up a future 6th for him.  Can't see us keeping more than 6.

I'm not sure if Mellette is guaranteed anything. We saw what happened to TD Tommy. Granted, he looked lazy and that's what killed him, but the same could happen to Mellette. Doubt it, but you never know. I think Campanaro is guaranteed something, though perhaps we try to IR him. I think it depends on how things go in TC and preseason.

I agree on Mellette.  He's not guaranteed anything, but I think he's got a clear leg up on Thompson and LaQuan right now.  The first 4 are settled and I'd throw Camp in there as well.  That last spot looks to be Mellette right now, but as we know, things can change.

Absolutely. I 100% agree. I think the only way he could lose his spot is if we decide to have 4 TEs and 5 WRs. Anything could happen. I want him to stay, though.

Miles could be cut with the addition of Laquan Williams, Stewart, and if a good ST/S UDFA pans out from the bunch.

At WR LaQuan is destine for the bubble, but could maybe make it. Thompson's chances are very slim.

O Line: Shipley will hopefully be outperformed by Urschel and will be removed. While you may think Reid would be gone, we have to wait to see what additions we make ... surely we'll have at least one new veteran RT in the mix. If we do, Reid will be on the bubble.

D Line I see one, but more likely 2 guys getting the cut. We've got 9 (not counting any undrafted players we grabbed). Yes, I know we rotate people, but that's a lot for a 3-4 defense. Traditionally, we haven't carried more than 7.

KLM will have to prove himself. Cody is also in a precarious spot. Urban certainly won't get cut, but the line on him is that he "has a ton of upside" ... so practice squad is a tough move. Hopefully, he just proves he belongs so he doesn't pull up with some mysterious injury. Guys who are projects rarely succeed when they have to sit for a year. I'm yet to see any of our IR guys come back and make the squad the next year (of course, I'm hoping Mellette is going to be an exception).

Ummm can we atleast wait until Training Camp starts to decide on this.

Well, of course we HAVE to wait until then to decide on it. In the mean time, though, it's an interesting topic to discuss.

no way gino and canty are getting cut.

gino will be the 1st back up for the C position and if osemele has a set back zutah might take his place and gino will play  C.

actually if nobody wins the RT spot i can see osemele playing there with gino at C and zutah at LG.

unless he is terrible in camp he wont get cut lol.

also canty is the only veteran besides ngata on the dline and he was a starter last season.

no way he gets cut to.

there is no reason to believe tyrod will get cut unless he is terrible in camp and pre season.....

Will Happen:

Terrence Cody, NT

Chris Canty, DE

Jah Reid, OT

AQ Shippley, OG

Might happen:

Sam Koch, P

Gino Gradkowski, C

Tyrod Taylor, QB

Deonte Thompson, WR

Tyrod is safe unless we get Yates. We won't cut both AQ and Gino. Canty is probably gone. Jah should of been cut by now...

We drafted Weinnign, who is a much better passer. We usually only role with two Qbs. I don't think we cut Gino, but we could.

I am aware of who we drafted. A project. WENNING will be a number 3 or a PS member. We will not take the chance of a rookie project backing this team up if Joe goes down...

If Jernigan really shows, he could be. But I'm starting to doubt that.

Canty is the only other vet besides Ngata on that DL.  There's an obvious youth movement but you do need at least some veteran presence.

Canty was injuried a lot last season, that is my worry.

Still don't think we're going to cut him unless something like a fax faux pas happens again and we need the money to sign a really good player.  I don't see much out there right now or even anything that could happen where that extra money is needed.  We'll keep him around, injury prone or not.  He definitely wasn't stellar last year, but he was good enough to stick around, especially when DeAngelo Tyson is the next most experienced DL behind him.

True enough,. We shall see.

It could also be a Marcus Spears type of situation where he starts the year, and if the young guys earn their playing time, Canty may see the door.  At that point, there would be no cap savings, but it is a situation that could happen.  I still believe that he'll play here in 2014 and be cut after the season, though.

Thats would proably be most likely. If we can get solid play from the young guys, don't see a reason to keep him or Ngata around for 2015.

I don't know if Gino gets cut. He's extremely cheap depth at worst, which is better than more expensive depth.

I think his blocking's good enough to chuck him in at backup OG as it is.

True, thats why I said maybe. But if Shippley out plays him heavily, we could cut him.

I could also see the FO giving Tyrod a shot to prove himself (and grab a comp pick for the team).

It's possible, but unlikely in my opinion.

Assuming we sign a vet OT, we'll have 6 spots locked up, leaving most likely 3 backup spots.

You have Gradkowski, Jensen, Urschel, Shipley, Hurst, Reid, and maybe another UDFA if any step up.  They seem to be very high on Jensen so I don't see him going anywhere.  Urschel was just drafted and I don't see him making it to the PS so pencil him in.  That leaves one spot for 4+ guys.  I think Gino has the leg up, but I wouldn't be too surprised if he ends up cut at the end of camp.

My thinking there. That why I put it under possible cuts.
