Ravens UDFA's 2014

And in case you want proof, here's the contract that our UDFA Levi Brown signed...

Thanks for the ref. Interesting; I'm just saying that come Aug. when most of these UDFAs get cut, the Ravens contractual obligation ends there, it doesn't continue for 3 yrs. So it really costs the organization only the $80k to bring these guys onboard for tryouts.

That's how it works with any player, not just UDFAs.  Once a player is cut, you're no longer obligated to pay him.  The money that stays on the cap has already been paid in the form of a signing bonus at the time of the contract, veteran or UDFA (unless we're talking guaranteed base salary, but that's a different monster).

At the end of the day, it really doesn't matter how long the contract is for a UDFA.  The team controls the player for 4 years no matter what so long as they don't cut them.  The reason the UDFA contracts are 3 years is because it takes the player right to being an RFA once the contract expires.  They get the same base salary each year whether it's on a 1 year basis or a 3 year basis.

Out of the alllllllllllll the UDFA RB's....

we have Rice, Pierce, Taliaferro, Forsett, and Wood - we are crowded at the moment, theres a very small chance any UDFA RB can make the team

We got Tony Dorsett?  60 years old and making a comeback.

A bit off topic but we could get Herschel Walker possibly apparently. He says he could still go

I did a quick google of udfa contracts but didn't get anything near what you just said. Thanks for the info and signing off on this topic. Have a good one. :)

Herschel isn't a normal human being.

Wonder if we could use him as trade bait for the Vikings when AP retires.

I feel good about asa..... chykie is a great competitor but not sure he's as talented as asa. Hopefully Seamster is our UDFA gem this year because we could really use another good cb.

I'm bummed to hear about Bullitt, I really like him.

On a positive note, Avery Patterson is a nice signing. He has a good shot of making the 53.

The Ravens usually like for their third cornerback to be able to play on special teams. Should be interesting to see how these udfa cornerbacks fair.

Ozzie won't hesitate to fill a hole with a vet late though. I believe Sumari role was a late pick up.

What do you guys thinking about inviting newly released greg little to camp? I know he has a issue with his but plays like a poor man's boldin.

The odd thing is that he was praised for his catch in traffic in college

Little could make ridiculous catches in college and was very good athletically for a guy his size.  Unfortunately his hands are terribad.

I think you have to take that to the next level, his hands were terribadly awful

We already let Tandon Doss and Ed Brickson go. Unless we're making a clear upgrade to our WR supply (ie, adding a WR1) I'm already content with what we have.

One of the guys that stands out is DT A.J Pataalii, 6'3" 311lb and runs a 5 flat with a 31.5 vert, sounds like a very high upside prospect.

If you can't keep your job in CLE.....then yeah, no thanks

He has a huge battle to even get close to making the roster after we drafted 2 DL.

If you go to his profile you will see that he only has two posts. The other was in the blogs and he said pretty much the exact same thing as he did here.

I also am against touching him. If we want to bring in another WR there have to be better players available than Little.

More like homeless man living in a cardboard boxes' Boldin IMO and probably not even that good. But, I guess we could, he could play 4 if we had to get him.
