[News] Round 2: Ravens Draft DT Timmy Jernigan

Like the pick better than the Mosley pick. Thought we were going Moses, but Ozzie is truly staying true to BPA, considering some early mocks had Jernigan going mid first round.

Serious question here. How many fans would like us to sign Richie Incognito? I'm all for it if we can't get a lineman in the draft.

I wouldn't be a huge fan of the move, but the FO and players know how they would react to the distraction better than I do.

Am I missing something here. I know most of us have great knowledge of the game & our Ravens team but we don't do this for a living. We should have a little more faith in Ozzie & his staff. I'm bettn that when the season rolls around we are going back to the playoffs & back to Ravens football!

reaction from all ravens fans...."Who?"

Speak for yourself...this guy was projected to be a first rounder, including to the Ravens in several mocks...

Jernigan is a first round pick, who can start immediately.

yeah, assuming Ngata, Canty, McPhee, Williams, and Cody ALL get some magic flu that takes them out at the same time...

Drafting by need gets you Lawerence Phillips instead of Jonathan Ogden. Drafting by need gets you Phillip Bucannon instead of Ed Reed.  Trust in Oz.

In years past the Ravens could get away with adding undrafted free agents and mid round picks. That was because you could put anybody next to a healthy Ed Reed and they look like a good safety or have Lewis coaching guys up. Ravens will regret passing on FS regardless of how good Mosley is. Also, quietly Joe is disappointed. The guys still on the board are there for a reason. They are long shots

I didn't hear it anywhere... I guessed we must since we haven't drafted any tackles so far that can start day 1. Sorry if it came across any other way.

Well thats probably what is gonna happen anyways, You can start calling us the Baltimore Texans or the Houston Ravens here soon with all the former Texan players and coaches on the Ravens already, LOL

The Ravens, as well as pretty much every team these days, utilize a rotation. No one d-lineman plays all game.

We have no clue how any of these players will pan out. Why not express hope in our selections? Why not trust our proven process? We've never drafted by need and we aren't starting now. Needs are filled via FA.

San Fran is having a hell of a draft

I thought that even after their first round pick. Ward was the best safety in my eyes in this draft.

You twisted what he said. People are acting like the Ravens have not done anything for the offensive side of the ball when they added two veterans who will make an impact as soon as they hit the field. People always complain each year that the Ravens don't draft offenses and with those complaints shows two super bowl rings in a franchise that has only been around 18 years I believe with several play off appearances. I see these players making a bigger impact than the receivers on the board when we were picking.

we got lucky to put together a defense as dominant as teh one from 2000 in an era of football where offense wasnt nearly as prolific, and for the entire decade plus following that trophy, Offense proved time and again to be the missing link until finally in 2012 we put enough of it together to take SB 48. 2012 and the ensuing 8-8 tragedy in 2013 which came coincidentally enough, after we gutted our offense, should be all the proof needed that this Best player available formula is outdated. Owen Daniels and Steve Smith are bandaids, not answers. Having 12 defensive linemen isnt going to help us next year or the year after when our bandaids depart for any of several various reason and we're once again, without the means to consistently score. its not gonna help us THIS year when a couple of those guys get hurt and we end up with basically the same group we had last year.

I love the pics personally. People say TJ is undersized. Just don't forget the second leading tackler in ravens history (behind only the great Ray Lewis) was barely over 6 ft and weighed 302lbs when drafted (albeit not by the ravens)and he also played on the interior DL. They said he was undersized too. Plus we lost a key piece of our DL rotation in Jones.

Other than adding a couple of veterans that will contribute for a year, they haven't done anything for the offense. Yes, we have two Super Bowl rings, but remember that last ring came mostly through Joe not Ray or Ed. If you remember in those playoff appearances, there have been a lot of what ifs because our offense failed when we needed it most. You can't win with half a team.

QB is the only need you attack head-on. That's why you see all the top guys go in the first two days.

Right, it's still a rotation. Competition is good for the team.

I believe a good portion of the draft is window dressing with many really good talents never a part of it. It is not an end-all. Don't put so much stock in this draft. It is important but not the total picture of how a team is put together. Some players don't gel until in their 20's. And as a result they don't make it big in the draft. We see this all the time. So relax and understand Ozzie's prowess as a premiere GM

There's been 11 OT 's taken so far through 3rd round, pick 11. I like Mosley as BPA, but we have to draft need, I would think, soon and our o-line is a huge need. 1 team, Miami, has actually drafted 2 OT 's (round 1, and 3). I'm pretty sure the OT 's are almost tapped out by now. Maybe it's not that pressing of a need. We'll see. I'd like to get Terrence West in round 3 with 1 of our picks or round 4, if he's still there.
