[News] Round 2: Ravens Draft DT Timmy Jernigan

267 posts in this topic

I did not have a strong opinion either way on the first round pick, but I love round two. Jernigan has looked great whenever I have seen him play. I think he will be a very productive player for the Ravens, and I think his impact will be felt much sooner than many of the recent picks the Ravens have made.

QB in New England! That's kind of...shocking.

not really. Brady's on his way out and ive been telling you all that for a couple years now.

Right now on paper the Ravens look well behind Browns and Bengals in Talent. That is undeniable. If Manziel can add anything, Ravens are the 3rd most talented team in AFC North. Who was the last Pro bowl player the Ravens drafted in the 1st round? Ngata in 2006. That's 8 years Ravens fans. Passed on FS Ha Ha and Pryor while adding nothing in free agency. Team will trhow deep on Ravens early and often. Offense couldn't run, block, or get open and you draft a DT in the 2nd round. I love the Ravens, but call it like I see it. Missed opportunity.

I don't see the Bengals adding anymore than we have so far and the Josh Gordon will likely be suspended most if not all the next season due to multiple drug violations.

Jarvis Landry is gone. Are there any wideouts for Joe to throw to. How bad does this offense have to get to get some kind of help?

Cody Hoffman is still out there. He's a very underrated, huge and athletic wr.To me he's our last hope at upgrading our offense in the draft.I think he's this years Alshon Jeffery. He's the same size as Evans and posted similar combine results.

What Ravens draft have people been watching for years, Acting as if we don't still find starters where others don't ........I. E. Marlon Brown, Just chill Ozzie said we will get a wideout . Plus we really only got one more spot for a wideout if we run with 6 this year. so the kid will need to play special teams too. So maybe that factors into who we pick up , same goes for cornerback. We need good players that can also play good special teams in late rounds

1. Torrey Smith

2. Steve Smith

3. Marlon Brown

4. Jacoby Jones

5. Dennis Pitta

6. Owen Daniels

You don't think those players are good enough? You think a rookie WR is going to play more than those guys? WR & TE are NOT a need for us to compete this year. Sure, it would be great to get a young guy for the future, but drafting for the future is far from drafting a "desperate" need at WR (See Carolina or NY Jets) or TE.

Uh, didn't we sign Steve Smith?? And who was the new tight end? And didn't they resign J Jones? I guess that's nobody for Flacco to throw to. I forgot to mention Torrey Smith. Relax the draft isn't necessarily going to give you starters. You want a shiny car with no engine or a dull one that goes down the road like a rocket??

hopefully this years draft has a few more impact playerts. The drafting of Moseley says maybe they are not sure about Brown form last season. Jernigan is a good pick, hopefully they can get a running back and a quarterback.

I would agree with you if Steve Smith was still "STEVE SMITH" or if Marlon Brown would've showed us a little more than he did last year.At this point in Smith's career he's a 3rd option/slot guy.We still don't have a certified #2 wr.Brown could be that guy if he continues to improve but it's not a guarantee that he will.

Marlon Brown was a de facto "starter" and not even really that if we're being real. he started because Trawick took Jacoby out on a kick return and Stokley is about 43543y5327954239542 years old. Even full healthy and not elderly, none of the three of them is somebody you want on the field every down.

Torrey a free agent next year, Steve Smith on the wrong side of 30, Marlon potentially a good receiver, Jacoby mostly a deep threat, Dennis is very good but Owen is only here for a year. Excuse me if all that doesn't worry me. What are going to do two years from now? We've all seen what a great defense with a lousy offense could accomplish, mostly only playoff wins but hardly any Super Bowls.

Weren't most of these guys on the team when they couldn't get a first down for 3 quarters. Wasn't going the veteran route with Stokely and Clark was supposed to be contributors. Ravens offense needed help. And Yes there are rookies who are better than these guys today. This isn't 2003 Steve Smith. Those days are gone.

I don't think our offense is going to look good this year look at AJ Green he played every game his rookie year and was a beast why are we so scared to get a good receiver I'm tired of our receivers not going up to catch the ball and not getting separation and being scared to catch the ball damn.

My favorite OT Morgan Moses went to Redskins. We`ll see him in the Beltway classic and hopefully we made the right move cause my Redskins friends will never let it go if Moses turns out to be a great pro. Pick is at 67, we got a pick coming up on 79, please pick someone so I can rub it in my Redskins friends face. lol ;)

Bigger issue than receivers is O line. If the receivers and qb do not have time to get open before the qb gets sacked then separation and jumping up for the ball is a mute issue.

Because rarely do receivers ever turn out well. Only a couple in each draft actually start in the NFL. If any of the receivers were on the board and still could make plays for us Ozzie would have picked them. Honestly I don't see how a receiver would play under Steve Smith, Torrey Smith, Marlon Brown, Dennis Pitta, and Owen Daniels. Very little. These guys we draft can make immediate impacts on our defense. There are still receivers on the board the Ravens will look at getting. But the reason they don't is because they do not see the receivers so far as being any better than they already have and see other players able to make plays for us instead.

Ohhh But its ok to draft for the Future when it comes to Defense???

where did you get that info???

I didn't hear it anywhere... I guessed we must since we haven't drafted any tackles so far that can start day 1. Sorry if it came across any other way.

WRs are sexy picks, but we don't really need one. Ellington, Bryant and Moncrief are decent WR prospects still undrafted. Is Terrence Brooks still on the board (Safety, FL ST)?

Ellicottraven---- how do you justify a 298 lb DT who quit on his team in the biggest game of the season????

From what I remember, he had to take himself out of the game because he was a 298 lb DT who was running sideline to sideline all game. This guy has a motor, but everyone has limitations. He should not even have been able to chase people down the way he was. Plus even when he was not making tackles he was forcing players to bounce outside and disrupting plays. I think this guy will be solid for the Ravens and produce very quickly.

You twisted what he said. People are acting like the Ravens have not done anything for the offensive side of the ball when they added two veterans who will make an impact as soon as they hit the field. People always complain each year that the Ravens don't draft offenses and with those complaints shows two super bowl rings in a franchise that has only been around 18 years I believe with several play off appearances. I see these players making a bigger impact than the receivers on the board when we were picking.
