I guess all that talk about it being time to build the offense was just that - talk - and nothing more.

If we wanted to go defense with our 2nd pick - we could have at least taken a FS and filled a need.

If I'm Kubiak I'm already thinking which teams I want to head to next season - one that will pay some attention to offense at draft time other than scrub picks.

Lol. Do you really think that was a scrub pick? Do you know how winning teams are made? Do you know how dominant defenses are formed? We just got a nasty player who's going to dominate in the trenches. That's going to put more pressure on QB's. That's going to make our LB's Mosley/Smith more efficient. And that's going to make our secondary's job MUCH easier as a result. You sound like a rookie fan man. We are building our own defensive dynasty right in front of your eyes and you don't even realize it.

we could have hit FS with pryor or clinton in the first. could have wrapped up tackle with moses in the 2nd, but we stuck true to the team. We go BPA, except it people. we cant preach it all year then be mad when we do it. We are a defensive tea,. wanting the best defensive players. If you need more rational thinking to help with the pick, understand the fact nagta is loosing some steps and price is stil at a premium level, we lose Art jones, and need depth for rotation cause these guys get tired out in the trenches. we have a quality DT to work into the rotation. It helps them all! We win in the trenches, we win the game. Enough said.

No - I meant all we ever give the offense are the left over scrub picks. Not that this was a scrub pick.

Look at the last superbowl.. defense wins championships, and with our first two picks we have given our defense the tools to be excellent and atop the league. Hopefully we can find a solid safety through draft or free agency when cuts roll around, and a solid slot corner. However, the jury is still out on chykie and asa, although personally I think Asa could emerge as a very solid slot corner

That's what makes me mad about this pick. Its like they're giving up on him already after only one year of play. I know Cody's contract is up soon as is Tyson's but this is a position that could have waited until next year.

Agreed. One could argue that drafting both Mosley and Williams is a sign of giving up on both Brown and Williams. Regardless of whether or not that's the case, its just a headscratcher.

i think he is referring to the offensive scrub picks ie undrafted and late round WRs

We still have

95 Lewis-Moore, Kapron DE 6-4 298 24 R Notre Dame

93 Tyson, DeAngelo DE 6-2 315 25 2 Georgia

99 Canty, Chris DL 6-7 317 31 9 Virginia

69 Larsen, Cody DT 6-4 300 26 R Southern Utah

92 Ngata, Haloti DT 6-4 330 30 8 Oregon

98 Williams, Brandon DT 6-1 335 25 R Missouri-Southern State

...and you go and waste a 2nd round pick on another D- lineman... WTH, I dont get this, Just like last night , We drafted these spots last year, We dont need this Depth right now What are they Doing???

This team believes in best player available and they did a great job here when Jernigan was projected 1st round. It isn't about one year it is about several years. It isn't about winning one year it is about several. With this pick it makes it easier on everyone on the defense because there will be a fresh rotation and Ngata is getting way up there in age. Teams that pick players they need this season are the ones that never win championships. This is how Baltimore got to the play offs 5 years in a row and that is how they are going to do it again. 3 AFC championships 1 Superbowl since 2008. Go Ravens.

Got Cj,and Tj! Great pick easily a first rounder amazing value. It seems like we are building another 2000 Ravens team(it has the same blue print) this is why Ozzie is the best GM in the NFL, we value the board and the process of picking the best player not need. And to all the people saying we are giving up on Brandon Williams no Tj can play DE,DT, and NT if you remember anything from last season all you heard about was the Ravens had packages of D-linemen and linebackers coming in and out almost every play. Our front 7 rotation is easily one of the deepest in the NFL, scratch that, its easily the best in the NFL.

They were probably talking about that because he was battling the flu and still made 9 tackles or something. If I remember correctly he actually had a good game.

The thing is this though. There are still quality receivers on the board. Look at the Seahawk's last pick. It was a "nobody", but I guarantee that they picked a quality player who's going to contribute to their team this season. Recievers are flashy picks. And yes even I wanted a receiver. But as you saw in the Superbowl defense wins championships. We already have a solid offense with our upgraded O-line, upgraded receivers, solid running game (despite Ray possibly being suspended), and solid QB. Yes we need another young wide-out and O-lineman. But it will come. Right now we are bringing our D back to elite status. An elite D and solid O is what's required to win the big game. Look at the Seahawks.

What the heck?! We pass on Moses and Amaro. Moses a T who was ranked 35th overall, and who could have started right away. And Amaro, a pass catching TE. Instead we draft a guy at a position we have guys at. I understand, Ngatas contract situation next year. But we drafted Williams last year. That's 2 picks in a row that we passed on immediate starters for guys we won't need for 2 years. And both guys we drafted are injury prone. The Jets picked right after us both times and got Pryor to play FS in round 1, and Amaro to play TE in the 2nd. Unbelievable!

Except we won't be able to stop the deep ball - cuz you know, we still don't have a FS.

And we won't be able to stop anything coming at Flacco from his right side cuz you know, we still don't have a competent RT.

And we might not have any running game, again, if Rice is suspended for a few games - cuz you know, we dont' have anything behind Pierce who is not an every down back nor a receiving back.

lol Ozzie just gon keep trying to rebuild the 2000 D and win without scoring points for months at a time until he retire. That much, is clear now. I already see it now...Oz is treating Steve like an answer instead of what he is: a guy that can help. And we still need o line help.

This was a smart move. People are going to have a tough time running on Bmore. We are trying to establish the best rush defense in the league once again. If anyone can remember those days. When you shut down the run you make your opponent one dimensional. When a team is one dimensional play action doesn't work and anyone can sit back in the secondary and pick off passes simply because you have the luxury to drop more men into coverage. We can still get DB's.
